Giving 2 stars based on the fact that I was there at 6 on Tuesday 2⁄2. Tony was a very bad server, Forgot to bring us, water, plates, silverware, ranch dressing and this after having to ask him more than once. It wasn’t busy he was chatting it up with everyone. Bad customer service. There are basic skills and awareness he should have to be a server/waiter and he doesn’t have them. I asked for the owner/manager was told he wasn’t there, I think that’s the reason for his lack of caring. He can get away with it. People go out to eat to relax and enjoy themselves that was not our experience here. He dropped the bill and didn’t come back to get our credit card we waited an additional 15 minutes for him to stop talking and than one of the other coworkers pointed it out that we were trying to get his attention.

Really excellent food and service!!! I was even given a complimentary taste of their ribs and rib tips. The portions are so big that I had enough left over for the next day’s lunch.

Great BBQ& Customer Service. I have came here multiple times and I love the BBQ sauce that they put on the meats. However, I am not too enthralled about their side choices. It seems as if they put too much salt or sugar, but I am a typical soul food eater so that is just my opinion.

Amazingly delicious BBQ, soul food, home cooking. We love everything on the menu and we’ve had catering from them as well… Very large portions of food and finger licking good. Just dined in on Jan 18, 2016 and Lindsay was our server, she was great!

Hambone’s was awesome! A server called out and we were being served by the cook(she told us right away to bear with her), but I wouldn’t have guessed it was the cook! She was SOFRIENDLY and helpful! She was a better server than most servers I’ve encountered anywhere! We shared the three meat meal, and it was delicious and SOMUCHFOOD! It probably feeds three people, because we each had food for the next day. We had baby back ribs, the beef link(SPICY!) and the brisket. The brisket was my favorite! It was tender, and the bbq sauce was just right! Not too smokey, not too sweet, and the right amount of tang! We ordered drinks, a Hambone’s Tea(Long Island Iced tea) and a Cadillac marg. Neither tasted as they should. So I don’t recommend getting a drink. Focus on the food! The restaurant was clean, and it was busy for a Thursday night, but we didn’t wait long to be served, nor was the wait to receive our dinner long, even though I think the cook was doing double duty. I look forward to going back and trying other dishes!

My «10 minute wait» for my to go order somehow turned into 30 minutes waiting half my lunch break and the food wasn’t even edible, drowning in grease, so I waited half my lunch to essentially not be able to eat anything. Thanks Hambones

My news Chanel of choice I #ktla5. I was super excited to see a #Burrough’sbites close to home. Chris(Burroughs) told us about #hambonesbbq in Bellflower. Man ohhh man was Chris right! We had dinner tonight at Hambone’s.we waited about 40mins, the hostess was adorable, friendly and said the food was worth the wait. She was right!!! My son and I shared a full slab of pork ribs with three large sides. The most juicy, tender, zesty just plain amazing ribs I’ve ever had. The sides: amazing mac & cheese, bbq beans and corn bread. All that was under $ 40!!! we will definitely be back… even if we have to wait!

Awesome service, great food, fair prices and overall worth coming back to. This was my first time eating here and ham bone’s bbq is GREAT! Read their menu, when it says a meal can feed 2 – 3 people, they are serious about it. I order the half rack and baby back ribs and it looked like a full rack with a ton of meet on the ribs. I definitely recommend ham bone’s bbq.

Wow, this was a good lunch! A friend and I wanted to try something new and popped in. I had the 3 meat sampler lunch with tri-tip, pulled pork and brisket with sides of mac & cheese and spicy collard greens. The meat was tender in all three cases and the sides were off the chart especially the spicy collard greens. The greens were like eating crack for me. Just the right amount of sour and spicy. I will definitely be coming back here when I’m in the area. BTW…the wait staff were just as nice as they could be… so that is a double bonus these days!

We went here at the suggestion of a friend. We were immediately seated, this is when the fun begins. –It took 15 mins for the young man to take our drink orders. He brings the waters back while waiting on the drinks. Rule of thumb, bring all drinks from the bar together. He didn’t do that. –It took an additional 25 mins for our food to arrive and it arrived luke warm at best. We also ordered 4 extra dinner rolls that arrived without butter about 10 mins after our entrée. We asked for butter and had to remind the server. Overall, the food was good. Of course we didn’t finish our food and asked for boxes. I asked for separate containers for our beans and mac & cheese. He comes back with plastic containers, and only enough for one of our plates, but says«I’m not supposed to give you these because they are for to go orders only.» I replied, «This is about to go». So I ask another gentleman for some more and he says the same thing.(I simply asked for comtainers and could careless what rule you have and I’m spending close to $ 70!) So he brings them and at this point I have nothing more to say, but am ready to go but I’m waiting on my card back. We also had to ask for bags to carry our food out. I also had a peach cobbler to go which was stale as hell and peaches chewy. Great potential, needs to get on board with service especially charging the prices they do. One can go to across the street to Johnny Rebs and get much better service and all the to go containers you need with a bag!!! I won’t be returning any time soon…

