Super love Double Rainbow. So friendly with lots of food and drink options. Icecream and I recently tried the shaved ice. Super yum

Much cleaner and cozier than Baskin Robbins. Yes, they have less flavors to choose from but they also have food items such as salads, sandwiches and hot dogs. They also have a variety of cake slices, brownies, lemon bars etc. My favorite is a slice of carrot cake with their snickerdoodle coffee.

Good place for ice cream and cakes. Sometimes it gets super crowded since it’s the only ice cream place in 1st st. However, the ice cream is good quality. There cakes are very good as well.

A typical ice cream shop that serves ice cream of ordinary flavors. While they have many different flavors and snow cones, I was not necessarily wowed by the flavors compared to other ice cream shops I have been to. The flavors are very typical that can be found anywhere so I was hoping to find a place with more distinct and unique flavors. But if you’re looking for decent ice cream in general with ordinary flavors such as vanilla or chocolate, then it definitely does the job of satisfying that. Parking is readily available and is a nice area to walk around while eating your ice cream

My family and I went there just to try something different. We usually go to Baskin Robbins up the street, but decided to do Double Rainbow. Arriving there about 30 minutes prior to their closing, they were in clean and mop mode. Which made us think that they were closing and we asked if they were still open, the owner said yes. My wife ordered a Banana Sundae and he put it in a plastic cup and said I have to make this to-go. We said that we didn’t want it to-go, and wanted to eat there. He insisted that we take this in a cup and stay and eat. This made us feel very uncomfortable. I truly think that they didn’t want to wash any more dishes so they put everything to go. Now this makes the Banana Sundae not enjoyable since its in a cup, you have now layers of everything. Ice cream on the bottom, hot fudge somewhere in the middle and topped off with a banana. So essentially you ate the banana first. You could not eat a little ice cream, then banana, or both. And the spoon he gave us was not large enough even to mix everything together. Essentially it was a milkshake to-go cup. Since they were in clean and mop mode the other customers felt uncomfortable and decided to leave. No positive vibes there whatsoever. The owner was pleading with the people to stay, but you can see that they had enough. If you are to go in clean up mode on the floor with customers still dining this is not a good feeling for the customers. I can see behind the counter if you want to clean up and prep for closing, sure I get that. Then the owner comes to us and starts talking about how much things cost to run the business. His rent is $ 3100 a month, his PG&E is $ 2000. The summer time he makes $ 1000 a day and in the winter he makes $ 100 a day. He also stated that you should not own a business and work for someone with steady pay. And that he works 13 hours a day. Has not had a vacation in 5 years… blah blah blah… Now, we wanted to leave because all we wanted was some ice cream. He said«next time you come in, I will give you a big Sundae» Trust me, that is not gonna happen since my family nor me will ever come here again.

Service is not friendly at all and yes that really matters, even at an ice cream shop. They only serve shaved ice until a certain time of the day and them apparently it becomes illegal/unsafe/inconvenient/too painful to operate their ice sluffing machine and dump some syrup on it? The flavors are ok, nothing special, the baked goods are absolutely stale, and I wouldn’t risk my life trying any of their other foods. Their freezers need defrosting, its dingy and cluttered with tasteless«art». There’s an overwhelming feeling of not only uncaring but«your presence here is ruining my day» from both of the owner/operators(who by the way run/own several other businesses along first st… hmmmm) that I’d really rather keep money in my own pocket. Go to Rite Aid or Roseannas Bakery if you’re looking for a worthy sweet treat.

We went in there to get some ice cream and all we got was bad service. We didn’t get pass tasting the ice cream. I threw my plastic tasting spoon away in the trash not knowing there wasn’t a trash bag in it because it was a trash can with a lid and I got yelled at by the guy who I’m pretty sure is the owner. The lady that was helping us in assuming was the owner as well because she was completely rude with an angry demeanor from the moment we walked in. Not to mention the ice cream tastes like shit anyway. Definitely telling everyone I know not to come to this place especially when there is a bask in robins up the street. Word of advice don’t even give this place a shot.

Great grilled sandwiches, especially the Californian with avocado, cheese, and tomato. Lots of great ice cream and baked goods. Wonderful mountainous Hawaiian shave ice. Lots of fun amateur art for sale in the walls. Great place to take the kids!

Nice little dessert place. Had all types of desserts here from shaved ice, cheesecake and ice cream. We have the shaved ice kids size, and it was a pretty big size for kids. We had the pins colada and the Tigers blood. 2 good flavors. And my girlfriend had the caramel fudge cheesecake and she demolished it. Customer service was good and would definitely come here again

The only good things about this shop are its location and fairly nice décor inside. The ice cream is just okay. They never really have any new flavors and the same old flavors that they do have are pretty standard that you could get anywhere else(and it would probably be better elsewhere too). I’m not trippen about the staff but it’s true that they’re not all that friendly and rarely smile. Last time I was here, I was eating my ice cream at one of the tables and pulled out a napkin from one of the table napkin holders. On the other side of the napkin was a stain and a lipstick lips mark. Gross. Clearly they take slightly used napkins and put them BACK in the holder. If you’re looking for an ice cream place and are already in the Benicia first street area, then this place will work. But it’s not worth going out of your way for.

