I thought all the bad reviews were just rude people being rude… So I tried it anyway. Wish I hadn’t. Ordered well done and got rare on half the burger. I don’t recommend.

The front desk people are not great at taking orders. They forgot to charge me for fries even after I asked their opinion on the sweet potato fries. I got the burger with cheddar, onions, sauteed mushrooms, and pickles, medium rare. Very good burger. Fries were crispy, good, not spectacular. Chocolate shake is great. Nice little patio. They serve beer. Decent place. After screwing up the guy at the front was at least apologetic even though it was sort of a pain. 4 stars.

downhill? Not sure what is happening with flavors and consistency. Ordered a turkey burger with an egg but the bun was cold and stale, egg was overcooked(how is that possible?), and meat was dry without flavor, which is surprising considering turkey has mushroom chunks! The only thing going up is the price.

The burgers are okay but I expected better since it’s a burger joint. I ordered a medium rare burger and it was too raw in the middle and it was burnt in the edges. I also had the onion rings that were delicious and probably my favorite! Good Ambience with old school records on the wall. Awesome to brings family and friends since there is so much space. In this location there were seats outside which was nice because we needed to bring the dog.

I just ordered a turkey burger from them, and they delivered it so quickly that it almost scared me, lol. The burger was huge, juicy, and tasty. If I can eat your turkey burger with no condiments, then you have done an amazing job with preparing it. I opted for a side salad and was pleased with it as well; the greens were very fresh. The gentleman who delivered my food was very polite. He had a great attitude and was very professional. Overall, my first experience with this place was very positive. I just may become a regular.

Short version: Plenty of choices within a block. Go somewhere else. Long version: Visited around 3pm on a weekend. Place wasn’t crowded, but I waited 10 minutes just to order. No line but the two employees kind of just looked at me and milled around the kitchen. For a fast casual place, prices are nuts. Anything but a basic burger starts over $ 10 with tax. Add fries and a drink and you’re looking at $ 15 or more just to grab a burger. Also kind of odd, they use the benches people eat on for storage, so I had to get up at one point for them to get supplies out of my seat. The burger is pretty decent, though overpriced. The fries are garbage. It’s a pretty crowded market for burgers and fast casual. You can get to at least 2 other fast casual burgers and 3 sports bars within about a block and a half. I’d suggest you pick one of those.

Service was very rude! I felt like I was a horrible person for deciding to give my business to them! Also, they do not accept the very coupons they send out! Instead they try to make you feel like an idiot for trying to get a discount on their overpriced food. Speaking of the food, it is very blah! It is average at best! Bottom line, don’t waste your time or money here! Plenty of better options in Bethesda!

The food is actually pretty decent. But the experience is always such a cluster. The front area by the cashier is such a train wreck. Been to this location 3 times and every single time while waiting for my order(~15 min wait at that), at LEAST2 – 3 people walk back up and complain that their order is messed up. They have messed up my order once, too. Maybe they are just not good at listening/the cashier is too busy on his cell phone??? Get your act together.

Pink chicken and another burnt bun. I’ll have to stick to lettuce wrapped beef the next time my office orders from them.

Wow how the mighty have fallen, after my 3 visit of poor«i don’t give a blank» service and cooking –it’s time to move on. Smaller and smaller patties, room temperature onion rings, bland mojo sauce. This was once a great burger and fries. Sadly no longer.

If all you are hungry for is a Hamburger this place is as good as any other Hamburger in Bethesda. Once you order anything else you may be sadly disappointed. The Hamburger ordered with tomatoes came with an end of a tomato, which slid off the burger and ended in the compost. The vegie burger ordered with grilled onions appeared with tough onion pieces, hardly chewable. The asparagus side came with uncut asparagus spears with the unchewable ends uncut. The fries were ok but terribly overpriced, For the same price there are much better choices in town.

Great burger and cooked just right. The burger itself beats Five Guys for size and quality but the fries were a bit disappointing! You can watch as they cook your burger, if you like, or take a pager and wait outside. The service was alright but I watched a couple of disgruntled customers who were upset for no real reason. Seems like it is impossible to please everyone! Nice job BGR!

