McDonald’s

Amazing visit– this restaurant was clean, staffed and friendly — best fries I’ve ever eaten– it was a pleasant surprise after a long trip up north.

The WORST experience ever! Workers were rude and unprofessional. The acting manager treated her workers like dirt, not to mention was literally throwing orders on the counter and the poor girl up front taking orders I felt terrible for. She was doing her best but with such limited support she looked like she was on the cusp of quitting or tears. It took 30 minutes to get our order and it was wrong the food was terrible and the wait was ridiculous. This was a white trash, obnoxious, disrespectful, unorganized, chaotic, worst McDonalds I’ve ever seen. They need training in how to handle customers, how to be appropriate, and every other training possible cause this location sucks! People actually got fed up and even left without their whole order due to the terrible service.

I have nothing against McDonalds. But this location has problems.
Food is OK, typical McDonalds. Coffee not so good — tasted soapy. McDonalds coffee is normally ok.
Bathroom was a disaster area — toilet only works if you «jiggle the handle back & forth» (I know so because the tacky sign taped over the toilet says so). The toilet eventually flushes. Only one of the urinals works — the other one is taped over with a plastic bag. No plumbers in Benzie County I guess.
The power receptacles in the dining area do not work. Come one — don’t abuse honest customers by turning them off! If you don’t want half day loungers then have the guts to approach those «customers» to request they buy or leave. Or put signs up.
The Internet speed matched the bathroom quality. The place was not busy and
could not even muster 1 MB.
Sad since this is the only McDonalds within 30 miles. (perhaps that is the problem, not enough competition)
Note to McDonalds Area Rep: this location appears to be nursing at the franchise’s teat and looking for corrective action…
… I kid you not, as we walked out the door my son saw a rodent — he thought it was a mouse or rat — scurry across the doorway!

Let’s start out by noting that this is just a McDonald’s, like any other McDonald’s out there. Friendly staff, standard food, clean bathrooms.
So why bother reviewing it? If you happen to actually LIKE McDonald’s, this is the only fast food restaurant at all between Manistee and Traverse City, so get it while you can.
Me? I’d keep driving until I got to Empire (the Friendly Tavern) or Glen Arbor (Art’s) to grab a burger, but if you are in the area and dying for an Egg McMuffin, this is, literally, it.