Juicy, super tender BBQ brisket topped on steak fries. Juicy, yummy BBQ pulled pork on steak fries! Fried or awesomely flavored baked oysters! Fried shrimp and catfish. These are what comes to my mind whenever someone mentions Hambones because these are my regular orders when I come here. And every time my tummy is satisfied. I love how the taste and quality of their food is consistent and never disappoint. This is one of my fav BBQ places in Bellflower! I even had one of my birthday dinners here this year because it’s just that good! Did I mention kids tacos are just 2 for $ 1.99!!! Yes! Awesome since I have 2 but am usually toting around 3 lol. Saves me money for my yummies! Mommas like that(^_^) This cute little place is located in downtown Bellflower off Belmont st. It’s very convenient especially when we have a community celebrations or movie nights in the courtyards just outside the resturant. The resturant itself is clean and spacious with multiple tables as well as multiple bar seatings. Service I would say is a hit or miss depending on their moods but overall it’s still worth coming. There’s also heated patio seatings which is where we usually sit. WELOVEPATIOSEATING. Especially heated lol. I would definitely recommend this place.

Hear that dinner bell aringin’? Means it’s time to come arunnin’ for suppers being served! Tailgating means BBQ, brews and rowdy football fans. Well, at least down south. in Cali, hmm maybe not so much(tailgatin’ wise), but there’s still love for good homemade BBQ. Around here, it’s hard to find. I grew up in the area, so watching Bellflower blossom into a decent area with quite a few yummy joints, of course I’ve tried them all y’all! So let’s knock out Hambone’s 259th review! Hambones isn’t on Bellflower Blvd, like the majority of the eateries that have popped up here over the last 5 – 10 years. It’s actually on Belmont St, just off of Bellflower. The location is actually very nice, and has a great setup. The interior is nice and open, with plenty of seating. If you prefer to dine outdoors, they have a handful of small tables outside with those lovely outdoor heaters for the chillier nights. We only sit on the patio, so if you see us, say«hey!». It looks small on the outside, but considering they’ve hosted numerous large groups, I would say they can definitely handle large groups! Hmm, maybe i should check out the options. or party platters. anywhoooo… Several times we’ve come into to only a handful of tables being full, and some servers chatting or giggling away. but once they get busy, service gets to crackin! The servers here are friendly and helpful for he most part. I’ve inly had bad service twice and I’m pretty sure they were 100% new so I can kinda brush that under the table, but not completely. I think remember who ordered what is especially important in the serving world and I’m not a fan of having to swap around heavy and hot plates because it wasn’t delivered right the first time. But, the last few visits have been great, so I will leave it at that :) their servers are knowledgable about the menu, drinks and specials currently available — something else that I think servers should definitely know. They’re even great about bill splitting if you have a large group! I’ve only done that once, and it came back evenly separated across 7 people. How that’s even possible, idk because I’m horrid with math haha. The food, oh the food is quality American BBQ that takes you to this porky, finger-lickin’ heaven. my tummy is usually very happy after grubbin on some famous baby back ribs doused in a generous helping of sauce as they fall of the bone. Their tacos are also pretty amazing, my personal fave being the brisket. They also offer pulled pork and turkey, as well as the basics(shrimp/beef/regular chicken). I usually request no tomatoes and just have cheese and lettuce on the tacos, but lately they’ve just been putting waaaayyy to much lettuce and cheese. This is recent so it will hopefully change? I love that the tacos are reasonably priced(~$ 1.75) with a Taco Tuesday special as well. I haven’t been to that yet so. I’m not actually sure what the special is haha! I also appreciate that for the price, they are decently sized and not a puny portion of meat, but a nice hearty helping. I also really love the loaded fries. My lawd, I love fries and you want to top them with BBQ drenched brisket or pulled pork and. Stop there that’s all I need to want to order them! So yummy! The baby back ribs are one of my favorites. The sauce is so amazingly delicious and the meat — so tender and juicy, and it’s just fall of the bone, melt in your mouth wonderful. I’ve tried multiple other things, but my last few visits have included just ribs and brisket tacos. honestly though, the menu is all pretty delicious, and I haven’t had anything bad from Hambone’s yet, so that’s for sure a good sign! Oh, the hot links! Those are killer! Definitely get those okay? My sister and her hubs like to spilt the multiple meat platters as they can sample a variety of foods/sides, without going crazy on the price. Their multi-meat platters are well priced too, with the 3 meat option being around $ 26 I think, including 2 side options. So that’s not a horrible way to go if you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck! The location is clean, servers are usually really nice and the food is awesome. They also have a bar, and yes they totally host game nights during football season! How’s that for adding a little fuel to the fire to get you down to Hambones? Well, it’ll certainly get a few more guys interested in going! MNF, brews and American BBQ? Yeah hello, why wouldn’t you love it? Aside from football nights, the food and service has been good to me, and I do recommend Hambone’s to anyone looking to see what other BBQ joints are hidden here in Bellflower(^_^)