Sometimes all you want is a thick, juicy burger, and onion rings. B.G.R. did not disappoint me. I would give them a solid 3.5 stars. I also ordered baby burgers for my granddaughters and chicken strips. We had a feast. My cheeseburger was delicious. The onion rings were huge and crispy. The girls chowed down on their burgers and chicken strips. They really liked their food. They had French fries too. I was surprised how good the chicken strips were. I don’t know why the reviews were so low. We really enjoyed our meal and I would not hesitate to go back.

It’s a beautiful afternoon, so I high-tailed it out of the office for lunch at BGR. While I don’t think BGR is as good as it was during its early days, they do still turn out a satisfying burger, and their Box Set(burger, fries, and a drink) is a decent deal for Bethesda at $ 10.49. There is one thing I expect for that $ 10.49, and that’s hot fries. Just like last time(and the time before that), I was served cold fries, having to go back to the counter to ask for a fresh order — and, each time, my request was taken care of somewhat begrudgingly. I don’t expect over-the-top service at a burger joint, but the staff isn’t all that friendly, putting a bit of a down-note on things. I’ll be making a return trip at some point but, with an ever-more competitive burger market in the area, I’ll be trying out somewhere new next time around. The one thing that’s great at BGR, though… the 80s music!

Fresh, decent tasting burgers. Seems kind of overpriced. Would return, but not too often or anytime soon considering the cost. Nice service, no complaints there.

I love everything they cook here. I am not a big meat eater, but BGR is the exception. The meat is so juicy, and they have all the interesting toppings you could want. The only drawback is limited seating, but that’s Bethesda in general.

I came here after work craving something salty. I ordered a burger, fries and a shake. The burger was supposed to be medium, but it was quite well done. It tasted ok, but I imagine a lot of flavor was lost since it was overlooked. The fries were fresh and crispy, and the milkshake was great. Overall, BGR was fine, but nothing special. I

Such a rip-off — stay away! This place nickel and dimes you like I have never seen, and their prices are OUTRAGEOUS. I’ve been on a low-carb kick lately, so decided to head over to BGR during lunch when I saw they had a lettuce wrap option for their burgers. What I did not know, and what is not apparent on their website or anywhere else, is that they charge you separately for your burger, to put your burger on a wrap/bun/salad, and for your toppings. It is absolutely absurd that they charge to not serve you a completely naked burger, especially considering the price of a burger on its own is not cheap to begin with. I ordered a turkey burger, which by itself, without a bun, is $ 8.99. With the lettuce wrap(which cost extra. For a piece of lettuce), blue cheese(again, extra) and a side of grilled asparagus($ 3.99 for 6 pieces) it came out to $ 15. The turkey burger was unevenly cooked, had weird, hard chunks in it, and wasn’t very flavorful. The lettuce wrap was not a wrap, but just a piece of bitter lettuce. The asparagus was burnt and awful. $ 15 for one of the worst lunches I’ve ever had — and I didn’t even feel full afterward! BGR, change your pricing structure. Don’t charge your customers extra to put their burger on a bun. And cool your jets. With tons of other burger, pizza, and sandwich places that are far cheaper and better, you’re never going to stay in business serving less-than-mediocre $ 15 lunches.

This was our first and likely last time at BGR. We walked into BGR tonight and it smelled overwhelmingly like a port-a-potty — no joke. Talk about an appetite killer. My kids refused to eat there because of the smell. Despite the horrible smell, I took my chances and ordered(to go) a burger with sauteed mushrooms and french fries. I asked if the burgers came with lettuce and tomato. The cashier said yes. When my order came out, the burger had«The Works» on it. Apparently me asking if lettuce and tomato came with it translated to putting everything on it, including giant un-chewable onions and a gallon of sauce. The burger went back. Additionally, the fries were barely warm. I suppose they would have been great if they were hot and crispy, but sadly they weren’t. While my french fries got colder, they cooked a new burger for me, which was good, but not worth $ 12 and all that hassle.

The burgers are over priced and taste average for the cost. The lobster rolls are great and so are the fries. As a whole it’s average but I think it has a strange smell. Expensive for what it is.

BGR has the type of burgers I like. They have a smokey, flame-grilled flavor. And the toppings are splendid. However, the customer service can use some improvement.

