No more durian pancakes. :(I had durian mochi because I wanted to try durian… It was as gross as people say it is! Service was friendly and fast and it’s a nice place to sit.

Okay, honestly speaking I am just a little confused on what’s going on here… did they do a re-grand opening or something? I came here last night and they had a sign out saying BOGO for drinks and I assumed they were new because who else would do that? Also, inside they only had their drink menu up. No desserts. Taste was a little interesting. It wasn’t busy when I went, but there was one customer who kept talking and it was only one dude working so it kinda held up a bit. Eventually the customer left and I’m guessing the girl in front wanted to order desserts and the cashier told her that only their drink menus were up right now so no desserts so she left in a hurry. I was confused, but didn’t really question it. I ordered their earl grey milk tea with whole milk. I guess what’s nice about this place is that they have a lot of different milk options. At least you know you can kinda customize it to your liking. Their earl grey milk tea was alright. The flavor could’ve been stronger. Eventually the ice melted and it made the drink slightly watered down so the flavor kinda disappeared slightly. I don’t know. Not totally a fan.

Really good hot desserts for a cold day. Sesame soup and taro sago were very good when warm. They make their stuff in house and you can taste the difference in quality it makes. Will certainly come back again!

Nice Chinese dessert place that’s close by in Berkeley! I got the mango mochi and they didn’t skimp out on the mochi which was nice. The mango mochi tasted delicious! I also got the black sesame soup which was good. It can be either hot or cold! They were out of egg puffs so next time I want to try that and durian pancakes! If I ever feel like shooting star, I’ll come here because it’s so close!

If you’re looking for durian, they have it here! Durian snow boba, durian mochi, durian pancakes, durian sago. The menu has a lot of food and drink options in general,(non-durian) The girl working here was so nice and helpful, she let us try samples of durian before ordering a whole meal of it. I like it, but it’s not for everyone! The shaved ice is really good, the only thing is they are pretty small. One order of shaved ice would feed 1, maybe 2 people. I would have given five stars but she forgot our toppings on two different shaved ice, and forgot to give me my drink until we were about to leave. :| great service other than that

OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! They have snow ice here! I LOVE snow ice! We ordered the mango snow ice with condensed milk and mango mochi and it satisfied my craving for a cold dessert. We ordered a small size and it was prefect for 2 people. Even though we ordered the mango snow with condensed milk, we didn’t feel like it was needed at the end because the ice that was used was soooooooo smooth! The mochi was a tad harder than what I was used to but overall it was a pretty satisfying dessert! We will definitely come here again! They serve things with durian, so it might smell funky at the cash register. Nice servers!

I ordered so much and everything tasted pretty good! I got the glutinous rice balls with peanuts and sesame, almond snow tea, durian and banana pancake, and this black rice thing with coconut. I hope Taste stays around! It’s so hard to find hk desserts not in sf especially durian pancake. And this one is so close to me! The waitress was also very nice. The only thing I advise is a lot less whip cream for the banana and durian pancake.

This place kind of reminds me of Quicklys. I heard this place opened not long ago and I was in Berkeley so my friend brought me over here. They have the typical drinks, snacks, pudding, and some other interesting desserts. We ordered a green tea snow ice and it was okay, kind of sweet but nothing too special. The service was kind of slow. There was only one person working at the cashier and I believe another lady working in the back since she brought out the desserts. Hmm, but I heard the sago is good?

The first time I went here, I was upset that it wasn’t Honeyberry. I absolutely loved the shaved ice at Honeyberry, so I was hoping TASTE’s would be just as good. I ordered the Taro shaved ice, and wasn’t very impressed by it. Then I came back and decided to give it a second chance because my sister was visiting and wanted to try it. This time I read Unilocal beforehand and we decided to order the Durian Pancakes and Mango Pudding. The Durian Pancakes were interesting, but nothing I would order again. There was a lot of whipped cream and durian inside of it. I think you have to really like durian to take full advantage of the«pancakes»(they’re more like crepes). The Mango Pudding was super duper though! So refreshing and yummy. Something I couldn’t get tired of. I would definitely come back for that. The service was a little bit slow. It took a long time for the cashier to ask us for our order, and it looked like the cash register was broken too so it took even more time to order. At first we wanted to order the taro sago, but they eventually told us that it was sold out(which was when we ordered the mango pudding). Overall, you need to know what to order, but they do have some good things here!

