The most amazing Middle Eastern food in the metro Detroit area period! I love this place. You cannot go wrong with anything you order from their menu and it is exciting to watch them make your food despite it being in a gas station location. They are very nice and I have never had them mess up any of my orders. When my family wants food from there, we will generally get a platter with a various selection of items. Try anything there — I mean anything and you won’t be disappointed.

Visiting Berkley last week and our kids recommended this place. We got dinner for 7 with a good variety of items. Everything was very good and the spice was spot on. Good value and we had leftovers for brunch the next day. Hommus was more than good and their salad dressings really pop. We’ll be back.

The best!!! Our entire family loves Mr. Kabob! We’ve been eating here for years and have never had a bad experience. The food is delicious! The staff is great! One of our favorites!

This place is ridiculously good… arguably one of the best chicken shwarmas in Michigan. It is probably the main competitor to Bucharest Grill(in Detroit) in terms of shwarma size, price, and of course, FLAVOR. I’ve eaten takeout from here many times at my Uncle’s, but eating inside is also fun, if not a bit novel. It’s just not that common to find quality food in a gas station. =) The clerk who rang us up comes across as being a really nice, genuine guy. Also, not sure where they get their boklava or if they make it, but WOW… it’s the real deal. Great place. Highly recommended.

Of course I have reservations about eating food I buy at a gas station. Everyone should. But this place was recommended to me by some friends who live around the corner and while I doubted them, I decided to give it a try. Fantastic chicken shawarma that I crave on the regular.

I work nearby, and Mr. Kabob is my go-to place for lunch. I order the chicken shawarma with rice and soup every time, and my tummy is always happy! For lunch, the chicken shawarma is only $ 7.49(less than $ 8 with tax), and the portion is very generous. If I finish everything, I’m usually uncomfortably full. The ingredients are fresh, the service is quick, and I don’t feel guilty after eating this meal. I can’t ask for anything more! I don’t work in the area as often now, but I’m actually looking forward to my next shift just so that I can get more chicken shawarma from Mr. Kabob.

Too bad I waited so long to try this place. I’ve heard it from many people that it was great. They were right. I am excited to try the entire menu. — I coun’t care less that it is in a gas station. The servce was fast and friendly — the food was clean and tasty.

It may seems slightly odd to order lunch or dinner form a gay station but this is one you MUST try. The food is delicious, the sandwich is packed full of meat and goodness. I strongly suggest trying this place if you never have, or returning if you want some good food at a fair price. I do wish they would bring back their loyalty program. It was a card that after seven sandwiches the eighth was free. They have recently stopped handing out the cards.

The gas station Arabic joint. Yes, I know you’ve heard of it, and I know you’re curious. Everybody who’s anybody who knows anybody will tell you how good the food here is. It’s quick fast Arabic food slung out of a gas station convenient shop. I guess you can consider this shop as a hole in the wall. You line up, you order your food, wait a little bit, then pick up your food. There are high tables with high chairs if you choose to wanna eat your food in the premises. But most of the people who come here so usually just for take out. Deboned chicken, fallafel, babaganouj and lastly some shish kafta for the win. The Deboned chicken is very good, that char grilled taste, the juicy chicken, yes! You are a winner my friend. The fallafel has to be one of the best fallafel I have ever had ever. Babaganouj is very tasty. The shish kafta is outstanding! You wouldn’t expect this kind of caliber from a gas station hole in the wall, but these guys definitely know what they’re doing. I am a big fan now. We’ve enjoyed our dining experience here and will return for more in the future. Thank you so much Mr Kabob! You are definitely the truth! This may actually be the best gas station food you can get in the state of Michigan. Located in the Sunoco on the corner of 12 mile and Coolidge, you can easily miss this place or pass it off as not worth it. Do not. I consider myself a pretty good source of information on the Mediterranean food in the area. And in the Royal Oak, Berkeley, and Ferndale area this is the best I’ve found. I usually get the SAM salad which can be pictured as if you combined a chicken schwarma and a fattoush salad and blended it together. It sounds strange, but just try it. You won’t be disappointed. Their garlic sauce is out of this world. Tasty without being way too salty like some sauces can be. Chicken is always tender and perfectly cooked. Plenty of parking in the gas station. They have limited seating, this place is mostly a carry out location. Absolutely the cheapest prices for how good the food is. They could charge 30 percent more and I wouldn’t complain. Overall: Some of the best Mediterranean food you can get in the D.

This is no regular food from a gas station this place pumps out the real thing. If you don’t know already Mr Kabob is worth stopping for a fill up. They been in business for 12 years now and don’t disappoint, they are the Best of the Best in Metro Times and featured in the news, so yes it better be good, And Mr Kabob is. The menu is middle eastern so yea shawarmas and wraps but dig a little deeper and their lots of tasty stuff to be found, all made fresh fast and soo tasty. But next time no tomatoes on my chicken shawarma but with extra pickles and garlic.

I grew up in Dearborn so I’ve been spoiled with delicious Middle Eastern food most of my life. It also means that I’m extremely picky about it. And Mr. Kabob, in all its gas station glory, lives up to the hype. Cheap, delicious, quick… all line up to make one fine eatery. Sure, its casual. There are only a few seats at a window bar for eating in and the rest of the business is the gas station store, but the food is so so worth it. My favorite is the chicken kebob meal. Delicious chicken chunks, perfectly cooked rice, pungent and creamy garlic sauce, plus a salad or soup. I always opt for the lentil soup which is fantastic. If you’re on the fence, give it a try. You won’t regret it!

