3 stars for their buffet, 5 stars for non-buffet and college nostalgia. First time having Indian cuisine was during college years at Naan n Curry. Amazed at the complex flavors of herbs and spices in the curry and the simplicity of the method of eating it. My favorite dish is the cheese tikka masala with rice and garlic naan. It is so simple and delicious. And the unlimited tea — I used to drink so many cups! The buffet is not as good. Many food items were not very warm and seemed as if they had sat there for awhile. It’s affordable, quick Indian food, so you have to just take it for what it is. And what it is, is delicious!

It was acceptable. We ordered the plain and garlic naan with chicken curry and chicken with lentils. They don’t provide very much meat at all. Nonetheless, the place smells like curry. It smells good in there. Our food was A-OK. Three stars. We went there for dinner on Friday night, and the buffet didn’t look so hot. Also, my naan was given to me when it was lukewarm/cold. Lame! I recommend gallivanting to Crepes A-Go-Go. They have good crêpe

This place is pretty bad for a Naan N Curry — you would think that the chain would have some sort of quality control. A buddy and I came here for lunch break last week, and it didn’t help that it was one of the coldest week in Berkeley and we were starving. After reviewing the menu, and agreeing on the 5 – 6 dishes that we wanted, we were told that there was no chicken, no tandoori and no fish — so we resorted to whatever they had available that day. Food was bland, and all around yuck. Never coming back here.

I just went there this past weekend and I have to say that on first appearances, it doesn’t impress. The place looks dark & dingy, you have to collect your own place settings and the wait staff didn’t seem to care much once you paid for your meal(which was up front). I went with a group and we ordered with a coupon. The waiter completely put in our order wrong and we had to wait a half hour for it to be corrected, our food getting cold in the meantime. We ordered lamb stir fry, prawn rice and naan but the food was not so special. I’ve had better food just up the street at House of Curries. At the end of our meal, we were still charged extra for the waiter’s mistake and on top of that, I got sick that night from it. I’m not suggesting intentional food poisoning, but I strongly feel that the dirty and unkempt atmosphere led to me getting sick. Until they clean up they’re act, I will not be visiting again.

I would have given Naan N Curry two stars last year, but it improved magically over the summer.(when I say improvement, that’s not saying its the best place ever) When I come, I get Chicken Tikka Masala and either the rice or a plain, buttered naan. The chicken used to be super dry, but they improved it and it’s a lot more moist now. The naan and rice have always been consistently tasty though! I’ve gotten the lunch buffet a few times, and it’s nice to try all of the different things. I mainly just get the tikka masala though, because I think it’s the best. The buffet is a way to get naan and rice at the same time though! Tip: #1 Use your Cal1 card for a discount! Tip #2: I love getting naan to go! They cook it really quickly and its only ~1−2 $ if you want a snack!

The price for the all you can eat is enticing but the quality of food is mehh… disappointing. Their lahsee is good but I’ve had better. Their naan seems as though they reheated it. The Rice was really dry! Everything else was filling but not noteworthy. I could have sworn the last I came to this place(2years ago) it was much better. Maybe I was just hungry :/

Not great. There are better options in Berkeley. Came for a quick dinner. Tried a lamb dish, the chicken tikka masala, and the samosas. You order at a counter and then you get your own plates and cutlery. The samosas were definitely previously frozen. The other two dishes were mediocre and did not taste particularly fresh. The server also had his fingers in the food as he brought the items to the table. Let’s just say it did not piqué my appetite. It is close to campus sure, but you can probably walk a few feet in any direction and find a better place to eat.

Indian buffet sign dawning like sweet revelation upon a purgatory of collegiate sandwiches For 8.99, the food pyramid is earnestly steaming in vats of curry beckoning perennially me into their abandon I remember not how the food tasted, knowing only the bliss of eating so much food that I was about to throw up, but in a good way, as in it’s technically free after the fourth serving

Naan N Curry? More like naan n nothing… We got dinner delivered to our house tonight from here, and these are a select few comments/thoughts on our meals: –chicken tikka masala tasted like chef boyardee spaghetti-o’s –rice seemed like it came from a Chinese take out place –naan was similar to wonder bread –boooooring –raitya was flavorless and watery –we’re all afraid of imminent food poisoning We eat Indian food regularly, and this was aaaaawful! Portions were small and unsatisfying, and no one finished their food because it was so bad. If you want good Indian take-out, go to Mehak on Dwight & Sacramento. You’ll be happy you did.

The place is aitee… me and my gf had nowhere to eat today for lunch and we were very picky. So we ended up coming here for the buffet. it seems pretty popular with all the students packing the spot at times. So its 8.99 for students, total came to $ 21 for two. The selection wasn’t much; good soft and warm naan, very good saucy chicken wings, buttery and creamy tika masala, and 5 other dishes. I only had 4 plates with 3 selections, which are the ones I specifically named. The place is janky, seemed like there was only one cook, and what was gross was that there was a sink with paper towels by the bathroom and also glass pitchers full of water in the Pepsi freezer. Originally my ratings for this place was a 3 but the thought of the nasty stuff I mentioned was gross so I just changed it to two stars. Won’t be coming here again.

