I happened across this great little find while on a walk through Emeryville and South Berkeley. I discovered the shop, not by what was inside, but what came out. A few attractive young persons were filtering out, while a child played in the establishment’s attached garage. Both facilitated my way into a delightfully overstuffed shop. The Shop Owner became an easy friend. The Shop Owner was busily attending to the questions of a man; this man wanted a hands-on with a too inconveniently placed item. I looked around. Wow, I saw a nice set of leather covered table lamps. Then, I smiled. It could not be. There, in a low light clutter of things, was a Matisse. No way. «It is one of my pieces… and, It is the same as size as the original.» My reply, «Well Matisse painted his masterpiece in Morocco. Did you paint yours there?» We both laughed.(In honesty, her interpretation had its own muse.) All new personal encounters should be so pleasant. Eclectic finds, nice /negotiable prices, and an old school San Franciscan turned East Bay business owner will patently greet you upon arrival. IM
