The restaurant is small and the restroom is in the kitchen but if you want good food this is the place to go to.

My wife and I stopped in recently for lunch and were very disappointed by our meal. The Worthington Ridge Big Cheeseburger is enormous with a large patty nestled on top of a mammoth sized bun, but it tasted strange. I am not sure if it was the beef or something that was on the grill when it was cooked. My wife was equally disappointed with the tuna melt — large size, but poor quality ingredients. This visit represented both our first and last visit.

Visiting from out of town, and stopped here. We were blown away by the breakfast. Everything on my plate(eggs, pancake, bacon, sausage, toast, homefries) was wonderful.

I know, Josie’s Corner is getting all the rage, if only because it faces the main drag in Berlin, and I speculate that may be part of the reason. But my wife and I prefer our Sunday brunches here, the smaller place with the less impressive signage and the storefront that doesn’t even face the road. I say this with no disrespect to Josie, of course… they’re very good too. But I just really dig this hidden gem, a miniature diner with no more than seven tables and half a dozen counter spaces, ready to serve a great breakfast or lunch. So far, I haven’t even bothered to flip over to the lunch page, because I’ve had two awesome breakfasts. Fear not when ordering a dish or combo that features just one pancake… these things are enormous. You may not finish one, and would likely regret ordering two. Thick, tasty, cooked well. And never underestimate the power of quality, thick-cut bacon. Two strips is enough! I’m sure we’ll still mix things up with the Starlight and Josie’s, which along with Berlin Fare comprise the«Holy Trinity» of diners on Route 372. But if I had to pick one…

First time in the area looking for a fairly quick lunch. Based in fellow Unilocalers decided to stop in. I was greeted very warmly by Amy(hope I remembered her name correctly) and was the only one there due to the odd hour. The place is reminiscent of an old time luncheonette. I ate at the counter which had a nice view of the big screen TV playing an old Whoopie Goldberg movie that neither Amy or I ever figured out the name of. Nice menu for a small place so tough decision. The special or a burger were recommended but I went with a Kielbasa sandwich. They had freshly baked(local bakery) cranberry walnut bread so I asked that it be put on that. I was told the fries were freshly cut so I thought I’d try those too. The sandwich came out perfectly toasted from the flattop blending the cheese and kraut nicely. It tasted good but could’ve been much better with a better sausage. The fries were excellent. Freshly hand cut and nicely seasoned. As I was sitting there the special came out. It was a very hearty plate with double pork chops over mashed potatoes and veggies. As this is the usual Thursday special, I may just have to come back. The owner/cook Brian obviously cares about what he does. He took over about 9 months ago and I hope the community supports him and that he’s there for a long time.

Since I had some time off last week from work, me, myself, and I decided to try one of a few breakfast spots in my charming hometown of Berlin, CT. I especially wanted to try Berlin Fare because it is the closet to my house. Thankfully this place did not disappoint! I felt like I went back in time and up North to Vermont; the décor had the New England rustic appeal, but was very clean at the same time. The menu had some of the traditional breakfast standards, but had some different items too! The special of the day was an egg sandwich with peppers, pepper jack cheese and steak which came with terrific bottomless coffee! Since I did not have time to nurse a food coma, the special was the perfect choice. BONG! The sandwich was amazing and I savored every bite! The people were so kind and inviting! From what I gathered, there were a lot of regular customers there. And get this, THEYTAKECREDITCARDS! Writing this review makes me crave that sandwich! I can’t wait to bring my hubby there so we can gobble down the menu… lol! On a good day, I can walk there!

This is a hidden treasure. It reminds me of the lunchonettes my Dad used to take me to when I was a kid. They have a host of regular customers. Awesome coffee and eggs. They are really kind to your pocketbook and they make a really unusual buttermilk pancake which is literally the size of a pan. Great quick inexpensive stop for a great meal. My 3 year old l oily vets that pancake!

