I went to dr. Wolpa about 2 months ago because I was having the worst pain in my toe when I walked. Making an appointment was very easy and he got me in the same day I called. I had all most no wait when I got there and after 20 mins of conversation and x-​rays had a good understanding of my issue. The problem did require surgery and Natalie was able to get me schedualed, help with any billing issues, and walk me through any questions I had. I had a great experience and recommend him to anyone.

Very satisfied, knowledgable, would recommend to anyone.

I saw Dr. Wolpa years ago for a in-​grown toenail and actually passed out during the procedure. He and his office were fantastic, including reviving me with smelling salts and plying me with chocolate. Last year my 10 year-​old saw Dr. Wolpa for inserts and Dr. Wolpa was fantastic with both the patient and his younger brother.
His staff is pleasant, office is clean, and Dr. Wolpa is friendly and efficient.

I tried the laser pointe treatment for not a too serious toe fungus in a couple of toes-​that were obvious. I had all them done and had it done twice since there was no improvement after the first treatment. And I used the meds they suggested religiously. And I didn’t have a seriously bad case. Nice staff but gotta say the treatment was a bust-​$ 1000 for naught. If it was guaranteed I might recommend it, but otherwise not.

I bought my father the laser toenail treatment as gift for his 53^rd birthday in November of last year. I did some research and found Dr. Wolpa to be the most experienced doctor with the laser treatment and with best results. I’m so glad we went with him!
My father had fungus for many years, even more than what he can remember. I took him in for his check up recently (you have to wait 6 months to see results) and his toes are looking AMAZING! The doctor showed us the pictures he took in November and they are soooo much different now. Even my father was amazed! He said he couldn’t remember the last time he saw his toes looking clear and fungus free. I always made sure that my father applied antifungal cream daily and disinfected his shoes after each use. Dr. Wolpa mentioned that my father would have to do this everyday to be fungus free since this is a nasty infection that he can get again. I’m just thankful he didn’t infect me but I can’t say the same thing about my brother so he’s next for the treatment!
This was the best gift I could ever give my father! The look on his face is priceless every time he looks at his toes! :D

I have been a patient for over 15 years and now my son, daughter in law and entire family are satisfied patients. Dr. Wolpa is patient and painstaking especially with my old feet 75 plus. His staff is excellent if you need to get in NOW– He has made orthotics for all of us and every couple of years we get new ones. I am so satisfied with his care. He even will check the shoes I am wearing or hope to purchase.
Try him, you will love the nice feet you have.

These guys are great! Dr. Wolpa is a knowledgeable DP who also communicates well with his patients. He has been my podiatrist for 13 – 14 years and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Another DP might have tried to make some $$$ and recommend surgery for my foot problem but he took the less profitable approach of seeing if less drastic treatment including the use of custom orthotics would work and, fortunately, it did! Another DP might have been all to ready to undertake irreversible surgery. With his treatment, I was back on skis, my mountain bike and enjoying my yoga practice and dog walks again. I should add that he even went through several pairs of shoes with me making sure the new orthotics work that he just prescribed and I was fully informed of the impact of wearing different dress shoes on my feet. Nice value add!
I would be derelict if I didn’t mention how helpful his staff are as well. On their advice, we staged my recent insurance claims for new orthotics and they were successful in getting two pairs approved at great savings to me. And, not to be overlooked, they are very nice to deal with. Given the challenge of running a medical practice in these days of HMOs, PPOs, etc. etc., they still have time to listen, respond constructively and effectively advocate for me as a patient with the insurance claim.

Go to anyone else. Best to not go past door. All he is interested in is how quick and how many dollars he can collect. No stars.

I’m giving Dr. Wolpa one star for how he runs his medical practice and the lack of helpful information. Back in February 2011 I went to him for a painful big toe. He prescribed orthotics. I had two pair made, my insurance carrier paid their part and he said I owed more money. I paid him immediately. I received two pair of orthotics. His office then sent me a refund stating he had to accept payment of my HMO as payment in full because I used my HMO to coordinate my care. Fine, no problem. I deposited the refund. I used one pair of orthotics because they were a full pair and fit nicely into my tennis shoes. The second pair I’ve never worn. They were half pair, they were hard and they were made for dress shoes. What Dr. Wolpa failed to mention was what women’s dress shoes will allow for orthotics. I found out that none of them do! I’ve ordered more pairs of shoes and returned them that I can count.
But the real kicker here is that after more than two years his office billed me $ 300.00 stating that I never paid for the 2^nd pair of orthotics. I tried explaining to two billing staff that I was given a refund and was told he had to accept what my insurance paid.
What happened next was very disturbing. They decided to get into a yelling match with me, talking over me, not allowing me to ask questions or explain what happened two years ago. I was promptly told this was going to turn into a nasty legal battle; that they had a professional audit done and it was uncovered that many people weren’t billed properly. I frankly don’t believe it. And if that was true, I don’t believe this is my particular circumstance. But no one would listen.
If Dr. Wolpa has an ounce of professionalism he would get his billing office organized, figure out exactly what patients should be paying and what they don’t have to pay and then write this off. I don’t believe I owe a penny and I am going to fight this.

I went to Mark after I tore my Achilles Tendon. He was super nice and helpful and very approachable. He scheduled a surgery soon after diagnosing me and his staff are absolutely top-​notch. They are all extremely professional and organized and helpful throughout the process. He works out of the Berkeley Foot Clinic on Mon, Tue and then works out of a Walnut Creek location on Thu and Fri.