Ugh!!! So disappointed in the food here. Perhaps it was just an off day. I ordered a couple of tacos and a small side of cobbler, all to go. One of the tacos had a small hair in it. On top of that it seemed the grill wasn’t clean because the shrimp taco had tons of black bits in it from something they likely had just cooked. The peach cobbler wasn’t warmed up(maybe it was from last night and straight out the fridge??) and it was gross/burned or something. I couldn’t eat it so that was four bucks completely wasted(in the cobbler). On a positive note the staff is friendly and the inside is very clean and modern. It’s too bad that the food wasn’t up to par as I’m very disappointed. I really, really, REALLY wanted that cobbler.

With each and every visit thus far I have begun to love Hambones a little bit more. I grew up in this area and the entire time I lived here we never had any establishments such as this local to us(and I still don’t where I live now). As I have gotten older I have learned to appreciate more and more types of culinary cuisine but good old fashioned American BBQ never gets old and good BBQ is not always easy to find. Hambones has a nice open interior setup as well as several smaller tables on the small, heated outdoor patio and they seem to be very accommodating to larger parties. I have now been here on 4 separate occasions and each time the food has been excellent and the service for the most part has always been quite good as well. During my first and most recent visits, I decided to go with the Taco’s as they offer several great variations such as the brisket, turkey and pulled pork as well as your more basic beef, chicken and shrimp varieties. All tacos are topped with lettuce, cheese and tomato(often a bit too much) and their house salsa can be requested as well which they will bring out on the side(this definitely helped elevate the flavor in my opinion). I enjoyed each of the tacos I have tried but I did have a hard time differentiating between the chicken and turkey due to the sheer amount of lettuce and cheese which took over the flavors a bit. The brisket taco is by far my favorite with its tender meat and BBQ sauce but all of them were quite good overall. The tacos are normally $ 1.75 a piece but on Tuesdays(yes, they feature a Taco Tuesday) you can scoop them up for only $ 1(with the exception of the shrimp). A small group of us got together to try the tacos out and I think most of us let fairly impressed with the size and taste. On my other two visits I split a three meat plate and two side dishes and this I found was an excellent way to go if you want to sample multiple meats and sides at a bargain price. For $ 24.99 I tried the brisket, tri-tip and hot links along with macaroni & cheese and BBQ beans. All three meats were cooked nicely and had great flavor but the combination of flavor and heat on the hot links really stand out to me and have easily become my favorite. Both the brisket and tri-tip are very tender, juicy and flavorful as well so you really cannot go wrong with any of these choices. I will definitely look into getting the hot link dinner or buying these by the pound on a future visit as my meal, they are that good. Another major high point ere in my opinion is the quality of the mac n cheese. The mac n cheese here is pure heaven and is head and shoulders my favorite side dish among the ones I have tried, I highly recommend getting this. During three of my four visits Aaron was our server and he did an excellent job of making sure we had everything we needed. He is knowledgeable on the menu and even went so far as to split the checks for our most recent group of 5 and everything came back perfect without a hitch. Hambones does get awfully busy at times and the wait time for the food may be a bit hit or miss which is the only thing holding this back from a 5 in my opinion. Hambones is an easy 4.5 star BBQ joint in a small unassuming part of Bellflower. With quality food and service this is a great place to check out, I am a fan and look forward to returning again soon to get my grub on.

