Fantastic Coming from Chicago, we weren’t familiar with the area. We needed a place for our rehearsal dinner and contact Christian. What an amazing discovery! The Gatsby Wine bar was an amazing venue for a relaxed dinner. The food was amazing. Oysters Rockefeller, Lobster mac and cheese, Calamari fries, and everything else was fantastic. The price was a steal. They told us that we were the first rehearsal dinner to host there and I can’t imagine that we will be the last.

Appetizers were good(crab cakes and calamari fries). Lobster bisque was great. Then it all went downhill from there. The filet mignon was ordered medium and came out well done. Part of the lobster tail was still uncooked. Two out of my four scallops were cooked perfectly; the third scallop was really gritty and the fourth was partially raw. The crème brûlée was still gooey on the bottom. If we had more time, we would have sent the steak back. What a sad waste of $ 145.

Had the cod stuffed, fish was tough needed a steak knife to cut it. Never had fish that was tough, coffee was Luke warm when I got it, mentioned and showed the waitress the fish. She said she’ll talk to the chef. Nothing was said. Probably won’t return, although service was ok.

We are giving this 2 stars because of the crazy price of the drink in the bar downstairs before dinner. That said my husband ordered Grey Goose on the rocks… I ordered a glass of wine which was 8.50 not a big deal at all. We asked for the bill because our friends had arrived to meet us for dinner upstairs. Ok so our bar tab came and it was 19.50… What? I looked at the bill and the vodka was 7 $ ok so how did the bill get to be 19.50? They charged 4 $ for ROCKS! Say WHAT? Yep right there on the bill 4 $ for rocks! So we asked our server about it and we were told we weren’t actually charged 4 $ for the rocks it’s just the way the computer prints it for the STYLE of drink ordered? WHAT? So she got her manager and he told us the same thing, but then he added it was a double pour… WHAT? Who asked for a double pour… I think they were at this point were looking for anything to cover the fact they charged for ice. We have traveled the world and have NEVER heard of being charged for ice. We did ask if they charged for the ice in a young mans cola and they said no. Food upstairs was ok and hard to believe but then we had the server from downstairs our waiter upstairs… awkward ! Won’t go back… sorry.

An excellent place for a date with a cozy setting and very friendly wait staff. The seafood is very fresh for being a Midwest restaraunt and the steak is incredibly tender and well seasoned. You can feel comfortable dressing up or showing up in casual clothes. The only downside is that I would change the price rating to $$$ rather than $$.

Ok, who says you can’ get food in Beloit, Wisconsin? Great food, terrific atmosphere, romantic. Excellent service. A bit out of the way, but worth it. Nice wine bar downstairs… Been back three times never been disappointed. Enjoy!

Visited this place on 11⁄21 with a couple of friends who’ve been here before and raved how great it was. We started off in the bar while our table was being prepared. The drinks were outstanding so I couldn’t wait for the dinning experience. When we were seated our server came to the table and immediately took our drink order and gave us menus. We ordered the oyster Rockefeller as an appetizer. The bread came out which was fresh and the appetizer was amazing. Unfortunately it went downhill from here. Two of us in our party ordered the 20oz bone in ribeye with Oscar topping while the 3rd guest in out party ordered the prime rib special. The steaks and prime rib came out barely warm so we told our server. The manager came out and said he will take care of them immediately. Within 10 minutes our SAME plates came out. At this time our steaks were over cooked and the asparagus was dried out at the ends. We told the manager who blamed the chef. At this point we just wanted to leave. Very unsatisfied. Had really high hopes but they failed to perform. I would expect more from a place that charges $ 50 for a steak and topping.

The atmosphere is exactly what I was looking for to celebrate our anniversary. With two kids under two, we desperately needed something for«grown ups!» The ambiance is dark and romantic, the booths are secluded and candlelit, and the food was classy and delicious. I absolutely can’t wait for our next date night to try the wine bar and the live music.

Went to Clara Bo for a casual business dinner. Great atmosphere, very friendly waitstaff and excellent food(the NY Strip was cooked perfectly). All in our group had a very nice time.

I am traveling in from out of town on business and this is my second trip to Claire bows. The first time was much like the second little disappointing and not at all a good value. I got the New York strip this time and all the steak tasted fine and was cooked perfectly it had an excessive amount of fat on it. My expectation for a $ 30 steak in Beloit is much much higher. Service was good atmosphere was okay but the prices are expensive for what you get.

