Writing a bad review is just an uncomfortable experience… Yet, in this instance, it needs to be done. We received horrible service from the High Desert Appliance«Technician» who was dispatched to our home to fix a stubborn washing machine. He was specifically told not to arrive earlier than 11:30, yet he did anyway and was rude and dismissive when confronted about it. During the 7 minutes he was in our home, which turned out to be nearly $ 10 per minute, he was condescending, argumentative and sarcastic. It’s a tall order to be that unpleasant in such a short timeframe! The office staff, on the telephone, seemed pleasant and responsive during the scheduling process. When I alerted them to the negative experience I had with their technician, they appeared to be genuinely sorry. Yet, they still cashed the check and I doubt I will hear from them again. Of course, in all fairness, I will update my review should that happen! I have determined, in part from this experience, calling appliance repair people in this day and age is usually an unnecessary step in solving an appliance problem. If the repair is too complex for the average homeowner to fix, the cost is likely going to outweigh the benefit of having it repaired. Most appliances are«use until failure and replace with new» items.

Top notch provider of servicing on in home major appliances. High Desert Appliance is all service, no sales component, so there is no conflict in mission. They are factory authorized by most, maybe all, major appliance companies so warranty work is covered. For out of warranty work their prices are fair and reasonable. The administrative management team is great for scheduling and follow up. The technicians arrive when they are supposed to and always get the job done. If you’re having premium brand name appliances serviced and Technician Ken West shows up you will be particularly fortunate. Ken has been at our homes in Bend several times over the last fifteen years, including today when he once again was able to diagnose and resolve the problem all in one visit. Ken has many years of experience(he also once worked for Johnson Brother’s Appliance), he knows his stuff in technical skills and he is simply the nicest guy as well.
