Amazing food– this is not your average Indian restaurant. The spice pallet seems like it may be larger than most places as each dish had its own distinct flavor. Service was also very vegan friendly, just be sure to ask. Our server replaced the flat bread that has butter in it for extra sides and removed non vegan chutney from the table. I think this is a mom and pop operation with wife cooking the fabulous cuisine.

This is a good place to eat lunch, if you’re in the neighborhood — typical steam table buffet with naan, chicken mahkni(«butter chicken,» if you will), bone-in goat curry, three kinds of chutney, gulub jamun(sweet cheese balls), yogurt with cucumber, basmati rice, vegetable biryani, and so on. It’s not crowded or loud.

Came here for the $ 10 Saturday lunch buffet 11 – 3 Food was ok some dishes better than others. I liked the sambar and daal Desert was good — mango fruit mix. Good service relatively clean inside good atmosphere Only the goat curry was hot rest of food is mild spicy.

Pros: Very friendly family business. Nice, warm energy in this place. Great Chicken Tikka Masala with a creamy sauce. Good gulab jamun, mushroom(curry?), raita. They had a Sunday night buffet! Cons: Some of the food was dry towards end of the night at the buffet. Rice pudding could not even be scraped up. Mango pudding was like a pudding out of a packet. Naan was dry and flavorless. Neutrals: Curries were quite spicy for me. Buffets are fun but ala carte will always taste better. Despite my criticisms, I gave this 4 stars. Last time I was here, we honored my friend’s recently deceased father. It turned out to be a nice gathering. We were about 16 people. The staff did a great job of taking care of us. Tonight my partner and I had a sweet, fun date together. Priya is a nice place to go.

The staff is very nice and welcoming. This family-owned restaurant combines traditional cooking and taste for an all-around unique experience. The buffet is hit or miss, but the dinners or a la carte items are prepared fresh and flavorful. I would recommend giving this place a try.

I don’t usually take the time to write reviews. Who does? I do now to show my appreciation for the good food here at Priya. Everything tastes good to me. The nan was a little thin for my taste but its the creamy tomato soup that sealed it for me at 5 stars. Thanks Priya.

Nothing Indian about the food served here. Okra was abysmal, dal was full of garlic and nothing else. Pakoras were stale. The naan was the only good thing. To top all, this place is a rip off for the quality of food.

Just visited again after a long time. Food is even better than before. Tried the Fish Masala Thali and loved it. My friend had the Saag Lamb Thali and enjoyed it too. Must go more often.

I love Indian food, and even more Indian buffet so I can get so many different things. This place was stumbled upon by my group on vacation and we were starving and we all love Indian Buffet so we gave it a shot. the place was clean despite what these other reviews say. i saw no bugs, but I don’t really care anyway. The pekora was awesome, the Murgh kicked butt, the Saag with mushrooms was unbelievable, and the mint chutney set everything off. Like all Indian buffets the spice is toned down a bit for the average customer, but they managed to do it without losing flavor. So happy with this place, next time I am in town they will see me more than once.

The food here gets better every time we go. Each time I have eaten at Priya I have gotten the Thali dinner with a vegetarian entrée. It comes with gigantic portions of naan, papadum, raita, soup, daal, vegetable curry, and a main dish curry. The vegetable curry is different every time and so delicious! We’ve had lentils, okra, potato, mixed vegetables — basically everything — with our meal. Priya is family-owned and operated, and our favorite waiter’s wife make these delicious pickled vegetable condiments that are so unique and flavorful. Every meal is cooked by the mom of the waiters and she likes to change things up. Our personal favorites are the navratan korma, mutter paneer, and the malai kofta, but we are vegetarian and have not tried the meat dishes. Priya has expanded our palate and exposed us to so many new flavors that we have never tasted before. We are sometimes disappointed when we go to other Indian restaurants because the food tastes bland in comparison. We love spicy food, and Priya has never asked us how spicy we want our entrée, but it has never been overly spicy and always seems appropriate to the dish. Each curry is prepared individually with at least 10 different spices. The buffet is adequate but not as mind-blowing as the Thali dinner. The wine is cheaper than most Berkeley restaurants(13.95 for a giant carafe) and pairs nicely with spicy and creamy curries(the white tends to be a crisper green-apple shark punch). The music is fantastic, mostly Tollywood, and if you ask the waiters they will download albums straight to your mobile device(if you have android)! Priya is spacious and quiet and is a great place to take a date or a group of friends. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly.

Very authentic. Very clean. Very nice people. I go there a few times a month. I always go in for their buffet because is it hard for me to find a Indian Buffet for dinner, and I LOVEIT. they always get me to try new things. They give so much on their dinner platters, I can’t even eat half of it.

Ordered a vegeterian biryani … Tasty n filling. A gulab jamun summed up great dinner. Can’t expect much spiceness but that doesn’t take anything away though

I haven’t written a review in ages, but tried a new restaurant today and I’m sitting around not doing anything, so figured I’d put in my two cents. Anyway…this place is just around the corner from my house and I’ve been wanting to try it for awhile. It’s been forever since I had Indian food too, so the boyfriend and I headed over for lunch today. We ended up doing the buffet, so my review is really only going to speak to that, but I was very impressed. There were a lot of different options in the buffet, and everything I had was very tasty. Naan was included, there were two kinds of rice, tandoori chicken, a couple different curries and veggie dishes, as well all the different chutneys and yummy sauces, soups and dessert. The buffet was only $ 10, which I thought was a great deal. My boyfriend also had an Indian beer I’d never tasted before, a light lager, The Flying Horse. So delicious, very light and very effervescent. I usually don’t go for light lagers, but I was very impressed with this one and would for sure drink it again. So, overall had a nice time and a delicious lunch at a very reasonable price. Obviously can’t say much for the regular menu or dinner, but the lunch buffet was quite nice and I would absolutely go back.

Lunch /Dinner Buffet $ 11.99 Feh… Just, not a good value How can I say on the buffet? It has every possible chance, but somehow it just leaves me without excitement. Not cheap, not special… Keep on looking, this is not the one.

Although I’ve tried other Indian restaurants that are far better than this one, the food here isn’t that bad, even after reading a number of pejorative reviews about this place. However, I would have to concur with what most reviewers had been complaining about: sanitary issues and a disregard for their customers’ health as well as food of poor quality. In fact, I don’t think I’ll be returning to this place until they’ve addressed these aforementioned issues. If you still decide to give this restaurant a try, I would suggest that you just stick with their lunch buffet, which is decent. My only caveat is that you have to watch out for stuff that aren’t supposed to be in your food as well as discerning whether their food is no longer safe for consumption because it isn’t fresh. Their chicken tandoori was not the best, and their butter chicken was quite watery and not creamy as it is supposed to be. Despite these issues, I would have to say that their buffet price is pretty good.