Based on recommendations and on-​line research, I had a laser treatment done for toenail fungus at Dr Wolpa’s office. The staff was very professional and courteous. Dr Wolpa explained everything including three very important points:
1. Results can vary from person to person. There is an ~ 80% improvement rate, so keep this in mind.
2. Follow the post care instructions very closely
3. It can take up to a year to really see results.
I was very impressed that they took pictures of all of my toenails before the first laser treatment. This made it easy to see which toe nails got better and which one’s needed a touch up.
During my recent follow up appointment, they noted several toe nails that needed touching up. I was never pressured to do this and I decided to have it done.
The staff member who did the treatments was very skilled and explained what they were going to do very clearly. Note that they will ask for payment before the procedure begins.
I’m picky about medical care and never once did I feel that Dr. Wolpa or any of the staff members were shady in any way. Laser toe nail treatment is not magical and requires patience and understanding of the benefits and limitations of the procedure.

I went to Dr. Wolpa for fingernail laser treatment about 1 year ago. After following his strict guidelines of how to care for the nail after treatment, the fungus has not gone away. The treatment was done in 5 nails and all of them have the fungus returning.
My thoughts on Dr. Wolpa are similar to Amy R.‘s reveiw– he does not like being questioned about the procedure and is more then willing to take your money, but not as willing to talk about why the treatment wasn’t effective. All he says is, «did you follow my instructions.» The answer was always yes and yet he could offer no explanation why it returned.
I would NOT recommend going to Dr. Wolpa for nail fungus laser treatment– not only because it is a very expensive process, but I don’t think he is the best doctor to be administering this treatment through his office if he can’t articulate why the treatment doesn’t work or offer another solution other then paying him more money to do the treatment again.
If you choose to go to Dr. Wolpa for other medical needs, just beware that he is not the most charming of personalities. I’ve seen him previously for issues with my arch and had the same feeling as I have now. He was conveniently located for me so I went back, but now after this additional bad experience, I wouldn’t see him for any reason.

I went to Dr. Wolpa for laser treatment for toe nail fungus. It cost $ 995. I had the treatment and did everything he recommended (twice daily topical treatments, regularly spraying shoes, no nail polish, filing nails, etc.). Five months later I had a follow-​up appt. and I could see there really was no improvement. Dr Wolpa said he’d do one more treatment «on me.» After that treatment he said «you don’t need to come back and see us again.» That’s what $ 995 got me. TOTAL RIP-​OFF.
I was subsequently told by my dermatologist that the laser treatment is new and unregulated so doctors can charge whatever they want. He recommended someone in Walnut Creek who charges half of what Wolpa does and free follow-​ups.

I went to Dr. Wolpa for a laser treatment of nail fungus. I found him to be very dismissive and he seemed offended at being asked questions about the procedure.
In addition, his price was VERY high and he charged for any additional treatment needed.
I found a different podiatrist who charges about ¹⁄₃ less than he does for THREE treatments.
I would never go back to Dr. Wolpa and I do not recommend him.

Go somewhere else. He’s more interested in milking you for money than treating you. Avoid at all costs.

Steer clear of this clinic. After 2 ingrown toenail procedures, lots of pain and now infection, I call back and Natalie tells me, «that happens, this is the first time anyone has ever complained about this. Ingrowns come back, its a process.» Not what the Dr said. Why would someone want to nurse ingrown toenail wounds for a year when there are things that can be done to eliminate them? Not my first go around in the procedure, just the first time I’ve run into someone who thinks its a process.

Seeing this «doctor» was a complete waste of my time and money. He barely examined my foot before suggesting I buy new shoes, take over the counter drugs (that I already told him don’t decrease my pain) and maybe go to a physical therapist. He did nothing to address my chronic foot pain issues, and he didn’t even seem interested in discussing WHY I keep injuring my foot.
Sadly, «Dr.» Wolpa seems fairly typical of supposed medical practitioners these days who are more interested in collecting fees than they are in actually treating people.

I went to Dr. Wolpa on the recommendation of a friend. I have a chronic foot condition and have seen two DPMs previously. I had hoped that Dr. Wolpa might offer a different perspective, or useful information, on this problem.
Although my impression of Dr. Wolpa is that he is an experienced and well seasoned DPM, he was very dismissive of me. I attempted to brief him on the what the other DPMs had come up with but he really didn’t seem very interested. He asked me a few questions, made a few possibly useful suggestions and neither offered a diagnosis or a course of action for the problem that I presented him with. For this, he took just over 10 minutes and charged me $ 150 since my insurance did not cover it.
I left the office really not knowing if I had gained any knowledge to help my condition and felt basically ripped off. I don’t doubt that Dr. Wolpa is a competent professional in many aspects of his work but, he certainly did not feel like one with me. The appointment was rushed, it was difficult to tell how interested he actually was in the issue I was bringing to him and, the cost was beyond reason. The other DPMs I saw both spent close to 45 minutes with me and were extremely thorough at much less expense.

My son was referred to Dr. Mark Wolpa from East Bay Pediatrics for a rather nasty ingrown toe nail. Making the appointment was easy and the actual appointment wait times were minimal. Dr. Wolpa had a very good bedside manner with my son who overreacts to even the threat of pain. The procedure was relatively quick, efficient, and effective.