First impressions are very important. When I went inside, I said hello and asked them what’s their most popular ice cream? The owner recommends the flavor but says«We don’t taste test ice cream right now because it’s busy, but okay I’ll let you taste test this time.» What kind of ice cream parlor says that!!! I don’t care how busy you are, customer service comes first, ESPECIALLYFORPEOPLEWHOSERVEICECREAM! People are always watching, Unilocalers are always watching, and first impressions are lasting impressions. I ended up buying nothing and let my sisters and parents buy something. No way I would come here again. That comment was a big red flag. Premier ice cream spots like Michell’s in San Francisco always has a long line, but once its my turn, they make sure I am their #1 priority. They let met taste test, and they are very friendly. Them saying that it’s too busy to taste test made me feel like I was not a priority. Long story short, WORSTICECREAMEXPERIENCEEVER.

Came here after dinner and the man(assuming owner/manager) was super friendly I loved it! He was extremely nice. I got the banana sundae with rocky road and mint chip and shared it with my boyfriend it was very good! I would definitely come back when I’m in the area wanting some ice cream! :)

If your in Benicia, craving dessert come to this place! They have an indoor and an outdoor seating, so on a nice beautiful day sit outside and people watch. I came here for the snow cone, and it was huge! I got the medium size and my parents and I couldn’t even finish it! You could pick any flavor you liked for your snow cone but what made this snow cone better than anywhere else was that they added condensed milk! OMG, it was so delicious but very sweet! So good thing, I got a sweet tooth!

The ice cream was ok, but I am giving a 1 star because of the staff and service. I went to this ice cream store with my girlfriend after we went to buy subway sandwiches. We bought ice cream and sat down at the table. I did not want to eat my ice cream yet and started to open my subway sandwich. The worker, who i think might be the owner or manager, he was a white guy with glasses, went up to me and said you can’t eat outside food here and told us to eat outside. I said fine, thinking it was because of the smell of the sandwiches, which he did not want in his store. So we went outside and sat in a table. I then continued to open my subway sandwich and this person actually went outside and said I couldn’t even eat there as the tables belonged to them and was only meant for customers eating their product. Which is dumb because I was a paying customer who already paid for their ice cream and their was no one at the store, meaning it wasn’t packed at all. At this point, we just left, either that guy is racist or had a stick in his a**. But I would NEVEREVER go back there.

This is the go-to spot for my boyfriend and I whenever our sweet tooth is aching. They have a variety of ice cream flavors, pastries, and they even offer savory foods like sandwiches. But we mainly go there for their specialty sundaes. The price is decent for the amount of ice cream and toppings put into their sundaes. If you’re a chocolate fan, I highly recommend getting the chocolate challenge: two flavors of ice cream(your choice) with a brownie, hot fudge all over, and whipped cream and a cherry on top. So delish! I would give it 5 stars, but I recently ordered a strawberry milkshake and was a little disappointed with it. It wasn’t thick enough. It felt like I was just drinking strawberry milk. The flavor was good, just not the consistency. Next time I go back, I’ll just stick to my sundaes.

It’s kind of the only ice cream action in this part of town(at least as far as I saw) but it satisfied our sweet tooth, after a day of my boyfriend and I wandering around Benicia. I opted for a small cup of the cookie dough. Portions were generous and I must have lucked out because i had plenty of cookie dough bites. The texture itself of the ice cream was a bit too«creamy» for me, if that even makes sense. It just seemed ultra, ultra rich-I had a hard time really eating it all(that’s a good thing I suppose, right?) My boyfriend opted for a 2 scoop sundae-the scoops were pretty generous as was the hot fudge, nuts and whipped cream. Overall, though, it seemed pretty pricey for an afternoon ice cream excursion-$ 15 for two people-yikes! I guess it’s not an every day thing, but still… On the positive side the interior was spacious and clean. Not crowded either on a cloudy cold day, so we sort of had the place all to ourselves. Not the best quality or value I’ve had but if we weren’t going to drive anywhere else. Double Rainbow served it’s purpose for an afternoon sweet tooth attack.

Uh, I barely rate anything 1 star, but this is definitely a worthy exception. First off, the ice cream is, honestly, horrible. I ordered the cookie dough, and I had a whopping 1 piece of cookie dough. Also, the workers are extremely unfitting of those I would expect to work in an ice cream store. They had green tea flavor, and I was excited as I grew up on it and am a huge fan, and as soon as I mentioned interest, the woman behind the counter scoffed and mentioned that green tea flavored ice cream is «the worst flavor of ice cream there is» and that it «tastes like the ocean» and that«no one ever eats that flavor». When I was discouraged by her attitude and unfriendliness, I decided on the cookie dough, and she ended up throwing some green tea on top as well, which was weird. Bad experience overall.

We stopped into Double Rainbow on a Friday night around 8:30 for dessert after grabbing dinner at Venticello’s just a short walk down the street. Walking in, you are greeted with warm bright colors everywhere, and of course the welcoming smell of treats! A quick look around and a perusal of the menu show that this place is a wonderful throwback to a 50s style dinner, and the charm of that is intoxicating. The older gentleman behind the counter was full of personality, and told us their cheesecake was mindboggling, and that he would put their cheesecake up against that one particular cheesecake restaurant’s offerings any day of the week! We took him up on that chutzpah and ordered a slice of caramel fudge cheesecake to share. He gave us the plate with 2 forks and said«Try it first, THEN pay!» And of course it was phenomenal — creamy and rich without being heavy, and definitely made with love. 1 slice was plenty to share too, so it was a great deal! I hope to return soon, for more fun service and to try the other sweet and savory goodies like the ice cream, pastries and even the gummi bears. Seriously, they were selling containers of gummis and I saw blue bears! That blew my mind. Thanks for a sweet evening!
