Book stores usually make me sad. Not because I don’t like them, but because I do, and when I’m in one, I always get an ominous feeling that it’s about to go out of business any second. Not so at Berkeley Springs Books. It’s the opposite here. There is pure magic in the air. I never leave with empty hands, no, I leave with an empty wallet. Berkeley Springs Books is the best blend of new and used books, gifts, antiques and other curiosities that makes it warm, interesting and ever changing. I’m never bored with the selection. I love finding the odd cookbook here, everything from local WV recipes to James Beard Award winning tomes, such as the«The Border Cookbook: Authentic Home Cooking of the American Southwest and Northern Mexico.» My finds here always transport me to new places and spark new imaginings and open up a world of possibilities. Everything is so well curated, every single item in the shop seems to be lovingly hand picked and purposefully placed, waiting for you to discover it, to take it home, gift it, share it and brighten the world. Berkeley Spring Books is a treasure. A few of my favorite things at BSB: Edward Gorey illustrated books Saturn Press cards A wonderful selection of one-of-a-kind children’s books *On a lucky day, the owners will bring in their friendly dog. :) He stays behind the cash register and hangs out, but adds so much to the environment.
