Holy garlic, no matter what you order garlic is the lasting taste you’ll have. The food is okay, the atmosphere is good for a bar, the service is good, the facility is clean for a bar. Not the best place in Bend to visit.

Stopped in here for a bite to eat and a beer after a scary drive in. The mac ‘n cheese is amazing! Beer is good, bathrooms clean and bartender was really nice! As we were leaving I slid on black ice right by the door and hit my head. wasnt even drunk. I could never live in the snow :(

Big Congrats to «Nathan», my bartender of choice in Bend. Nathan never fails to greet and serve me the best. I chose the Hideaway because of Customer Service. Nathan and the«crew» try their best to make you happy every time you enter the place. Food is good, Atmosphere is good, There’s really not a bad seat in the house and if you don’t bad mouth the Patriot’s you will enjoy the owners humor.

Almost a 2 but a good atmosphere gave it a 3 food is expensive for a bar or «tavern» and so far of the few things we’ve tried none were great they were all ok at best.

First time here from out of town. Friendly service. Front row couches were great for watching– well anything! ONTOP of game changes too! I think you have a great name for a sports bar too! Thanks! I’ll be back next time in Bend!

So we have gone here many times and the food was always fantastic. The Benedict was what I order every time I go and it does not disappoint. The only critique I have is that the food is not especially hot when it gets to the table, but that will not stop me from eating there because it is so good!

I wish that Unilocal would offer separate categories for service, atmosphere, food, cleanliness ect. This review is for the food ONLY because the service was very good, the place clean and a great drink selection. The food in the other hand is pretty disappointing. In fact, as I sit here three full hours after eating the burger that was on special, all I can taste is overwhelming garlic and whatever nasty onion soup mix type stuff they over seasoned the burger with! The burger was extremely salty and over seasoned so badly that you literally couldn’t taste the meat and now I’m frankly nauseous because I simply can not get this taste out of my mouth . We also ordered the duck poutine. This stuff is plain nasty. If there was any duck in this dish, we never saw it or tasted it. There is so little meat in this dish that they shouldn’t even bother. Every once in a while while eating this bland(read absolutely flavorless) sloppy mess we would find a string of some sort of grey meat like fiber. Could have been duck I suppose but also could have been about anything really. This dish is smothered in a white pasty gravy that had no flavor and tasted like cooked flour. Disgusting. The cook should have used some of the excess salt he put in my burger to liven Up the poutine. The angry shrimp was nothing more than over breaded, overlooked, very greasy tempura shrimp that you dip in a chili sauce. I don’t know this for sure but I suspect it’s the chili sauce I’ve bought at cash and carry. Big deal. Just not worth the money. This sucks to write this review because I’ve eaten there before and really enjoyed the food. Overall it seems way to inconsistent to bring me back with any regularity. Good place to watch a game but then again, so are lots of other places.

Our first and last trip here. Very expensive. They charge extra for French fries with your sandwich or burger– really? Plus, we had to ask for a different batch of fries because ours were cold and nearly black. The next batch wasn’t much better, greasy and barely warm. Our order was messed up and there were very few people there when we were here last week so wondering how they handle busy days. No one at our table liked their food. When we left we noticed other half-eaten plates on tables. Waiter was nice — that is why a lone star, otherwise we would find it hard to give any stars. $ 60plus is just too much for a simple lunch.

Sunday morning 10AM. Was told to «sit whenever I wanted». 10 minutes later still no waitress. With a 3 and 5 year old this is completely unacceptable. It was pretty clear that the 2 tables full of drunk NFL fans were top priority.

Great beer selection on tap and bottle. Food and service was good. Only complaint were portions were on the small side.

This place was an exceptional lunch find. Order the blue cheese fries. They are phenomenal. They use Rogue creamery blue cheese, and the fry sauce is very good. Only order the«game changer» bloody Mary as a novelty, because it is a meal in itself. The food is from scratch and is excellent. The atmosphere is sports bar, but well done. We will return.

Easy review! Food is delicious! Never had anything I regretted there. Manmosia’s are A++ Bloodied are fabulous! Only downfall, they’re prices are kinda high for a «tavern» On that note, portions are large enough, we usually split a meal. And that’s perfect Looks like it would we a sweet spot to watch UFC fights, they have couches. Almost a VIP vibe, with a curtain.