Just went back to The Berlin Fair, this time for Breakfast. I had an amazing Omelet. It was a nicely seasoned 6 veggie, 3 large egg omelet, with Cheddar cheese, Pumpernickel bread and home fires. I also ordered a burger with Italian herbs and spices on the side instead of bacon or breakfast sausage. The Omelet was excellent as was the toast, home fries and burger, along with a an endless cup of good coffee. The burger had to be 9 or 10 ounces. I couldn’t even finish it. Needless to say, I didn’t have to eat again all day, LOL!!! Price was real reasonable too.

I had lunch at the Berlin Fare Restaurant yesterday because it was conveniently located. It’s a cute, rustic looking little joint. My co-worker and I sat, the waitress immediately greeted us and brought us our menus. We noticed that the table and menus were very sticky. None the less, we each ordered our food and I then asked to use the ladies room. The waitress directed me through the kitchen to the back. Well, what does one do when walking through the kitchen of a restaurant? One looks at how clean the kitchen is, right? To my amazement, the kitchen seemed impeccably spotless. The tables and menus were extremely sticky and in need of a good cleaning, but not the kitchen. Mr. Chef, please ask your wait staff to do some cleaning! Maybe you’ll pick up a few more customers along the way. So now let’s move onto the food. Well I ordered the lunch special which was Pasta Bolognese and my co-worker ordered the Classic Burger. The food arrived in a timely manner and it actually tasted great! The serving was on the larger side and was very simply plated. For some reason, I was expecting less. The Bolognese was served with Cavatappi which surprisingly, did the trick and it also came with a side of toast. Cute right? As far as my co-worker’s burger… well he said it was cooked just as he likes it, it looked like it was made with 100% pure ground beef(not a frozen burger patty) and it too was huge. So try it out and maybe by the time you do, they’ll have wiped down the tables and menus.

Loved the atmosphere, however the food left much to be desired. Can’t believe its not butter, No seriously Everything is cooked with and coated with margerin. All the food came out too fast, and it was easy to tell why. the only thing that was fresh were the eggs and pancakes. All meat and potatoes were prepared hours ago and barely warmed up before plating. the sausage was actually cold to touch. Won’t be returning.

The essence of local flavor. Tiny old style place with great people, both patrons and workers. This was my first trip so I see from other reviewers that the owners are a married couple and I have to say you are made to feel welcome. The food is very good, service quick and friendly and the prices very decent. A real neighborhood joint. Only suggestion — get some real cream for the coffee.

Love this place. Friendly, for some reason never packed when I go with the family, great omelettes actually cooked in a pan, and reasonable prices. Nice job!

An unpretentious dinette where all are made to feel as they are part of the family. Jocular banter is mixed in with excellent food, making this the best kept secret of the area. Try the mushroom spinach asaigo omelet that IMHO rivals the best meals I’ve ever eaten. Gotta love chef Don, who sings along with the radio, and waitress Joanne, one of the sweetest and most authentic people I’ve ever met.

Also known as «Grumpy Don’s», this is a super place for breakfast or lunch. Don is anything but«grumpy», he is personable and sincere, and he’s also elevated singing along(in the bass range) with radio oldies, while cooking, to a high art. He’s created a great neighborhood spot with lots of character and pizzazz, as well as a loyal customer base. Excellent home fries and daily specials, and see if he’s got some pierogies around(he sometimes does, though they’re no longer on the menu). This is a one-of-a-kind spot, check it out, just of Rt 9 exit 22, in the back of the plaza across from Citgo.

Husband and wife owned and operated. Serves breakfast and lunch, take-out or dine in. Wooden benched tables with posters and ads of yester-year under the table glass. Walls are covered by framed art, antique and unique decore. When we entered we were. Warmly greeted by the husband who brought us coffee. While we looked over the menus we were entertained by his story of traveling to NH which was brought up since we were on our way back to Maine. After order was in locals made small talk with the two of us which is what I like about small town diners. The food was wonderful and if we are ever in the area we will return for more.

Great overstuffed sandwiches and burgers. Fast service and the chowder in the fall and winter is the best around. I say YES to Berlin Fare Restaurant
