This is one of my favorite libraries to study on campus for multiple reasons: 1) The tables all have outlets connected to them enough to serve everyone who sits, it’s it’s never a competition for who gets the outlet, unlike moffit… 2) Lighting here is FAB, need I say more? 3) There is plenty of seating to go around and it’s always nice and quiet but not deathly silent 4) It’s close to my house(but that’s a plus for me) 5) Printers and computers are always available 6) Ramona’s café is right downstairs if I ever need to get a snack

Welcome to one of the most comprehensive design libraries in the country! This library is a great resource for people writing a research paper, looking for some design inspiration, or just studying in general. The librarians are always helpful when it comes to research and design topics, so do not be afraid to ask! The whole library is very well-lit, naturally or otherwise and quiet but not scarily quiet. There are always people studying or reading in there, and so it is never too lonely. I like to think of the library as divided into four different areas: The first is the individual/double tales to the right as you walk in from the entrance. This is probably the warmest and best-lit area from the afternoon to the evening. I like studying here, because the dividing pillars give me lots of privacy. The only drawbacks are the lack of outlets, the limited seating, and the distraction of people walking by the window. Otherwise, great spot to study or nap in peace! The second area is the middle space with all the tables and chairs arranged in four. During finals/midterm season, the place is packed with people and their laptops. There are plenty of outlets to go around, and it is generally a lot quieter than the other libraries. As it is in the middle with little dividers, it can be a bit distracting. The third area is the other table area to the far left, past the glass cabinets. I have never studied in that area, but it generally seems easier to work there, because it isn’t in the middle of the library. As for my favourite, it would be the recliners in the back, left-hand corner of the library! The area is generally for reading magazines but has become more of a napping spot. It is very easy to pull up two chairs, face them across each other, and just settle down for an hour or two. The librarians have never bothered me about it. If you want to also count the couches and benches right outside of the library, those can be pretty good spots to read or to nap, but there tends to be quite a lot of traffic. Another thing I appreciate about the library is the free books outside! The library is constantly throwing away some of its old books and leaves them on a cart outside. I have found some awesome magazines, books, and book covers that I have reused and turned into notebooks. It is definitely worth a checking out. You never know what gems you might find.

A true architecture library! I’m not an Architecture major, but I do work at Wurster. and I gotta say, I love studying in the library after I get off work. There are several displays in the center of the library which are very intriguing. There are also authentic chairs designed by some. famous designer(I wish I knew who, sorry!) that aren’t just there for display! The windows stretch from floor to ceiling, allowing lots of natural light to shine, which I love!(The Ed-Psych Library in Tolman also offers lots of natural sunlight.) There are also outlets at the end of every table which is very convenient. Overall, I have to say that this is one of my top 5 favorite libraries on campus.

I never knew this library existed until my 4th year at Berkeley. Now it’s one of my favorites! The CED library is tucked away on the second floor of Wurster Hall(turn right after you get up the stairs). The library is clean, quiet, well-lit, and not too big, so no need to worry about getting lost(unlike the Main Stacks dungeon in Moffitt). Lots of big tables around if you wanna spread out all your junk or study with a group of friends. There are also clusters of lounge chairs available if you want to curl up with a fat textbook, which ups the cozy factor. Similar to the interior of Wurster Hall, the library has an industrial chic kind of vibe, which I like. I never have trouble finding a seat, and being the picky little student that I am, I always go for the seats near the end of the tables so I can snag an outlet for my laptop, if needed. I hibernated in Doe and Moffit for years until I stumbled across this place. Definitely a great study spot to check out!