My friend and I definitely got fooled by all of the nice pictures on Unilocal. We ordered the green tea snow/shaved ice with mango mochi. Boy, the mochi are soooo hard like they had been left out in the air for ages! And the green tea flavor is so fake and chemical. The shaved ice itself cost $ 4.5 without any topping or sauces, and it costs an extra $ 0.50 for each topping or sauce, which can be very costly if you need to add several toppings. The second thing we ordered was the Macau pudding… we paid $ 4.75 for a really tiny cup of soggy and room temp Macau pudding. FYI, the real Macau pudding is served cold! Very disappointed… Last, we ordered the durian pancake. It’s the best out of the 3 we ordered, but I hope they will stop putting the chocolate sauce over it because the taste doesn’t match with durian at all! Don’t just put something on the food just to make it looks good but sacrificing the taste! Maybe someone else would like such combination, but definitely not me(imagine dipping a piece of durian into the chocolate sauce, maybe you’ll know why). In conclusion, I finally understand why there were only a few customers in the store during my visit on a normal business day near a school campus. I’m very disappointed with their food quality, and I don’t think I will ever return unless their food is better :-/

This order is exclusively for the green tea snow ice and black glutinous rice with coconut. I ordered green tea snow ice with strawberry and condensed mild and mini Mochi. I thoroughly enjoyed this desert. The texture of the snow ice took a little while to get used to, but was good overall. The black glutinous rice with coconut wasn’t bad either.

Bubble tea place close to UC Berk Walking down the street, this place stands out because of the warm color/lighting inside. The wait staff are nice, being happy the help. The quality of the drinks are also not bad – the milk tea was pretty smooth and cold. It’s too bad they don’t offer free wifi(I asked) The place is opened pretty late, even though there aren’t a lot of people there late at night. They also serve warm desserts, which apparently is pretty popular because other tables seem to have ordered it Overall, a good place to drop in if you walk by.

Finally, a place in the Bay that sells amazing durian crepes. I am a huge lover and advocate of the stinky fruit — durians at their best are soft, sweet and extra creamy. And that is exactly how Taste serves their durian crepes. YUM. An order of crepes come with 2 durian crepes, filled generously with extra smooth durian purée and drizzled with chocolate sauce. The durian filling is amazing! It’s really sweet and creamy, and because they chill it, it has fantastic mouth feel. The chilled nature of the dessert also ensures the smell isn’t too overwhelming, no need to brush three times a day to get rid of the smell! All in all, I really wish I had ordered a whole plates of crêpe(or two) for myself, but I didn’t want to look like a pig, so I will just have to go back again(and again, and again) to have my fill of tasty durian crêpe and to also try out some of their other desserts which also look amazing.

This is my first time at Taste and I ordered the Mango Snow with Mango Mochi(for an additional .50 cents). I was pleased with the Mango Snow, it tasted exactly like a frozen mango thus delicious but this has nothing to do with my three star rating. The first reason, is that there were 5 measly pieces of Mochi in my snow, I expected a little bit more than that since I had to pay extra but that’s not a big deal. When I went in tonight, the place smelled like gas. Not like farts. Like actual gas. As if they had a gas leak recently which I can’t say sounds incredibly safe but for the whole 20 minutes I was there… that’s all it smelled like. It also took a little while for our order to come out as well. We saw one employee come out of the kitchen and into the dinning room two to three times for no reason. What are you doing there, bud? Taste has AWESOME snow but gets three stars from me for minimal Mochi and that horrid gas smell.

Best snow in town! We ordered the Orea cookie snow ice with banana and the mango snow ice with boba and mochi. They both were incredibly tasty and filling! And splitting it with a friend keeps it cheap and is still plenty enough to fill you up. They also have tons of teas and dessert soups that I want to try next time! It’s the perfect dessert to end the night.

One of the new Asian pop ups in Berkeley. I ordered the taro sago dessert here and I didn’t enjoy it much. Nothing special for average taste. Many restaurants provide better quality taro sago as their end-of-meal dessert. And it wasn’t too cheap at ~$ 4 a bowl. But if you need a place to chill with friends, this place will do. Plenty of small tables and chairs. Pretty extensive menu, so I may give this place another try and order something else.

Service was pretty bad especially when i was 1 out of the 3 groups of people who were eating there. They forgot to give us our order and I had to check with them and the lady who worked there claimed they already gave it to us… i don’t remember eating the food. I like that they try though and they are still nice about everything. I have been to better tasting places for tofu and shaved ice.

I’m giving them a 3-star just because I’m now a fan of watermelon smoothie boba. It is on the overly sweet side, but I personally don’t mind. That’s the only item I’ve gotten here at Taste so far, but, because I’m seeing so many mixed reviews, I’m hesitant on whether I should come back to try their shaved ice, which is their main item… They could definitely work on expanding their menu.

Finally, a Taiwanese-style shaved snow operation on Telegraph Avenue. An excellent ice treat alternative to the sugary, sickly sweet mess that is CREAM down the street. The space used to be occupied by «Honey Berry,» a thinly-disguised Pinkberry knockoff froyo operation. I don’t know if there’s been an ownership change or just a format change, but it’s now operating as TASTE — Which, improbably, stands for Tea And Snow To Enjoy. And the shaved snow was indeed perfectly enjoyable. Good snow texture, perfectly tasty. Portions lean towards compact and not heaping, but for me it was just the right size. I’m left wishing that the mango version used Manila/Champagne mangos, but look, if I’m not making trips to Ice Monster in Taipei, far be it for me to complain. Someone must have started importing the snow machines, because these things are poised to follow the boba tea popularity wave. Yes I know the kids in the 626 and even 650 have had them for a while now, but we’re slow over here in the 510.
