Hands down best Chinese food around. You can tell their food is fresh and well prepared. They have the best chicken teriyaki I’ve ever had. My wife loves their beef and snow peas. All the workers are super friendly and they have the cleanest kitchen I’ve seen in a Chinese food restaurant. I called tonight 10 mins after closing time and they still took my walkin order because they were waiting on delivery drivers to come back… Do yourself a favor and check these guys out!

Hit and miss. Typical Chinese American food but good for take out. Like the option to order how spicy you want the food to be. Easy ordering online. Quick service.

Some of the best Chinese food I’ve had in the area! We have been ordering delivery for several weeks now and the quality of the food is amazing. I couldn’t recommend them more!

I love this place and stop by any time I am craving for Chinese food! I tried several Chinese places around Boston, but this is my favorite one. Food is great and tasty. I especially like their beef fried rice and Kung pow both chicken and beef version. You should definitely give them a try if you live in this area or drive by.

Initially I had some doubt about the quality of the food but I was mistaken. It’s the best take out Chinese food that I have tried so far. Some dishes are authentic and delicious such as Salted fish and chicken fried rice, Yang Chow fried rice, teriyaki chicken, and salt and pepper calamari.

We gave it another try… we have had better. Chicken wings were okay. Rice is not that great. Rice with pork… nothing else in it. Delivery was on time… so some improvement.

New management has really stepped up. Their chicken wings at first had too much seasoning(not the a deal breaker) but I just had their wings the other day and they were perfectly seasoned. All the recipes have improved considerably, and you get real good bang for your buck. The main reason I always ordered my Chinese from Number One Taste was because the old owners never added MSG in their food and I never got that disgusting feeling in my stomach/gut/soul you normally get after eating MSG-infused Chinese. Jack, please don’t add MSG to your food!

Chinese food restaurants collectively have their glory and shortcomings. This particular operator I like — alot. First, their crab rangoons are simply delicious. I could eat those non-stop.(and I do). Second, the portion sizes are generous — very good deal for the dollar. Lastly, their set up is pretty transparent — a customer can see much of the kitchen and gauge the place for cleanliness and effectiveness directly. Hands down, one of the best Chinese places in Belmont/Watertown area.

I am not a huge Unilocal user, so for me to log on and write a review means a company really made an impression. This place sure made an impression. Unfortunately, a very bad one… I had read reviews here and they all sounded like the restaurant was really getting good. So we decided to give it a try. We placed an order for delivery, and it took just about an hour to arrive(we live in the same town). I ordered chicken lo mein, which for some reason HAD to come with pork fried rice. I have never heard of a dinner menu that required you to get rice. A lunch special, maybe, but not dinner. The only thing edible were the noodles themselves, which were just so-so. Sort of greasy. The chicken is the usual«what type of pre-chewed meat IS that??» stuff lower-end restaurants love to use. In other words, CHEAP. The rice was downright NASTY. Odd color, very little pork. The pork that WAS in there tasted bad and was fatty. What worried me the most was the fact the rice itself tasted like some sort of cleaning chemical. I am not kidding… And soy sauce did not help. One taste, and I started to worry I’d get sick from it. My boyfriend tried to be diplomatic and didn’t say much about his wonton soup and beef & broccoli. From what I could tell, his soup was so-so. He also said something was wrong with the rice. He didn’t eat much of the main course… We decided we will NOT be going back. If this place has gotten better, like recent reviewers say, then what did it USED to be like???

I agree with other Unilocalers who say that it has gotten better! The food tastes different and tastes so much freshers and not so salty and saucy like before! Ive always been a fan of this place, even though they are your typical neighborhood joint, but thats the beauty of it! I’m so glad they improved the quality of the food!

Number One Taste has only gotten better this year. I keep going back for their lunch and dinner specials. The fried rice is done perfectly.

This is americanized take-out chinese. Within that category, number one taste is particularly good. The vegetables are fresh, the sauces are good, very reasonably priced. Good crab rangoon.

sent somebody out to pick up lunch for the office today… food was ready when promised, hot and the portions were large enough that we all have leftovers for dinner… Pretty good deal for«American Chinese» food… We have this place on speed dial!

Everything is freshly prepared. We’ve been trying to find a new Chinese spot after Ling Garden closed, and now that Sichuan Garden is gross. We’ve been looking for a new place for years. We finally found it! Their crab rangoons are delicious! I also recommend their lo mein, fried rice, chicken wings, peking raviolis, and orange or general gaus chicken. The chicken with ginger sauce is also good. The shrimp here are huge and deveined, which is awesome for a Chinese restaurant. The delivery took 20 minutes. The prices are also very affordable.

Number One is pretty decent for take-out or delivery… The food had good taste, the price was reasonable, and the delivery showed up in a timely manner. Plus their take out menu has some worth while coupons. Nothing too thrilling, but no complaints either. Very OK.
