Since it was our 37th anniversary we were happy to be snowed in. Our waitress, Chrissalee, was amazing. She was attentive, efficient, fun, and made our evening special. I had the steak and crab cakes. The steak was done to perfection and the crabcake was absolutely the best I’ve ever had.

Dinner on Sunday. Salad bar closed. Roast beef sandwich served on white sandwich bread, not sourdough per the menu. Wax & green beans with carrots overcooked. Liver a little overdone. Service was good.

This is a nice place to visit for a couple of nights. The park is ideal for families with children. The prices are reasonable and there are lots for families to do who like to be outdoors. There are different cabins to choose from, modern to rustic, or you can stay in one of the 49 rooms in the lodge. We stayed in the lodge. The first night was in Room 49 on the ground floor over looking the car park. The room is very, very small with a double bed you can only enter from one side as it is against the wall. I think it was there version of an ADA room as there were grab bars in the bath tub and an easy to open door handle, however the hook on the bath tub was too high and would be out of reach for a person in a wheelchair. The whole room was really too small for a wheelchair. There was a small flat screen TV, a small table and two chairs that served no purpose The second night we were in Room 12 on the second floor over looking the golf course. This was small too but a lot better than Room 49. It had a double and a single bed. The flat screen TV was a reasonable size, a small table and two chairs that served no purpose. All the rooms and the lodge in general is quite Spartan. In the lodge lounge there were some comfortable chairs and leather sofa. On the table there were different games and jigsaw puzzles. The free morning coffee in the lounge was surprisingly good. The dining room had sufficient friendly staff. The price for the dinner buffet was reasonable, the food was OK. The roasted potato were just sitting in grease, there was no need for this. I liked the stuffed chicken. We had a movie to go to so was upset on a Saturday night at 7:30 pm all the wait staff disappeared for 5 minutes while the restaurant manager held a meeting in the restaurant and was handing out envelopes to wait and kitchen staff, and thanking them for something. Surely this could have been done before or after service, not during. The breakfast buffet was standard fare but alas no sausage gravy for the biscuits, and no grits. Again the potatoes were sitting in grease. All the staff in housekeeping, restaurant and front desk were very friendly, cheerful and helpful. Cacapon Lodge has tremendous potential but it needs some basic upgrades. Two pillows per person, not one. Get rid of the dreadful bed covers that are not washed after every guest stay. Put some local art or photographs of beautiful West Virginia on the bare wood walls. Replace the tired and dirty looking carpet in rooms and hallway with real wood or even wood laminate floor. Make room 49 a single room and charge a single rate. I look forward to visiting again, but next time in a cabin.

Went here for a «daycation» with my significant other the other day. The water was a bit cold but the atmosphere was perfect. This is a great place to relax under an umbrella, take a dip in the water, practice diving into the deep section of the water, or to build a sand castle. The price was right($ 3) and there were plenty of lifeguards on duty. This is also a great place for families.

The service was poor with what we call«drive bys» where the waitress would grab our glasses to refill our drinks while walking by without addressing us. Watched a supervised child use her hands to get lettuce at the salad bar. Buffet was mediocre. Will not be back.

Artists retreat. Nine painters in two well appointed cabins for a few days had all the inspiring scenery and convenience we had hoped for. Stopped in the excellent Nature Center and were given photo opportunities. Hiked the ridge to get mountain view. We had breakfasts and lunches at the cabins and enjoyed dining at Taris in town and at the park lodge. There is no end to the picturesque spots we could find to set up for plein air practice.

This is a really beautiful park in the Berkeley Springs area, just a short drive from downtown Berkeley Springs. I haven’t stayed in their cabins(yet) but it’s on my bucket list which means I’ll be updating my review at some point. When I drove through the park, I stopped by the main house and the staff were very friendly and answered all my questions. Their cabin prices seem pretty reasonable and I love the fact that there’s so much to do in this park. Also, downtown Berkeley Springs is just so charming and it’s around the corner.

I came here for a convention and the park was really nice. The rooms are in need are major updating. It’s very 1982 décor in the rooms. But it was a clean room and bed was comfortable. The wi-fi kinda sucked. Barley get any reception and then sometimes it was not working at all. The Restaurant had some pretty good food. The wait staff is friendly. The resort is building an expansion and from the pictures it looks really nice and swanky. A big plus to this state park is that you do not have to pay a fee to enter. I’ve been to some parks and you have to pay to get in.

I’ve been here a bunch of times, mostly to fish, a couple of times to hike. There is a lot to do here, and it’s such a nice park. There is a golf course, swimming beach(seasonal), two lakes, horseback riding, shooting range, playgrounds, picnic areas and tons of hiking. You can even get a fishing license at the resort. Make sure you get a trout stamp if you’re going to fish in the lower lake. Get a map and a compass if you’re going for a hike, and bring some water. There is always something to do there.

This review is based on the swimming area at Cacapon Park. This is a really nice and clean lake to enjoy a swim. Some points… 1. The admission was $ 3.00 for adults and $ 2.00 for children. 2. Coolers are allowed, but no alcohol or bottles. 3. Lifeguards are on duty. 4. Showers and changing areas are available. 5. Hours are 10AM to 6PM. 6. Beach snack bar provides sandwiches, pizza, ice-cream and beverages. 7. Paddle Boats are available for rental.

Stayed here for a couple of nights and really enjoyed it. The lodge is very simple and hasn’t been updated for a while. But the rooms and sheets are clean and comfortable. They do have newish flat panel tvs but lack HD. The bathrooms were again clean but needed an upgrade. The grounds were a nice getaway from everything. Stayed here midweek and all was quiet except for the beach on the lake. Although we didn’t have time, we heard the hiking trails were nice. The golf course is the main reason for this review. It was excellent. Well maintained, had a great variety of holes. It’s also cheap! Midweek it was $ 30 for 18 holes without a cart(and it’s very walkable). Small greens which made it tough to score well since you rarely have a flat lie out there. I could see myself playing this course for a whole week and not get bored. The service out there was also second to none. It’s like they took all the friendliest staffers I have come across, made them redo courtesy training, then put them out there. I received fresh, icy cold water from a gentleman on a golf cart. I was also given a ride from the 18th green all the way to my car on a hot afternoon. I tried tipping both of them but they refused. One even said, «Being outside is tip enough for me.» He then drove off with a smile. How great is that! Only 1.5 hours away from DC, so hopefully I’ll be back soon.
