I’m actually really surprised to see any reviews above 2 stars on this page. This place was seriously gross. Don’t come here

My mother and I stopped there today for lunch. We ordered grilled cheese sandwiches. I ordered a cheddar cheese grilled cheese. The cheese was shredded cheddar that was not melted. The cheese was hard and the bread was very was the absolute worse grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever seen. I did not eat it. When I told the waitress that the sandwich was horrible, she took it away and spoke to the owner. NOTHING was said to us about the horrible sandwich! No apologies, no offer to take it off our bill… nothing. The owner just stared at us as we paid our bill and left. I have to say the lack of cars in the parking lot should have been a clue that the food was bad. I will never go there again and will warn everyone I know not to eat there.

As a resident of Berlin, this place is very cheap and convenient from my home. Their mini-dinners are great because you can have a comforting meal and still be a cheap@$$. I have enjoyed their eggplant parm, stuffed cabbage, and chicken francaise. I think it is run by Polish people who are very nice. Nothing is fancy, but somehow, there is a good feeling inside. The interior has never been updated, so you feel like you went back to the 1980“s. Wine is cheap by the glass; I think under like $ 5. Unlike other diners, their dessert options are very disappointing with limited options and as the dessert is still in the package in the display. I forget the brand, but I have seen the same brand at Price Right. In that case, I would just order the meal and skip on the dessert. Might as well go to the nearby Stop & Shop for that.

Went out for some quick breakfast food and a place down the street I liked was packed full, so we tried starlight instead. I’m glad we did. This is another place with classic diner fare. Is it fancy, no. But its clean, the food is good, parking is excellent, and the waitstaff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Ordered French toast with a side of kielbasa, and the person I was with grabbed some blueberry pancakes with a side of sausage. Everything tasted good, and I’d happily order it again. I’m sure I’ll be back. Only downside — the men’s room is cramped. Its one of the tightest bathrooms I’ve seen in a restaurant. I’m guessing they had to convert it into a certain number of stall/urinals per capacity in order to meet code. But no stars removed since it(hopefully) has nothing to do with the food.

I had lunch at Starlight Diner today and left thinking, «that certainly wasn’t worth my money». The parking lot is oddly positioned. The more spacious side of the parking lot is located to the right of the building and the entrance to the diner is located to the left. There are very few parking spaces available on the entrance side(left) of the building. It seems awkward to park to the right of the building, in order to enter to the left. That in itself, did not seem warm and welcoming. Once I walked into the diner, the waitress saw me seat myself and then she disappeared. After a couple of minutes the cook came out of the kitchen to bring me a menu. How nice was that? The waitress then reappeared and acknowledged my presence. I kindly ordered the baked salmon dinner plate with soup, a veggie and mashed potatoes for $ 8.95. Good deal right? The soup was OK, the veggie was canned green beans which were tasteless by the way, and my dinner plate arrived with baked scrod instead of baked salmon!!! So… I let the waitress know that I ordered salmon and she immediately responded, «no you ordered the sole», but then promptly corrected herself by taking the plate back to the kitchen. I was left waiting with my canned green-beans in a side-dish and because they were tasteless, decided not to eat those. My salmon dish finally arrived and I started eating. By then my lunch break was almost over. Well, one bit and I knew that the salmon was a few minutes overcooked(those few minutes make a BIG difference) and the potatoes tasted like they were straight out of a box. I enjoy real food, what can I say? Maybe I’ll try their breakfast next time and see how that goes.

Please ignore the worthless cheap-shot«hair» Unilocal from the blatant troll. There’s no reputation of hair-laden food here… period. *eye roll* Been in Berlin for two months, and this is where we take friends and family when we want something quick and cheap nearby. It’s a diner, so I sincerely doubt there’s any must-have dishes on the menu, but everything so far has been very good. An absolute stroke of genius is the«Mini-Dinner» concept. How often have you seen a dish you wanted on a diner menu, but then doubted yourself because you figured it would just be too darn big? Not anymore. Pay a few bucks less, get a smaller portion, leave guiltless. Past favorites have included the lasagna and the stuffed cabbage. Both available in «Mini.» It’s Berlin’s flagship diner.

Good food(hamburger & fries, veggie burger). However, they charge extra for everything. A single slice of onion cost $ 1.00; putting the veggie burger on a hard roll, as the waitress suggested(since my husband is allergic to sesame), added 50 cents. None of this was mentioned to us when we ordered, altho it was mentioned in a box on the menu. Then they tried to charge us another extra dollar each for lettuce and tomato, which the menu said came with the order. They did remove the charge when we pointed this out. They made a few mistakes in delivering our order. We ordered a hamburger and a veggie burger; we originally got a hamburger and a cheese burger. The order was taken back, then a different server brought the SAME order back to us; it was taken back again, and finally delivered correctly. My husband had to ask for hot sauce several times. The food is good, but adding $ 2.50 to the price of our meals seemed a lot for 2 slices of onion and a hard roll.

Myself, my fiancé and our friend came here on the advice of said friend for a late lunch. I ordered my favorite Open Faced Turkey Sandwich. This came with choice of potato and a veggie. As it was on the special it also came with soup or salad and choice of coffee, tea or soda. It was $ 10.95 for all of that! It came out quickly and looked pretty much like a regular Open faced sandwich. It was really pretty darn good, I have to say. The gravy was nice, not too flour-y and the turkey was moist. Not sure if the potatoes were real or not but they tasted pretty darn good to me. After soup, coffee and ½ of my turkey and potato(brought home the other half) I was so full! Overall, I would go again and try something else. It’s pretty typical diner food. Oh and the waitress was nice too. :)

Just what you want in a diner: large menu, cheap prices, well lit and very clean. Servers are veteran locals but the owner could use a bit of a personality transplant. This is an update from an earlier review and reflects more experience with the locale.

Great breakfast specials M-Fri. Waitstaff is very good, attentive and friendly. Veterans Denise and Tracy are outstanding.