Quick Review: Lots of great beer on tap, amazing food, lots of TVs, amazing service, BADCOFFEE. Long Review: We were visiting Bend, Oregon from Sacramento, California and decided to come here based off of a recommendation from my cousin who used to live in Bend. We went to this restaurant for breakfast on our way out of town. Hideaway Tavern has a very casual vibe on the inside. The tables where all large wooden tables and they had random beer signs and sports team memorabilia all over the walls. This looked like a great place to watch a game because they have a ton of TVs and about six couches all lined up like a movie theater that have little tables in between for your drinks or food. I ordered a regular coffee and the breakfast burrito that had a name of sausage in the title that I couldn’t pronounce. It was surprisingly delicious! I couldn’t eat the whole thing because it was HUGE but it was my favorite breakfast meal I had while I was in Bend. Their breakfast potatoes were also super good! I didn’t even need ketchup on them! They only reason I am taking off a star is because their coffee was TERRIBLE! I am not a picky coffee person but this coffee just tasted weird… I know I shouldn’t expect great coffee from a bar type restaurant like this one but COMEON! Bend has so many amazing little coffee places, maybe they could use some of theirs? I would absolutely go back to this place though! Great recommendation!

Great service, good drinks, delicious food. Walked in here on a weeknight around 5:30 and sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and asked us how we were doing right away. She took our drink order shortly and offered to put a specific game on the TV for us. The noise level was not a concern – there was no loud music playing that would hamper conversation, even if it were busy. There were some people with kids hanging out – it’s definitely a kid-friendly place. I’m a big fan of good, nothing fancy pub food when i just want to sit and drink, so we ordered the fries and they were delicious. The service remained friendly and prompt the rest of the night and I plan to come here again and again.

First off, they are really busy tonight. I’m guessing unplanned busy. So, that’s worth noting. Sit at the bar. I ask for a cocktail menu, don’t have one. Fine. She’s abrasive, obviously under the gun. Okay, but not my fault. I get a margarita, upgrade to Cuervo Silver. It tastes like a margarita that I’ve drank half of and then came back to it half hour later. Watered down — which it isn’t. Not much flavor. Bummed, I love margaritas. NCAA tournament is going on(I have to stop coming here during the tournament), 4 out of 9 screen are showing NCAA and one of them does have the only PAC12 game showing. Okay, good. 4 out of 9 is not great, but at least they have the most relevant game showing in the far corner of the bar. We order the onion rings as a starter. Seven of them for $ 9. All but one fits in my mouth in one bite. I get the steak frites with blue cheese. Steak is tough, really tough, and flavorless. Chimichurri sauce that comes with the steak(which I typically love) is flavorless. Garlic is the prime ingredient in this, I don’t taste it at all. Fries have a few dribbles of blue cheese on them. I only eat maybe 20% of the meal. My partner gets the Chuck Norris pizza. I have two slices of that to compensate for the steak. Crust is soggy. I put parmesan and pepper flakes on the pizza and it’s not bad. Time to wrap it up. Bartender(who’s service has improved) asks if we need to-go containers? I say yes, but for the pizza only. She doesn’t ask about my steak and how it was. I don’t offer an opinion, figuring they are crazy busy. I should have said something. In the meanwhile I’ve had on previous visits the grinder sandwich — nothing, turkey pot pie is seemingly a cheese lovers paradise. The food is not great. So…little odd as a sports bar as far as viewing options, not great service and the food was a disappointment.

I came here to watch the Oregon vs. UCLA game and after the first quarter our service was terrible. It seemed to us like they sent most of their staff home. Our first waiter left and required us to close all of our tabs. Then our second sever appeared to be waiting on the entire bar and was rarely at our table. To top it all off, once the game was over I asked one of the severs to change the channel, when she got to the right channel I said«we’re good!» then she said«holy sh*t» which I would’ve been cool with if there weren’t two kids under 7 at our table. When my girlfriend went to complain to a manager, they told her the«holy sh*t» server was the manager. If true, this leads me to believe John has made a poor choice in leadership. Hopefully he can fix this since my experiences at the Victorian Café have always been exceptional. Pros: Excellent food, great beer selection, and fun atmosphere for watching sports. Cons: Very slow or non existent service at times(don’t come hungry or thirsty because you may wait awhile). No one in this«sports» bar cares about sports or puts popular games on. You’ll usually have to ask. I’ve been here about 20 times in the past year and base my Pros and Cons on multiple visits.