I really really REALLY wanted to love this place. Beloit has precious few good high end eateries. However, our first visit was lack luster. The space was loud and the wait staff inexperienced and slow. The food was okay, but not amazing. I gave it another try with a friend about a month ago. Our waiter, again, was slow and didn’t seem to know the first thing about waiting tables. The space was crowded and loud… more like a sports bar than a fine dining restaurant. The kicker, though? My friend and I BOTH walked away that night with a raging case of food poisoning. Sad, but I don’t think we’ll be back any time soon:(

We went to Clara Bo’s on a Sunday afternoon– reservations @ 2:30. It was very disappointing. The menu was a salad and sandwich menu with a few items containing salmon. Two of our party ordered salmon and the waitress said they only had 4 pieces for the day and another table took 3 of them. Really? There was only 1 other table occupied –I think it was 7 people. Our food took an unacceptable amount of time and when I asked why, the waitress said it was because the other table got their order in first. I questioned how they could possibly handle it if the restaurant was full and was told they do just fine. I’m doubtful. I ordered the tuna steak sandwich and asked for it medium instead of the more common rare. She was not sure the chef would do that. When it came, of course it was rare and I mentioned it to the waitress and she said no it wasn’t too rare at all. Again, really? Of the five of us, no one thought their meals were exceptional. They were all judged average. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

Yum doesn’t even begin to explain this place. The staff, food and atmosphere are amazing. This is a perfect place for date night or when you want to get away for a lighthearted time.

Food and ambience was great… server was friendly and knowledgeable… only issue was it took foreeever for the food to come out… pretty sure they went out to the field to hunt the meat! But… the food was pretty tasty and the drinks were awesome! I’d definitely come back again but with plenty of time!

Sorry I can only go four stars. Could even be 3.5. Great space. Andrew the bartender was friendly and really good.(Added a star.). Band I really wanted to love this place. Awesome space, and a really cool downstairs tapas bar with a really cool space for jazz. Two issues, noting we had lunch and we will be back to give them another chance for five stars because they hit on so many notes: 1. Wine list is good, but would expect more by the glass and flights(note they are willing to offer a taste); 2. Salad was excellent and they make their dressings, which is reason enough to check them out. But, the fig apple Brie bruschetta was just fair.(Darn!). I hate rinds on the Brie. Yep, some may laugh or call me a snob but I like cheese without its wrapping and I suspect I am not alone. And if you are goi g to cut bread that thick you either need great bread(this was good but not great) or you need to season the bread. This was bland and distracting from the great fig and nicely prepared apple. This is a very good place, with great staff, and a kitchen that is close to greatness.(To be fair, we only tried two dishes. The menu is awesome. We will be back for a second chance and hopefully some jazz.)

Went here for the first time last night with my husband and another couple. We LOVED it! The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous. We were seated right away and our waitress was there to take our drink order. Nice wine list and the appetizer were delicious and our meals were outstanding! After dinner we went down to the Wine bar and had after dinner drinks. We will defiantly be back!

Love this place! Have visited a few times, never disappointed. For a drink before &/or after dinner, Gatsby Wine Bar is so classy & stylish. Love the 20’s themed specialty drinks and the tapas menu is delish. Beef sliders with brie cheese & caramelized onions. The best! Clara bo has some interestingly delicious entrees. I had the bone– in rib eye steak, cowboy style. Great portion size, had the rest for lunch next day. Steak was tender and seasoned to perfection. Can’t wait for my next visit. Sea bass or scallops and for sure one of their scrumptious desserts. Beloit you are blessed!

This is our first visit to Clara Bo. We went as a large group and have to say it is now my favorite restaurant of the Beloit Area. To start with, our waiter’s name was Joe, he was extremely friendly and attentive. We ordered the cheese and meat tray and a crab dip. Both were plentiful for a table of 7 and tasted very good. The variety of cheese was perfect and it was a huge serving. As we got our appetizer, we also received two baskets of bread which were fresh baked and a perfect accompaniment I ordered a pasta, so I received a soup or salad to start with. I choose the french onion soup which was the best I have had in over 15 years. The flavor of the broth was perfectly seasoned with a cheese and croûton layer that made the overall soup delectable, truly, something of a masterpiece. Next, I had the Pasta Genovese without the chicken… It was AMAZING. They added fresh vegs and topped it with shaved parmesan, it was perfectly seasoned with a depth of flavor that I would expect at a 5 star Chicago restaurant. For dessert we tried the flourless torte and the molten cake… both were excellent, but the Dark Chocolate Molten Cake definitely takes the prize. With the combination of ice cream and the rich chocolate oozing from the inside of the cake, it is something that is essential to complete the meal. Overall, we will definitely be back again. The service by Joe was splendid and the food was out of this world. To have a restaurant of this caliber in our fine town of Beloit, we are truly honored.