I’ve now been here few times, meeting fellow Unilocalers Steph H, Ryan P, Ben L, Steven C & Kenny G for dinner. I’m always game for some BBQ, so we met up here HOTTIP: 15% off with Unilocal check-in! Also $ 1 tacos on Taco Tuesday! SERVICE: This place is pretty busy, or was each time I’ve been there! Our server Alan did a good job of taking care of us and checking in later as well. Owner /partner Keenen stopped by our table to say hi and chat for a bit. First time I was here they didn’t have any handy-wipe-finger-towellette-things to clean up after getting«down with the Q». 2nd time I came here, they did have them! FOOD: 1st visit I went for the two meat combo(w/two sides) with brisket and pork ribs($ 19.25). Very, very tasty! Good smoke, tender, great flavor, yum! The sauce was a bit too sweet for me, had I known I would have asked for it on the side.
Both the collard greens and mac n cheese were really good. 2nd visit I had 4 tacos(chicken, shrimp, brisket and pulled pork). For $ 1 they are pretty big. Unfortunately the chicken & shrimp tacos were both flavorless, tasting only like lettuce, tomato & cheese. I also had the loaded fries w/brisket($ 8.50) and these were awesome! I took advantage of happy hour with a $ 3 Strawberry daiquiri as well. Yum! OVERALL: What more can I say about this place a number of others haven’t already said? It’s a nice spot for some really good«Q», plus you can get an adult beverage to wash it down with as well!

My heart is breaking and I could cry a river. (Review new location on bellflower) So I was back in LA for business and pleasure and my husband said what do you want for dinner on our last night. It was a no brainier Hambones all the way. We went to the original location the only one we have been too and it closed at 6(Sunday). So I noticed from Unilocal they had another location around the corner. The building and inside was super impressive, chic and comfortable. I was feeling the vibe and proud to see how far they came. The manager behind the bar told my husband that the original location had two owners and they split up and also split the recipes. He assured us it was the same great taste. Food Ribs-meat was super tender however all you could taste was liquid smoke and the grill. It left a weird after taste. Brisket-Super thin and dry, by this time I knew we were headed for trouble. Chicken-The most dry of them all so much so that the meat itself literally looked dry with a white cast over the pink flesh. Brisket tacos-Always my favorite but this time so dry. Usually they are dripping with BBQ sauce and you cant eat them without a mess, sorry guys don’t know what happened. Sides Potato Salad-Really solid if you like a lot of eggs this one is for you. Mac and cheese-Mushy, dry, and lacked creaminess and flavor. Collard greens-worst offenders, bland absolutely no seasoning and too much water. I am now stuck with over $ 55.00 worth of BBQ that we can’t eat. The original location I would pay the kings Ransome for that food. I commend them on the expansion and nice digs but sometimes a hole in the wall is best left as a hole. Now I have to fly back to Texas with a broken heart and a growling belly.

So I was hungry before Seester’s book club meeting commenced, and stumbled upon this place. I saw Hambone’s, and I saw Subway. I realized of course that the name of the restaurant meant that what was in store for me on the menu might be a disaster, but I thought«Challenge accepted!» I was just not feelin’ the Subway sammich. Now, by way of reference, I’m a pretty strict vegetarian that eats mostly vegan. Hambone’s sounded like, and was indeed, a barbeque joint. Easy-peasy, I can usually find something to eat on any menu, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I was greeted and seated very warmly, and I began to look over the menu. I found salads, fries, other sides that I could have made a meal of, and the lo and behold, the veggie burger caught my eye. Less than $ 10 for a burger and fries? Sign me up, baby! My delicious burger came with lots of perfectly tart pickle slices, and bun that fell apart, unfortunately(minus half a star for that) and a side of steak cut, perfectly crisp fries that were seasoned with this stuff that had a great little kick. Ketchup and a yummy remoulade came with the fries. I devoured my burger, paid my bill, and drooled at the smell of what was presumably brisket… hey, just cause I don’t eat it anymore doesn’t mean I don’t know a good smoked brisket when I smell one! Prices seemed reasonable on most everything, and I’m petty sure I’ll be back the night of the next book club. Service s supremely good, staff is very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Met up with Ryan P and Kevin B for a Tuesday night dinner and we all had a very good time. This was a Ryan P rec and she was right on! This is seriously good legit BBQ in a clean, pleasant setting. I got the 3 Meat Combo Platter(because I wanted leftovers) with hot links, brisket, and baby back ribs, accompanied by mac n cheese and collared greens. The ribs were tender and fall-off-the-bone but not all fatty; the hot links had a nice little bite, and the brisket was tender, if not the most tender brisket I’ve had. The mac n cheese was wonderfully cheesy with that baked crust, and the collared greens had good flavor, weren’t too mushy, and were even a little spicy, even though they weren’t the«spicy» greens. Overall an excellent BBQ meal, one that carried over into 2 – 3 days because of the giant portions. For $ 25, it’s an excellent value. My only teeny gripe might be that their BBQ sauce was a little too sweet for my taste, so I think I’ll just get it on the side next time with some hot sauce. The owner and the servers were all just lovely and I’m looking forward to my next visit, especially since it’s pretty close to my work. BTW, we noticed that EVERYONE else had ordered tacos, because it was Taco Tuesday! 99¢ tacos, apparently – will need to get in on that action next time as well!