This tavern was a very good size. It was divey without the dirty and made for a great sports bar without the douchebags. There were a lot of TVs and they were all playing football. It’s also roomy in there, so it’s great for large groups. The food was only ok. The best thing on the menu were the poutines, so if you go here, you need to order that. The truffle fries were also REALLY good. Everything else is mediocre at best, but they do give large portions(especially when you order the fries). Very good service by an older gentleman and a good selection of craft beer on tap. They do take credit cards, and there is a full bar.

Located where Grovers Pub used to be and owned by the same guy as Victorian Café, our first visit to Hideaway was 3.5 star worthy. We were fans of the good food at decent prices and friendly server. Other elements left us less enthusiastic. This venture is a newer one so time may work those out. GOOD Things 1. FRIENDLYSERVICE: The young woman behind the bar was also the only server to take food orders in the restaurant during our lunch time visit. Really congenial, she made us feel immediately welcome and gave the same greeting to the dozen or so folks who followed us in during the hour we were there. 6 stars! 2. AMBIANCE: This IS a sports bar and there are roughly eight televisions, all of good quality, mounted on walls at smart viewing locations throughout the bar. Also, while the tables and chairs look as if it could be a sardine can squeeze if all were occupied, most are at standard height seating which is a big plus. Also, there is a sofa and chairs under one window and a pool table available too. 3. LIBATIONS: Bend is something of «beervanha“and it was interesting to note sixteen or so beers on tap. All are available in growlers if you want to take the party home with you. Hideway also has a full bar, although no specialty cocktail list when we asked.(Didn’t ask about a wine list.) The Angry Orchard Hard Cider we ordered to go with lunch was good and as I remember the pint came in under $ 4 given lunch time falls in the Happy Hour window. 4. MENU&FOOD: The chef has professional kitchen cred having once worked at Bend’s continental dining Jackalope Grill. The all day menu is smallish, maybe a couple of dozen options ranging from appetizers to soup to mac n cheese to burgers and sandwiches to salads to pizzas. There are apparently two soups daily, one vegetarian and one not, and two specialty pizzas, the gatherer(vegetarian) and the hunter(carnivore). We lean to vegetarian eating so that was nice to see. A claim to fame here is Poutine, a Canadian in origin french fries and duck gravy concoction some or my Unilocal friends fancy, so heads up for them. We had the house made veggie burger($ 8) and Marguerite pizza($ 12). The veggie burger was very good served on a roll with basil aioli, tomatoes, red onions and romaine lettuce. The pizza crust was thin and chewy, the arrabiata sauce on top was tasty and the mozzarella was housemade as well. We’d order both again. 5. VALUE: Prices are reasonable ranging from about $ 4 to $ 16. Lunch for two with leftover pizza to take home for dinner that night and a pint of hard cider clocked in under $ 25. COULDBEBETTER Things 1. HICCUPSINGETTINGFOODFROMKITCHENTOTABLE: Food was inexplicably slow to come out of the kitchen, not just for us but for others, given how few customers were in the restaurant during the hour we visited at lunch service. Plus, our items were not served in «one then two» order we requested, but all at once after a long wait. The aioli was asked for on the side was served on the sandwich. This suggests coordination problems between front of house and kitchen. 2. «SAYWHAT???»: The music was deafeningly loud when we arrived and for some time thereafter before the sound came down a couple of decibels. Having to shout across the table to be heard over the sound system is never a great idea, especially at lunch. On the silver lining side, the music mix was a good one. 3. EQUALACCESS: On the plus side, The Hideaway is level in and much of the seating is on that level. On a down note, the accessible(aka ADA) parking fails minimums as the access aisle is on the wrong side per Federal rules and State building code. This means folks who use wheelchair ramp vehicles can’t deploy the ramps to get out of the car. Hard to explain the violation in 2012 after recent remodels here when the rules have been the same since 1990. The owner might want to explain it to the guy I met whose legs were severed in Iraq and now uses a wheelchair ramp van. THIS N THAT 1. Blackboard at entry door said Happy Hour from 11:30 — 5:00. Our server said this meant a buck off beers and reduced rates on well drinks 2. Brunch service on Saturday and Sunday only, starts at 9:00 and the menu is unusual with things like breakfast pizzas and burritos and the aforementioned Poutine. So an option to check out, but does not appear to be a pancakes and omelets kind of brunch location 3. The tall sign in front still says«Grovers» so look for that as landmark.
