As an athlete, I’ve seen Dr. Cummins dozens of times in the past couple of years. He’s treated me for knee injuries, a back injury, a neck injury, shin splints – and he’s been fantastic every single time. He’s always on time, he gets me in on short notice, and he spends a ton of time with me during every visit. Unlike most doctors these days, he never rushes me, he answers all of my many questions, and he’s always gotten me on the road to recovery. My sense is that he’s best with very active people, but I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

I don’t want to have knee replacement surgery. The original knee surgery didn’t go all that well – I’m still in pain three years later – so I’m looking for alternatives to surgery. Dr. Cummins was a referral from my primary care physician who pulled Dr. Cummins name out of her list of «Surgeons who don’t cut. Surgeons who try other methods.» According to his staff, Dr. Cummins does not perform surgery. Last year, I was seen for approx. 5 minutes by Dr. Cummins. I use the word«seen» extremely loosely. Dr. Cummins never looked at my knee or my xrays. He never sat down – he spoke to me while leaning against the door. He said«I see thousands of patients like you. You need surgery! Nothing else will work.» He was willing give his opinion(negative) of an alternative method I asked him about, but it became apparent he had no idea what it was, even in a general sense, even whether or not it was invasive. In my opinion he is arrogant and stupid, possibly worse. Dr. Cummins practices with Berkeley Orthopaedic Medical Group Inc. I would consider Dr. Cummins an excellent shill for traditional orthopaedic surgeons in this practice.
