Service was fine but the coffee is horrid. Super bitter like wet leather! I couldn’t even finish my cup, which is unusual because I love coffee. The bakery selections look great. Next time I will avoid the coffee and eat a scone instead.

Gimme fuel! Gimme fire! Gimme that which I desire! COFFEEEEE! But hold the cream and sugar please. Simply serve mine up with a side of knowledge! See, like many others these days, I’m not a mindless commodity coffee consumer. I’m after a bit more involved and intellectual coffee experience that goes well beyond the brown beverage that puts a little pep in my step each morning, and that’s exactly what I got at Backporch, and why id suggest any coffee Lovin’ fool in Bend pay them a visit. I love the sleek, modern, bright feel of Backporch. The big windows let in lots of light, which is amplified by the white walls, and the high ceiling took the ambient sound of morning conversation and transformed it into a symphony of white noise that had me focusing on the coffee in front of me. When I walked in, I was pleasantly greeted with a big smile. The barista gladly told me about the various coffees they were pouring upon my request, and did it in a really approachable manner that would have any customer intrigued, and even make them slightly more appreciative of the coffee they’re about to consume. When I visit new coffee shops, especially those that roast their own beans, I really like ordering an espresso and a brewed coffee to get a sense of the flavor profiles they’re after. I found Backporch coffees to have complexities that coffee snobs would enjoy, with flavor profiles that could be recognized as unique and appreciated by everyone! That’s basically a long winded way of saying this is a great coffee shop, and I can’t wait to go back!

Super good third wave all that yadda yadda AND a really comfy local place. The espresso flight is a great idea — a house blend and a single origin — and the Brazil doubleshot was stellar. Also cold brew was light, fruity, nutty goodness… they just do it well.

Yes! This is my favorite coffee place so far in Bend(although I haven’t tried all of them yet, there are so many good ones here!). Espresso is smooth and tastes soooo fresh, you can tell that it is both roasted and ground not long before they make it for you. And the pastries… not made in house, but fresh and oh so good! Really liked the pumpkin maple scone. Friendly baristas and a bright, inviting space!

Very happy that the girl needed to find some wifi. Stopped in here and got a single origin cappuccino. The girl got a mocha, and both were excellent. Super friendly staff and really well trained baristas. They do a really good job of roasting the beans. If I were to nitpick, I would love it if they would make their own chocolate ganache. The chocolate they use is organic and pretty good. Just not as good as their coffee.

Meh. The coffee is good. The espresso and drip is good quality. And their overall drink preparation and presentation is that of a very well trained barista. My first issue is the inconsistency. Sometimes it’s way too hot and the milk is flat, sometimes it’s too foamy and cold and other times it’s done correctly. I recommend asking them to heat their mugs if you’re getting a «for here» cup” because those drinks are way on the cool end every time. My second issue is that it’s boring. Every espresso and drip drink tastes almost the exact same and they have very few choices on the menu. I love traditional drinks and third wave specialty coffee, but I can never take my friends or family here if they are searching for anything beyond a traditional milk/coffee drink. The chai isn’t good. It tastes like a water brewed chai bag with a little steamed milk. Watery and little spices. The service is slow and a bit snobby.

Best Hipster coffee on the West Side! The baristas seem to have good attention to detail and pride themselves on pulling the perfect shot. They even do the heart design thingy with the foam. The coffee itself is strong and bold, just how I like it. I always stop by Backporch Coffee when in Bend.

Great coffee. Probably my favorite in Bend. The coffee shop is always packed though. It’s hard to find a place to sit sometimes.

Backporch has two locations now — this one and one on Century. Of the two, the Century location is much better with much friendlier people and a great space. The Newport space is also lovely but the baristas tend to be snooty and more interested in chatting with each other than serving customers. It’s unusual for Bend. The coffee here is the same as at the Century location and is excellent. They also have a selection of pastries here but often run out very early(sometimes by 9am — poor planning). When we’re on/near Newport, we go to Sparrow now for coffee; when we’re further south, we hit Backporch on Century. When we’re in town, it’s Lone Pine or, if we have the dog with us, Looney Bean.

Really enjoyed the cold brew at Backporch. So much that it was our go-to place while in Bend visiting friends. I agree with other reviews stating that it has the trendy coffeeshop vibe, but I don’t agree with the«you have to be young and cute to not be treated rudely here» statement. I’m not as young as I used to be(my age starts with a «4» now… how’d that happen?!) and my cuteness phase may also have peaked already, but I found the staff to be friendly and courteous when we were there. Give it a shot, and the worst that can happen is that you go to another one of the hundred coffee shops in Bend. Coffee is so personal, I think it is great to have so many choices. When I’m in town, though, I’ll spend my money at Backporch.

I have been here numerous times and the people are so rude I am 50 years old and not young and cute so the girls at the counter do not give me the time of day and instead give me attitude The coffee is just medicore and am so glad that I found THUMP which is by far a way cooler place and way better coffee

Love this place! Great coffee, fantastic baristas and love the outdoor seating! We enjoyed our morning coffees(well an iced chai for my husband) at the outdoor tables with our dog. Also, cute location!

This is a solid place to get coffee in Bend. If you are after a good espresso however, you won’t find it here. Their single origin wasn’t quite up to snuff. Solid Latte, solid cold brew.

One of the best coffee places in Bend! I would give it 5 stars, but sadly, I haven’t been there in a few months. Every time I’ve gone, the coffee has been great, and the staff are upbeat and nice. Yummy coffee, you can’t go wrong.

I no longer live on the West side of town, and when I did it was just a few blocks from Backporch, so I haven’t been in in awhile. That being said… Definitely has the trendy Coffee Shop vibe going for it. Creative flavoring, spartan interior, not enough comfortable seating, soccer moms and the creative class partake in their caffeinated beverages. Don’t go there if you are hungry and thirsty at the same time… They have the regular assortments of coffee related snacks to accompany your drink but it’s not enough to get you through any amount of time. The coffee is usually good and I’m fairly adventurous gastronomically, but the last few times I had the Sage syrup it upset my stomach and I had to toss out about the last third of my latte. Disappointing.

Some of the best coffee in town! The baristas are friendly and knowledgeable. The space has lots of natural light. Also one of the few cafés open past 3 p.m. for those late afternoon conversations over coffee. Absolutely nothing wrong here. Backporch is quickly becoming my regular go-to café in Bend. A latte feels overpriced to me… but then, lattes everywhere always seem overpriced.

Good company that gives back in the community. I already have my favorite place in town, but will come here over Starbucks any day. Plus they carry Village Baker cookies. Nice staff. Service is incredibly slow? Every time I’ve been.
