Great customer service, they remember you and give out free different soups(savory, sweet) if you are there on the right day. I have had egg flower soup and even some vietnamese version of clam chowder on one occasion I think. They have a good variety of choices including catfish and chicken, but if you are having a time crunch or are on a budget, a pork sandwich for $ 4 is a great deal! Good food for a chilly day too, as any items you order come on nice and hot!

Tried here several times. My favorite are chicken rice soup and Banana coconut ‘pudding’! For food: 3⁄5 Rice plates here are all bit oily. Mango rices do not taste much different than the other rice. Shrimp spring rolls are fresh but not really flavorful. They are packed with large portion of white noodles and two shrimps. recommend chicken rice soup! For service: 4⁄5 the owner always offers free soup or dessert, which are all really good! However, the cashier is not really efficient. And recently the card machine is broken so they only accepts cash. For location: 4⁄5 close to the campus. Plenty of place to seat and have lunch.

The food is SOOOO good! All the staff are really nice but the lady Ann is hilarious and if you frequent the place enough she will give you free soup and remember you! Definitely recommend the Thai barbecue tofu with rice. The coconut rice is delicious too. You definitely shouldn’t miss this place!

Heavenly is not the best quality but it’s cheap and the portion sizes are great. There’s a variety of stir fry, vietnamese sandwiches, and spring rolls. The stir fry comes with rice and salad. It’s 50 cents more to upgrade to coconut mango rice. Also, you get free soup or dessert if Anna, the owner, is there. «Honey, you want free soup?»

The lady is always giving out free soup, super enthusiastic and nice. The food is bomb and cheap.

Service was great, food tastes good. But the sanity is perturbing. There is an ungodly number of flies and mosquitoes that I’m not even are sure are indigenous to California. When i got home, 3 mosquitoes flew out of my to-go bag and another 2 – 3 were hanging to my clothes. I was wearing a clean set of clothes and had just showered so there was no reason I should’ve attracted as many flies and mosquitoes as this besides the fact that they were just used to sticking around the food that Heavenly makes. I also saw a lot of flies go in an out of open food containers that were later used to make food. I’m not one to give bad reviews especially to places with such great service and food, but the hygiene levels were unbearable and I’m still cringing and looking all over myself for more unwanted bugs.

Well, this is my first time to write a review in Unilocal.I always wanted to try Heavenly as my brother’s recommendation. Thus, here I go; trying a food truck menu. I picked the«today’s special» menu that comes out with a catfish and white rice, also green salad(is there any salad in another color?), and a thai lemon tea. All of it is only $ 7.95+tax. When the food came out, I was so happy because the fish is big . However, once I tried the rice… It was hard to chew. I was disappointed because one of my purposes to try the food was I do not have rice at home. I was hoping to get a good rice, yet it was old rice. Anyway, it should be better next time. I am sure Heavenly will give the best for their customers :)

I never really bothered to try the food trucks on Bancroft and college but I’ve always seen quite a few people lining up in front of this place. At the beginning of the semester, my friend wanted to get lunch somewhere close to campus so we decided on this place. I got the Thai crispy chicken bowl and it was alright. They were generous with both the chicken and vegetables. However, the chicken was on the drier side and the seasoning wasn’t anything special. It honestly just tasted kind of like cheap Chinese take out. I can see why college students would come here though; it’s right next to campus and cheap for the price. My rice bowl was pretty big and only $ 7. Though the food was alright, I must say that the owners of the truck are extremely friendly people. My friends have said that the spring rolls here are pretty good so maybe I’ll come back and try that net time.

Really really delicious rice plates and noodles and their fresh rolls are on point! All for a pretty cheap price too! Highly recommend the fresh rolls, any of the chicken rice plates(crispy chicken, BBQ chicken etc)…you really can’t go wrong with Heavenly!

I saw this food truck by chance after class ended and I was pretty hungry. I saw that there was a lot of options to choose from and some of them were really cheap. I decided to get the Vietnamese kungpai spicy shrimp which was a poor choice on my part. It tasted delicious, but there were only like 6 pieces of shrimp and the rice was kind of crunchy and hard. It was overflooded with vegetables. This was just one food item and I think I just chose something that wasn’t good.

4.5 stars– I’ll be frank, I nearly cried eating my huge crispy chicken rice bowl(6.95 i think). I’ve been in Berkeley for nearly 3 months now, and like any newcomer, I’ve been chasing around food places to try every day. But today, this is the first time in Berkeley I’ve had a meal I’ve really really enjoyed. Yes, the meat is a little dry, and the rice is overcooked, but something about the food and the way the owner calls you«honey» really reminds you of something mom made for you back home. It might not be authentic Vietnamese food, but it’s authentic comfort food. –0.5 stars because the cup my free tea came it had dark grit lodged in the cracks at the bottom, but hey, it’s free tea :) Overall, great quality and portions for the price.

Heavenly is one of the better food trucks in Berkeley. They have a good selection of «Vietnamese» dishes and pre-made sandwiches. The food is quite fresh here and the staff are nice and welcoming. I’ve tried the crispy chicken sandwich, the fish sandwich(each were $ 5) and the chicken kabob plate(one skewer of chicken with rice and salad), and they were not bad at all. Plus they have this deal if you buy two sandwiches and pay cash, you get $ 1 discount(instead of $ 10 you pay $ 9.) The service is a bit slow here. During lunch hours, the line can get quite long here, and foods like the kabob since they need to be grilled, might take quite long to get prepared so watch out for that if you are in a hurry. As far as the taste goes, the food here tastes good, but nothing memorable. However, their generous portions and their fair prices make up for it.

