Joffs Backyard Grill

Food was ok — nothing to RUN back to. Décor inside I could usually care less about no matter how nice or low budget, but this was just odd — Christmas lights, lots of random clutter and lattice with fake vines just made it weird. Had to wait up front for a few minutes too long until someone came up front and took our order. We had something they said was tenderloin and I can tell you with 101% assurance that it was NOT tenderloin. It certainly was flavorful and good but it was tough and gristly like a sirloin tip and not even REMOTELY like tenderloin or tenderloin tips. TISK-​TISK.

nom nom nom nom nom … so delicious. First visit but certainly not the last. We ordered take out and I had the BBQ chicken sandwich and fries and I ate every last bite. Portions are very reasonable & so is the price. I would highly recommend giving this place a try.

Hot Dog review only
Large hot dog… small flavor. I think this was a Bar-​S dog which are notoriously bland.
Yes the dog is big, but there is more quantity here than quality. $ 9+ for a chili dog.
If they used a quality dog (Pearl for example) and used fresh grated cheese rather than the pre-​shredded 5# bag stock then they’d have something here.

Great burgers, fries and awesome grilled wings! It gets a little smoky in there and the bathroom is not the best, but food is great.

Eating the standard burger yummy. wanted to try ribs but broke a filling. very filling and for what Wendy’s and McDonald’s and five guys charge… don’t do it check this place out hidden gem!

Stacked pulled pork sandwich: Pulled pork sandwich with fries and onion rings on it. So good. So filling. I hear they make great burgers too.

Stopped by Joff’s because I drove by it and it looked appealing. I like how the décor was themed to be like a backyard, with lawn chairs, outdoor garbage bins and picnic tables all inside. I got the bbq chicken sandwich which was good, pretty standard, nothing spectacular but good. I also got chili which was amazing. It was sweet with just a subtle spice that was a perfect balance. I’d come back just to enjoy the chili and try some ribs that sounded amazing. I think this place could use another tv though, plenty of people dining in and only a small on atop a fridge. Everyone was friendly and the food came out quick. I’ll be back.

This place must be surviving on their standard grilled items, like hamburgers & wings, because the BBQ is just not happening at this place. To be honest, I thought the place was called Joffs Backyard «BBQ» and not «Grill». When I left the place, and found out that it was «Grill» from their signage, it all made sense.
When I pulled in the parking lot, a flume of smoke was rising from the the building, so I thought I was in for some fine smoked BBQ. Even walking in the door, there is a haze of smoke that is heavily present. BUT, no smell. What kind of smoke has no noticeable aroma too it?
On to the food…
I got the Pulled Pork & ½ Rack of Ribs plate. It came with corn bread, coleslaw, and a cup of extra BBQ SAUCE, I guess for the ribs. First of all, I hope you want sauce poured all over your pulled pork, because you don’t have a choice. It’s coming that way, if you don’t know to ask them not to. Pulled pork was way over cooked and very well could have come from a crockpot. Absolutely no smoke flavor, and in addition to the sauce they put on top, they must mix some in with the big batch once pulled, probably to add moisture to it. BIG FLOP, No good.
They must only have one BBQ sauce flavor, as there is no selection. It ok tasting, with a strange aftertaste. Take it or leave it kind of sauce.
Next I tasted the ribs. Also very over cooked. Read other reviews and everyone describes «fall off the bone», like that is the tell-​all of a well cooked rib. This rib does in fact fall off the bone, because it is overcooked and turns to paste in your mouth. There is nothing to actually chew. Again, NO SMOKE FLAVOR at all!!! A rib should pull from the bone easily, not fall off, and leave you work to do by chewing it up. I caught about 2 bites like that from the center area of the rack. Wicked disappointment.
Cornbread & coleslaw were ok, but who cares.
WAY overpriced. Bathrooms are old and very used, as is the entrance to the place. They leave the doors to the vestibule open and all sorts of street grime, sticks, leaves, and sand get in there. Very unappetizing way to begin a meal.

Joffs is awesome, I don’t know where to begin. I had my graduation party catered by them over the summer and it was amazing. The Ribs are phenomenal, they melt in your mouth and I could drink the BBQ sauce straight from a glass. We got pulled pork too which was just perfect. A sandwich made with the pork and the coleslaw is incredible. And don’t even get me started with the wings. I ordered some tonight for the Patriots game and oh my god they are the best wings I’ve ever had. I tried both the classic fried style wings with their hot buffalo sauce, and the honey garlic wings done in the fire-​roasted style. The classic buffalo ones could match up with any classic chicken wing. The honey garlic wings though are the best wings I’ve ever had in my life. A little sweet, but some great garlic flavor as well. They cannot be beat. Had some of their homemade chili too which was both sweet and spicy and their fresh cut fries are also great. The amazing food is only complimented by an incredibly friendly and helpful staff. There is nothing wrong Joffs and I hope there never will be. I will continue to be a regular for a long time

I had my three kids with me. We were treated nicely. Ordered a full rack, ccfries, side salad and a burger. The ribs were just right as well as the sauce. I will definitely be back.

Looking for a step above 5 guys and we sure found it. I actually had the half rack of ribs, and I am sure glad I did. Unbelievable, tender meaty moist and flavorful. Best I’ve had in a long time. Everything else was ok too, but the ribs… oh man. Now I expected and did like the smokey atmosphere, like grilling in the backyard. But I would have to say I think it was a bit much tonight. I could hardly see across the room. Anyway, good menu and cheaper than those chains.

We visit Bellingham 2 – 3 times a year to indulge in AMAZING BBQ here. Classic, welcoming and most importantly, delicious.

Never mind 5 guys… This place has incredible burgers, pulled pork and fries. A must place to visit. You will NOT be disappointed! I will be back!

Good job. My husband liked ribs very much. I thought the Mediterranean chicken salad was pretty good. The nice hostess traded the dressing I didn’t like. Chicken was quality. Could used lots more feta cheese. Skimpy. The only issue here is the smoke in the restaurant doesn’t seem like there is ventilation. I feel bad for cooks but not easy to do sit in either. I like the smell but it got to be too much. The stranger we happened to walk out with also mentioned the smoke and said the food was worth it but only as take out due to smoke. Hope they do something about that cuz we would like to return. Then I will go up to four or five stars.

This place is a hidden gem. Everything you want in good BBQ! Been all over the country and this is as good as BBQ gets. The prices are great, the ribs are WOW they are «I’M in rib heaven» good! About 45 min from my house, but we are going back real soon.

Wicked good food, buffalo chicken is awesome and also there ranch house fries! The menu has so much to chose from and the captions are pretty funny. The whole inside is awesome, from the picnic tables to the utensils in the grills. I recommend it to everyone, you won’t be disappointed !

This place is fantastic from the first time I walked in I loved the environment and the aroma. I ordered the Ribs and coleslaw. Incredible flavor and sauces. I also tried the chili and it was so good. I would recommended this place to every one I meet.

Found it by accident once and returned by chance. Stacked pulled pork sandwich is made even better adding slaw and banana peppers.

Place is awesome. Amazing chili great wings fresh baked cornbread. Pulled pork is so good and burgers are top notch. Staff is extremely friendly. Don’t know why this place has bad reviews as they are totally off the mark. I will continue to come here once a week!

This is a great spot! As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by the smell of smoked meats and burgers, just like a summer barbecue with all of your (taste)buds. Pulled pork is always tender. The burgers are thick, flavorful and cooked to order. I can go on and on! Joff, is a great guy and his staff are always willing to push the envelope all in the name of pleasing all of those taste buds!