What’s there to say about Naan and Curry that hasn’t already been said? Food is decent, a little pricey but it’s definitely nice and hot; if you’re craving Indian, this place will definitely set you up in a fix. Naan comes out fresh and toasty, although sometimes the service is wonky and they don’t give it to you until far too late(ie, ¾ through your curry). I’ve been here before the renovations and after, and I have to say that although it was clean after the repairs, it’s pretty clear that the people who work here aren’t good at maintaining good hygiene. This place is quickly becoming as dirty as it used to be. Though I haven’t seen any rats yet. *shudder*

Pretty cheap prices, but nothing special. I usually go for the Chicken Tikka Masala with a plain naan, and it’s super filling. The garlic naan is not that great, so I would recommend just sticking to the regular. They have lots of seating, and also free chai tea! On the downside, I end up smelling like curry afterwards…

Bland, buttered down, and not spicy. I’ve been a few times when I was an Indian food newbie. Nope never have I come back after I ventured out to the likes of Biryani House or Taste of Himalayas. Still better than House of Curries, but that’s not saying much. As most Indian places, though, they do give complimentary tea. Self serve.

|| B A C K G R O U N D || I’ve frequented Naan N Curry at least 8 times, half from MunchOnMe vouchers, and half for buffet trips. Oh buffets, what would I do without you? Well, I’d weigh 10 pounds less, probably. You walk in to a very spacious, mellow room with high ceilings and a relaxed feel. To your left diagonal is the cashier, where you pay for your food. If you’re here for the buffet($ 9 with student ID), head to the back and get grubbin’. If you’re here for individual entrees, they give you a number, and you take a seat. Water and free chai tea are in the back of the restaurant. They also have a sink outside the restroom for you to wash your hands! How nice! Food comes to you in about 6 — 8 minutes. The waiters aren’t the most excited people in the world, but it’s aite. || F O O D || CHICKENTIKKAMASALA: — Decently creamy sauce, and a fair amount of chicken. The chicken is sometimes dry. NAAN: [$ 1] — Very thick and fluffeh. Like a cloud of dough! BUFFET: [$ 9] — Things keep changing, so I’m just going to write about what I remember. They have your tandoori chicken(DRY), chicken tikka masala(STANDARD), and some veggies dishes(WHICH I DON’T EAT). There’s your stack of naan(CLOUDS), along with a yogurt dessert(THEGOODSTUFF). To your right is a mini bar of sauces and toppings. And to your left is all the cups and plates you could ever wish for. || C L O S U R E || Fairly consistent food at good prices. Also, it’s close to campus! And they have MunchOnMe deals pretty often :3 If I were to rank the Indian places I’ve eaten at, it’d go: 1) Currylicious(in Oakland) 2) Indian Flavors Express 3) Mount Everest Restaurant 4) Shalimar 5) Naan N’ Curry 6) House of Curries

Good: open till late hours. My roommate and I were hungry hippos after a trip to SF, and were delighted to see that this was ACTUALLY open till 10pm(cough cough TAKOSUSHI). Bad: not /cheap/. I’ve seen buffets with a much bigger selection for $ 7.50. Ugly: terrible selection of food. Granted we did go half an hour before closing, but we still paid the full price. There was barely anything left to eat, and they didn’t bother to refill the platters. What was worse was that what little there was left tasted bland. I’ve had better Indian food. I have to give them credit for having really good chai though. Probably won’t come back unless I’m desperate for a ton of Indian food.

Naan N Curry on Telegraph is very spacious and close to campus. I only come here when I have a deal. College life = broke life. Chicken Tikki Masala: Ehh, I’ve had better. The chunks of chicken are either a hit or miss. I hate when they’re dry :( Vegetable Tikki Masala: Ehh. There’s really nothing to say about this. It was acceptable. Garlic Naan: Wasn’t warm. Skimped on the garlic for sure. Everything was mediocre at best. My food has consistently came out lukewarm too. I don’t see myself ever coming here without a coupon. Best thing about this place is probably the free chai in the back! For good Indian food around the UC Berkeley campus, I definitely recommend Indian Flavors Express on Bancroft.

Disappointing. I used to like this place a lot when I was a post-doc at Cal. But visiting last week, I stopped in and it just… wasn’t as good. The naan lacked flavor, the textures were really off with the curries, just didn’t nail it. Bottom line: I think there are much better places to go for Indian food in the area, this place fell off…

We were about to leave Unilocal’s Sunset showdown and took a recommendation from Oakland Unilocaler Rachel, she said this place would still be open and the food is great. Specifically the chicken tikka masala, that’s basically butter chicken with white meat. American peoples version of butter chicken, which should be done with dark meat. On the drive over reviews looked iffy. Who cares, it’s in Berkeley and most likely I’ll convince my party to hit up King Pin after wards. It was a Sunday night so no late night closing, we were lucky to get in here just forty five minutes to close. Ordered three dishes and some garlic Naan. I was surprised that dudes were making the Naan fresh from scratch and you can watch as they make it. Chicken tikka masala was winner as was the paneer we received. Tandoori lamb was pretty good as well. For less than thirty bucks for the three of us, it was excellent stuff(as far as late night food goes) and the service was more than helpful. Since this entire area is an student oriented town every single last detail to the restaurant is self serve. Flatware, napkins, tea, water, it’s almost like a cafeteria where you pay and then take care of yourself. They were still running the buffet, but per reviews, unless you are a broke ass student, it should avoided and for us it was. You know what’s boring, peeps that say. I am Indian and know what real Indian food is. Dude. look at the entrée price, it’s cheaper than usual pricing. This is a «hotel», fast, cheap and decent food plain and simple. I wouldn’t use their website as a guide, it trumps up the food and place for no reason. This is not a typical fine linen five star worthy place. But it is a 4 star dive.