Okay, not going to lie, I was skeptical about coming here because my vision of gas station food as old hot dogs of questionable origin rolling around in shiny animal fat was firmly in my mind. This is the exact opposite of that. Tasty tasty food that tastes fresh and just… well, good! Had the chicken schwarma and house salad and tasted some of my friends baba ganoussh. Everything was great! Notably, I don’t normally like baba ganoussh that much, but this made me a convert. Price: good, filling meal for 5 – 10 dollars Ambiance: well it’s a gas station… but there are tables inside to eat. Service: quick and efficient NB: You’re going to get everything in a to-go box Enjoy Unilocalers!

Don’t be fooled by their being in a gas station, the food is extremely good, always fresh and prepared quite quickly. Not only is it delicious, but the prices are quite fair, the quantities are generous and you can pick up some gas while you wait. The only reason they don’t get five stars is that they are not very nice. Almost all the workers come off as being inconvenienced by your coming there and buying their food. They’re jerks, but damnit it is delicious. My favorite items — Kafta sandwich, fattoush salad, hummus

Mr. Kabob is very close to work, so we sometimes go there to pick up lunch. Don’t let the fact that it’s in a gas station dissuade you from going there. The food is very good &reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and efficient, and they do a booming business; the counter was completely filled with orders when I walked in and there were a couple people waiting, so I figured it would be a while. But by the time I finished paying(you pay at the gas station counter rather than at the restaurant counter), it was ready for me. They do have a few tables and have made an attempt to make it a nicer gas station, but I would still get your meal to go. One note: I have only had the vegetarian choices, so I cannot attest to their meat dishes.

I want to like it better than I do, honest! The biggest issue, for me, is that whenever I’ve tried their chicken shawarma, the chicken is always, always, always cooked to the point of being very, very dry. You know when white meat sort of «crumbles» in your hands because it’s been grilled too long? That’s the case, here. You’d hope that the garlic and other ingredients would allow for some wiggle room by adding moisture, but unfortunately, it just isn’t the case. As a result, it’s an incredibly dry sandwich that doesn’t really satisfy on a culinary scale. Sure, it feeds you, and no: it won’t get you sick. Will you be craving chicken shawarma afterwards? Yes, but not more of the same from Mr. Kabob… you’ll be wanting something better, or at the very least, not dried out. I completely and totally respect their location and the fact that they’re a local institution, but I regularly drive elsewhere because I can’t get the«It’ll be all dried out!» idea out of my head when I think of going here. It’s too bad, as it’s about the only honest gas station food that I can think of.

FABULOUS food! The lentil soup is out of this world. It’s so rich that you won’t believe that it’s vegetarian. Shawarma is amazing. Felafel is terrific. I dream of their Baba ghanoush. The fattoush salad is great. It’s all so good! Mr. Kabob, a plea from a fan: start offering delivery. Please, please, please.

Of course you would be a little skeptical trying any take out from a gas station. But, prep yourself for DELICIOUS food!!! One carry out and we are hooked! The place is busy every day of the week, but the service is fast and the servings are generous. We always get the roasted red pepper hummus and the chicken & beef shawarma. They are delicious. Nice large hunks of meat on the shawarma’s. The sauce is light and fresh and overall just tasty. The hummus is amazing with the fresh pita bread — you can’t get enough. I personally think they have the best steak fries and roasted veggies. My Husband loves the lentil soup and every time he gets it — it’s gone in a just a few minutes. They offer a lot of variety of food for everyone — they even have burgers! Make sure you grab a punch card because in no time you will be back with more holes in that card. The food is that good!

So this place is in a gas station, and seriously runs circles around most of the Middle Eastern restaurants I’ve been too. The food is super fresh and you can stand there and watch them cook from start to finish, all day, everyday if you like. The staff is hilarious to me. The main guy there always seems to have an attitude and never smiles, but after a few visits, you learn he is really nice and attentive, and just never shows it on his face. I went through a phase where I was obsessed with their pickles(seriously, their pickles are like crack, very addictive). When he figured out who we were on the phone(we often called in our orders), he started including extra pickles even if my husband forgot to ask. My favorite meals are the chicken schwarma sandwich and the chicken schwarma plate with rice and salad. Their garlic sauce is stupid good. You won’t even care that your breath is hot because it is worth it. The salad’s are huge, the chicken breast is always delicious, and the rice with almonds is superb. I often buy a large and refry it with ground beef or whatever leftover protein I have in the house the next day. You will not regret eating here. Very clean. Very good. Very healthy.

Wow this place is good. No! Its great! I don’t know why I think it is so much better than the Lebanese/Middle eastern places around the area, but opinions are opinions. Regardless, this place does a ton of business. I love getting lunch. It’s an awesome deal. Chicken, rice(or fries), salad(or soup), and pita for $ 8 or Kafta for $ 7. In addition to these, they have all the standard fair. Its the same friendly staff every day who are churning food out and I don’t ever remember waiting more than 10 minutes for a carry out. There are a few tables inside but it really is a carryout. It isn’t open very late, which is a shame but I’ll take what I can get.