Heavenly has lots of food choices. food cooked to order, it’s claimed. eats: garlic noodle(4.95) +tax –thick orange noodles tasteless, topped with fresh cucumber, lettuce, celery –no garlic taste at all –finally tasted white pepper and sodium, lots of it. got note from owner: they ran out of garlic. huh? take the item off the menu! take outs: –no receipts given. total verbally given –either english skills inadequate or i was deliberately shortchanged a nickel. nickels unimportant. lack of transparency evident in food too. try it, u’ll regret it. *note-was served garlic noodle even when they ran out of garlic. huh?

If there are 5 things I like in the world, Heavenly Food Truck might be one of them. They’ve really figured out how to make delicious food with great flavor. And yes, they may be fusion, but you won’t be disappointed with what you get. Heavenly Foods might actually be the best place to get cheap food in Berkeley(better than anything in Asian Ghetto). $ 5-$ 7 will get you a very filling meal. They have a wide selection of unique offerings, the quality is consistent, and they’re convenient. Customer service is top notch. Also, they use compostable food containers(though utensils are still plastic), so kudos to them. We need more food trucks like this: real, good food with solid service Good food, good service = happiness Flashy vinyl wraps with gentrified names ≠ happiness

The owner was kind enough to contact me immediately after she read my review. Per her request, I met up with her in person this afternoon. She apologized and gave me a refund for my meal. I showed her the metal piece that was found in my meal, and she agreed that it was definitely a sharp piece of metal that might have broken off from a machine or some type of a grinder. She had no idea where it came from and was very concerned. Regardless, she assured me that their food preparation process is safe and that this would never happen again. I know for a fact that they have great customer service, but for my own and for my baby’s safety, I don’t think I would eat here again.

A solid food truck option with pretty good food, great value, and meh service. The best part is probably the size of the platter for the price. I got the teriyaki chicken for about $ 7, and they give you a lot of vegetables and a decent amount of really small pieces of chicken. On the tastier side for a food truck, but nothing that blew my mind. On top of the considerable line, the food preparation was slower than I imagined. Somehow they have a few people working inside the truck, and I still have to wait ten minutes and add my own condiments at the end. Don’t run off and forget your utensils and napkins!

As far as food trucks go, Heavenly is right up there with the greats. Not only is the food hot and fresh, it’s also tasty and affordable(everything is less than $ 10). Whenever I’m craving some tasty Vietnamese cuisine or have a hankering for mango spam musubi, I head out to the edge of Bancroft near Boalt Law School and get in line. Yes, there will be a line, especially if you go at lunch! Heavenly is a hoppin’ spot among the Cal kids. Anna, the sweet cashier lady who is known for calling all her customers«honey,» will keep you coming back for more with generous offerings of free treats or soup as you wait for your meal to be cooked. My favorite meals from Heavenly are the garlic noodles with chicken kebabs or fried tofu and veggies over rice. While the dishes can be a bit oily, they always come with some cabbage greens so you don’t feel quite so unhealthy: p. When I’m less hungry, I gravitate toward the tapioca drinks and spam musubi. I think the regular spam musubi tastes better than the mango, but it’s definitely worth it to try the mango flavored rice! Both musubi are really large and delicious. Heavenly Vietnamese Fusion is an excellent lunch option, or even early dinner option, for students on campus. And… if you go a little before they close up the truck, everything is half off! Yup, get your spam musubis right before closing time! =D

Huge selection of dishes ranging from Vietnamese to Thai to somewhat Chinese. I had the teriyaki chicken bowl, which was a lot of food for $ 5.95(plus tax is $ 6.65). There’s a $ 5 min for credit card, but most people easily go over this ;) The teriyaki chicken bowl comes with a small side salad and free(optional) soup. The chicken itself was stir-fried with celery, carrots, onions, and garlic. Beware of some garlic breath after eating this dish! There’s plenty of seating on the steps of the law school, and it’s great sitting on the lawn to eat too. I also hear the vietnamese iced coffee is the bomb dot com. They also had a thai iced tea and juices with basil seed. Next time also gotta try the spam musubi and the banh mi! Glad to have such an affordable and yummy food truck so close to campus! Don’t be intimidated by the line, it moves fast.

Is it heavenly? Not per se, but certainly so in comparison to the frozen premade fast food, soggy rice bowls, and expiring overpriced snacks of GBC. The location is perfect, as long as you can survive the barrage of fliers on Sproul. I love the great variety of real food on the menu that can save you from a ghetto Sheng Kee pastry lunch. Everything is reasonably priced, especially when you take into the account the convenience. All the rice bowls are tasty, though portion sizes don’t last you beyond a meal. Don’t expect the bahn mi to be as good as the ones that people randomly bring back from hole-in-the-walls in Oakland. They are good grab-and-go items, but the bread can be a bit soggy and it runs skimpy on meat. I would not recommend the drinks; the Thai iced tea is probably the cheapest among all the boba joints around campus(yes, all gazillion of them) but was weak, tasted watered down, and predominantly crushed ice. Seriously, I was dumbfounded at how quickly all the tea disappeared and found myself holding a cup full of ice. Service is stellar; the owner is an adorable motherly lady that automatically gives you the impression that all the food is homemade and authentic. Heavenly reminds me of the original food trucks – before highly embellished gourmet food trucks of Off the Grid came along – as a mobile kitchen serving lunch to busy people on the go, like the lemonade stands of the adult world. And certainly, Heavenly has the personal touch and passion of lemonade stands.