This might be sacrilegious to say but I’m not overly impressed with this place. The burgers are OK, not great. It was pretty dry and the bun was completely soggy. The fries are very plain as well, although I haven’t tried adding the seasonings they offer for a charge. Maybe that makes a huge difference but as of now they aren’t very good. I see that they have expanded their menu and offer fancier options such as Ahi Tuna and Lobster Rolls. However I feel like if your restaurants name is BGR you should still have perfected the staple– regular burgers. For the price I wasn’t too impressed. The sliders are decent though. Also, not sure if this is their fault or just the delivery service but I tried to order delivery from there before and it took almost 2 hours to arrive.

I finally tried the ahi tuna burger. I am a fan of the beef burgers at BGR but have been wanting to try this one. It was worth the wait! The tuna steak was as big as the bun and about an inch thick. I would suggest not getting it cooked more than medium. Mine was cooked almost all the way through and I’d guess well done might end up dry. The mojo sauce made my bun soggy, but a burger is supposed to be messy, right? Plus I got it to go so didn’t eat it until about 20 minutes later. The teriyaki, pickled ginger, and pineapple slices meshed well with the tuna, giving it a definite Asian/Hawaiian spin. I would order this again when I’m feeling like eating something lighter than a beef burger. For all the health nuts, the calorie count is 300 – 500, unlike the other options which are 700+.

Plain and simple. I liked it. Natural burger which had a delicious taste. A large portion of skinny sweet fries… For less than 12 bucks. Again nothing fancy… But who needs fancy when you are getting a semi healthy burger? Enjoy

We found this place after a Google search for best burgers. Our son loves burgers and fries and we seek them out when we travel out of Texas. This place did not disappoint. You could tell the beef was high quality, the bun made locally and very tasty. We would definitely come again!

Best burgers in town! Although it is on the pricey side I think it is completely worth it! All of the ingredients used are fresh and high quality. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant and you can always count on BGR to play your favorite tunes. A little bonus is their wonderful custom soda machine!

Haven’t had a burger, but their fries are awesome. Some of them are longer than 6 inches. I was shocked and amazed, but it all tastes good. 3 stars until I have a burger and can more accurately rate their food.

I’ve been coming to this burger location for over ten years and for good reason. The quality of the burger is just better than most other burger places around. I had a Bacon Cheese Burger well done today with fries and a Chocolate Shake. My burger was again perfect. Over the years, the burger has gotten smaller, but it is still a great quality meat and they cook it just right. The fries are hot, fresh and well made. The shake was great. So thick, I needed a spoon. Some reviews have complained about the price, but I can’t ding a place for wanted to stay in business and make a profit. Overall, BGR is a great, fun place to have burger in a casual environment.

The BGR is not what it used to be. I have been a regular visitor of the BGR since 2011. However, the quality has steadily descended over time, primarily because of inept and unfriendly staff who just don’t care. This problem is not location-specific, several of their branches have similar issues(Bethesda, Arlington, DC). I did try to send a message to corporate about my bad experiences but it fell on deaf ears. I hope management gets their act together.

My review for this may be a bit late because I went with my boyfriend in July of last year. At the time, we were starving, so we got a little bit of everything. I ordered The Burger with lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, cheese, and bacon, with medium rare beef. I don’t quite remember what my boyfriend ordered, but I do know that his meat was to be cooked well-done. Now, I will list the only(!) down side in my experience of the BGR. The young woman who took our orders mixed up the meat preferences, so my boyfriend received medium rare beef on his burger, I received well-done beef on my burger. However, this may have been poor communication on our part as it was our first time going to the BGR and we were having trouble picking what we wanted. On the bright side of that, we were delighted to see the variety of options we had to choose from. With our burgers, we got fries, and a shake. First of all, the burgers were juicy, and flavorful. The meat and the sauce were my personal main joys of the burger, but all the flavors worked out so well together. Yes, it did get a little messy, but this added an extra hint of joy to my meal. The fries were crispy on the outside, and nice and starchy on the inside, as one would expect fries to be. The milkshakes were creamy, sweet, and rich — how I managed to clear my entire meal I still wonder. The staff were particularly friendly and welcoming. Right before my boyfriend and I left, we decided to get a soda and experiment with the soda machine(which has endless soda options, and is touchscreen if I remember correctly, however, do not quote me on that!). The worker there gave that to us for free, to which we were hesitant of because we were also planning on buying a cookie from the side of the cash register, but he gave us that for free, too! The atmosphere was not the atmosphere of a fast food joint, but of an actual local burger joint. Upon finding out it was a chain restaurant, I was quite surprised, but that won’t stop me from coming back to the BGR.
