Really devolved in the last few years… very unprofessional now. Don’t pay attention to checking people in or taking payments and keep talking to each other and on the phone during the haircut. Distracted and unpleasant service.

Can only speak for the pedicures at Salon de Paris. I went in for a pedicure which lasted all of 15 minutes. I was rushed into the chair. When I asked if I could pick a color first, she said, «No, no – you just point. I’ll get it.!» My feet soaked in lukewarm water for about 3 minutes. She used a pumice for about 30 seconds. Wiped some lotion on my feet(no massage), and slapped on some color. When she asked after the first couple of toes whether I liked the color, I said, «Not really.» I probably should’ve been clearer(??!) as she went ahead and finished painting my toes. I was out of the seat in 15 minutes. My friend I was with started her pedicure a little before me, and hers took more than twice as long. Yet we both paid the same price. Really, it was the worst pedicure I ever got. Definitely would NOT recommend this place.

I stopped by needing an eye brow wax on a Sunday morning. They got me right in which was wonderful. The interior is very nicely decorated and very clean. While it’s nice inside the dress code is casual and I didn’t feel out of place in weekend clothes. The young woman who did my eye brows did a fantastic job! She really took her time and I have never been more pleased. I will absolutely be going back and trying more services.

I love Salon de Paris! It’s a one stop shop and they are good at everything. I get my hair cut, colored, highlighted, mani, pedi, massage and airbrush makeup done there. The new location is gorgeous and the prices are reasonable. The best part is not having to make an appointment! Everyone is so sweet and great at what they do. Highly recommend! In fact I am going back today :-)

Been getting my hair colored and cut here for about 2 years. Keep coming back because:(1) they are efficient — I’m in an out very quickly(I’ve done single process — no cut or dry — in one hour flat);(2) good prices;(3) free(street) parking;(4) no appointments(I find them useless at hair salons anyway, and don’t like planning anything more ahead of time than I have to);(5) love how my hair comes out — I’m brunette and color to blond;(6) VERY comfortable hair wash seats(beds).(Seriously, don’t under-rate that last one. When you get your hair washed here, you lie down. The part under your neck is horizontal — no edge jamming into your neck for 15 minutes while they pull out highlight foils.) Also, I don’t feel alot of upsell. There is some, which I’m ok with(they are a small business, and all the salons do it). I read some of the other Unilocal reviews for Salon de Paris: I’m pretty sure they are reviewing a different one(seems like a name other salons might use). A couple of the people — Santa Barbara and NC — are from other parts of the country, and only have reviews in their areas(so, don’t seem to review places from their travels); one speaks of a male hair dresser(they don’t have one); one says they were late for her appointment time — but, Salon de Paris in Belmont, Mass. doesn’t take any appointments! It’s all walk in. Took off one star because I do feel a bit out of place sometimes(they all speak — with many customers and among themselves — another language) and the music is just not my thing and too loud, but none of that is that big a deal. The price and how my hair looks is what’s most important to me, and for just those 2 points they get 5 stars.

Great ladies running a great salon! Lots of harsh reviews here and I totally disagree. Yes, they speak a different language. So what? They run the salon a little different than others — and that is exactly what works for me. I’m a long time client. I can call an hour a head of time and they somehow always fit me in. Try that somewhere else. Great prices and great service. Accept it for what it is and go with it!

Whether you like Salon De Paris will depend on what you are looking for. Salon De Paris is not your typical salon: you don’t have to book your hair appointment, there isn’t a rotating group of stylists passing through, and you often don’t get banal chatter. You do get Armenian pop music, plenty of regular customers– many of whom are also Armenian, a cup of strong coffee, and pleasant, although not always super talkative customer service. Their model works really well for me. I never make an appointment. I just walk in when I have time– often on a Saturday morning. The prices are extremely competitive, and Lucy(whom I always see) is technically competent. I frequently get stopped by strangers who ask where I get my hair cut. I don’t go in with a predefined idea of the exact cut I want. I love trying new styles, figure hair stylists know way more about hair than I do– and they never listen to you anyways. I usually just point to how short/long I’d like my hair, and let Lucy give me something fun. I always get something new, and if I don’t love it, it’s hair; I’ll be ready for another cut in a month.

I went here for a straightening treatment. They boasted that it was healthier than Japanese chemical straightening in addition to being significantly cheaper. Some new stylist was assigned to me and they had to walk him through the steps in front of me(unprofessional). During the application, I complained that my scalp was burning! When they washed it out, I found that some of the skin on my ear had definitely reacted with whatever their cheap formula was. Also after my first wash(I waited the obligatory 2 – 3 days of no wash after treatment), my hair went right back to curly and frizzy. What a waste of money and time for a «straightening» treatment!

I’ve yet to get a haircut here but went for the $ 20 mani/pedi special. I was a walk in and didn’t have to wait too long. The work was done well although a little hurried, not as relaxing as I’ve had in the past but ok. It would be better advertised as an express pedicure. all the same I would go back, just might go elsewhere if I wanted more of a spa pedicure.

I would give this place zero stars. Their mani/pedi special for $ 20 is NOT worth it. The woman who did my nails was really nice, but had no idea what she was doing. She basically just took off my old nail polish and applied my new shades. She hardly scrubbed my feet, did the cuticles for a second, and slopped on lotion. For my manicure she did the polish so thick and gooey, so now my nails look terrible. She also got the polish on the skin around my nail. I’ll never go here again. I’ll pay the extra money elsewhere. Also, for the nail special it’s cash only.

So i was really excited to try this place and they were having a $ 20 mani/pedi special. I got there at 2pm the time of my appointment where no one acknowledged. I made the effort to let someone know and they told me to have a seat. I saw only 1 girl doing nails. After being ignored for 10 minutes someone came over and had me sit in the pedicure seat and soak my feet. My feet soaked for 30 minutes!!! finally i said something and the girl doing nails asked me to wait another 10 minutes that someone came late. I dont understand how she could have been 45 minutes behind schedule! It seemed to me that it wasnt the manicurist’s fault and that someone had to have screwed up scheduling. She gave me a mani/pedi in probably 15 minutes. It was so rushed I couldn’t even enjoy. She actually did my manicure in the pedicure chair because someone else was waiting for their mani/pedi at her table! It was unreal at this place. Not only all that but when I went to pay they wanted to charge me an extra $ 5 just to pay with a credit card. I refused and paid cashed and I felt truly guilty because I didn’t have a lot of cash on me and the manicurist got a bad tip because of everyone else! Don’t go here not worth the special!!!

So far, I have only come here for a mani/pedi. I have always had good results with my manicures lasting several days and my pedicures lasting a few weeks. The only thing to be aware of: I believe only one person is on staff doing nails, and there are only two pedicure chairs. If you’re in a hurry, you might want to call ahead. The atmosphere is nice and friendly; it feels very eclectic, and they always have interesting world music playing. As I’m flipping through their stack of fashion magazines, I occasionally look up and see someone getting a terrific haircut or color. The stylists all seem to have real talent. All in all, a good Cushing Square establishment.
