Persimmon

I bought 2 long sleeve tops from cut loose and a silk blouse from Tianello that I love. Store clerk could have been warmer. They seemed more concerned about the boxes laying around than me. Second shop in Berkeley with less than warm people working there.

Based on the reviews, I will give Persimmon a second try. I was in the store recently, loved the selection but couldn’t get the attention of the salesperson (owner?). I had a few questions but she was involved with another customer and I couldn’t catch her eye. I tried on a jacket that I liked and stood at the register for over five minutes before leaving. I figured if they don’t want the $ 150, I can spend it elsewhere.
Was this an anomaly?

I’m adding a fifth star: Persimmon now has blouses that I can button and they don’t gap open at the bustline. Thank you Persimmon.

This is a small shop with quality items (clothing and much more). I always find unique gifts and stylish reasonably priced merchandise. I most appreciate the non-​intrusive sales ladies who point out clothing I wouldn’t normally choose for myself, expanding my wardrobe. They are also diplomatically honest and prevent me from buying things that really don’t work on me.
Love this store.

I adore this store, and have for many years. My favorite dress, sweater (a number!), socks, soaps, and a few necklaces are from Persimmon. They have kooky and fun choices, lovely taste, and the salespeople (and owner, I believe) are truly sincere, friendly, and helpful. It is my first stop for gifts for my daughters and friends.

It was years since I last visited Persimmon. Went back today and immediately understood its lasting background lure for me. The place is small, but, as Spencer Tracy reassured Katherine Hepburn, it is also «cherce.» The clothing is of high quality, and prices reflect that without being outrageous. A good place to go if you don’t have a lot of time to waste going through racks at the usual department stores, but need something stylish and sophisticated, or casual and elegant. Staff is helpful without being intrusive. Small shop, big returns.

Loved this place and their merchandise. I could easily have bought a lot more than I did, but I could also picture trying to explain this to my husband later. The prices ranged from $ 1 to $ 100+. Adorable cat Christmas ornaments were $ 11 each. I bought two pair of locally made fingerless gloves, cute as can be, for $ 24 each. A cute beret was a reasonably priced $ 16. I bought a small $ 3 item that I knew a close friend would adore. A very sweet sales lady did a marvelous job of wrapping this item, and it looks like whatever is inside must have cost a fortune. Customer service was very good. The jewelry selection is very nice with some unique pieces and reasonably priced. I can see why my friend says this is her favorite store in Berkeley.

Half or my clothes are from this store. They are stylish enough, sophisticated, as well as casual.
I can almost always find something lovely there — and if not all I need to do is wait a week or two and something will appear.
The service is excellent and the women who work there all seem to be friends — and they seem to know half of their customers as well.
They give honest opinions and advice — never try to sell you anything just because they want to sell it.
I have never written a review of anything or any place before, but someone needed to give them 5 stars.

I’ve always liked this store and often forget about it as it’s off Solano. Seems to cater to a somewhat older crowd (that’s no insult, I’m older too!) but always fashionable, well-​priced clothes, jewelry and accessories.

This is a lovely little shop at the tippy top of Solano Ave. It’s a ‘Berkeley Lady’ shop, meaning practical with some sort of kooky frills that may or may not be made of wool/​rayon/​bamboo, but with a more quality basics and straight forward items than other shops you may find along Soloano. Think neutral color palates and good cuts. Basic tops, jeans, pants, cool purses and accessories. They usually draw me in with the sale racks out front, which are small and tastefully filled with things not TOO on sale, but still good buys for the quality.
I have a thing for socks and I always find really nice socks here. By coincidence, today I’m wearing a pair of grey and black polka dot socks that are super warm and a great blend of materials I got at Persimmon.
I might be a little on the young side for this store, but what I appreciate is all of the very quality basics and more special occasion/​career clothing lovingly put together in one store. I’ve only had positive interactions with nice sales people working there, never very aggressive, nor particularly over bearing.

This is a great little store. I always feel like I’m at the younger end of the age group shopping here (in my 30’s) but the jewllery selection is just fabulous and the prices are very reasonable. I can always find great stuff for me and gifts for friends. Almost every time I get great compliments on what I buy at Persimmon. Also they do a beautiful job gift-​wrapping their products, my present receivers are always impressed. The vibe of the people working there is helpful casual, like a nice boutique without all the high end attitude. Definitely worth a trip!

I’ve purchased many items here and have always been able to find something in my size and no, I’m not a size 2. The saleswomen always greet me and are always pleasant. Unlike Nordstrom’s, they provide help when needed. Unlike a department store, the store space is small which some may not like. However, the store is well organized and it’s pretty easy to find things. Also, it’s nice to shop in an independent store vs. a corporate department store. Lastly, they have great sales!

A small, well-​packed treasure box of separates and accessories, this place is my first stop for the perfect gift for someone who already has everything, be it Mum or that globe-​trotting business professional bud. A very nice bonus is that each garment has a thoughtful care tag, and the gift wrapping is always gorgeous.
