I never had high expectations for this place, but was thoroughly disappointed by their unethical behavior in my last visit. tl;dr — owner blatant overcharged us and tried to cover it up hoping we wouldn’t notice that she charged us higher prices than what’s listed on the menu(both online and printed). long story — We ordered a takeout of 2 dishes via phone, and expected a total in the low $ 20s from looking at their eat24 menu on Unilocal. When we picked up our order, the owner presented us with a bill of almost $ 30, and it’s one of those bills that only showed the total without listing out each item. I asked the owner lady if the bill was for 2 dishes, she confirmed and said rice was charged too. Sure, we paid and didn’t think too much and left. Then as we walked away, the calculation just didn’t add up, it would’ve implied the rice were at least $ 4 each. So we went back and asked the lady to double check the prices. This time, she said the prices online weren’t updated with the latest price increases, and she’ll refund the difference. Fine, at least she’s prompt about the refund. While she processed the refund, my bf looked at their menu and noticed the menu prices were exactly the same as online. So we asked her again why we were charged extra, this time she said new menus are getting printed«tomorrow». How convenient? Funny that customers were charged with«new prices» that aren’t listed in any of the restaurant menus. In the end, it’s not a lot of money to be mauling over, but it left a distaste in our mouths since the behavior is rather shady, and no matter how hungry we will be late at night, we wouldn’t give this place our business ever again.

My family has been coming to Toy’s since the 90’s and have always enjoyed the food. The fact they’ve made it over 20 years in Bellevue, is a testament to the food. It’s great as the local hole in the wall when you just want Chinese food. The menu has all the favorites and they also have a small bakery with cakes, pastries and buns. I don’t know if I’d say they do anything the best, but the food is certainly enjoyable. Their take out dinner combination plates are an excellent value. They come with soup, bbq pork, spring roll and an entrée + rice. It’s easily 2 meals worth of food for around $ 10.00. Great location & plenty of parking.

Came here for lunch one day with some co-workers. I honestly didn’t know there was a Hong Kong style café in downtown Bellevue until I came here. I thought most of them were located in downtown Seattle in Chinatown. My first impression was that they had great deals. For lunch they have specific lunch specials which include an entrée with your choice of white rice or fried rice. The food itself wasn’t anything spectacular, very average for a Cantonese style restaurant. But for the price it was a great deal. Overall, pretty happy with this lunch decision and I think I’d definitely come back for lunch again.

We ordered take out. Food was not bad but not very good either. A bit overpriced. Evidently they had a significant price increase last year. I recommend Toy’s Chinese restaurant. They’re comparable in quality, lower in price, and just over a block away. COOLTIP… There is an outlet to the street behind the XO(114th Ave SE). Gives quick access to the Red Lion, Hilton Hotel, and the Residence Inn by Marriot. Great way to avoid traffic :-).

Headline: Try their bakery Food:(Chinese menu) Pretty good selection of «authentic» Chinese food. Their beef brisket is really good. Some other noodles dishes are pretty good too. Their Chinese bakery items are very good. My friend said that their cake is awesome, but I haven’t tried. Service: Friendly and attentive. Food came out in reasonable time, not quick. Interior: Reasonably clean, but not shiny … just like most Chinese restaurants. Value:(Chinese menu) Most dishes are under $ 12, and you can even find some under $ 10. About $ 20 – 25 for 2 people after tax and tips.

The fried chicken wing is such a deal! nine or ten fully flavored chicken wing for only $ 8! I also love their pan fried mixed vegetable and the stir fried sha cha sauce beef slice with ho fun! this place is the most affordable yet good restaurant in the center of Bellevue!

Have followed them from several locations on the Eastside. Food is fine but their staff is so hit or miss. Practically have to beg a few times for water. The chick in the glasses freaks out when it’s a full house but their saving grace is the lady owner. Potstickers are always good and consistent — wish their waitstaff was better.

Girls night out. We ordered Mongolian beef and house special soup to share. Everyone gets served tea, if you want water you have to ask for it. The same goes for forks, everyone is served chopsticks. House soup has– beef, chicken, shrimp and veggies. Good if you are low carb. A little on the bland side. Mongolian beef is a decent portion and come with either fried or steamed rice. Our steamed rice had a red tint to it that kinda looked like blood. Which brought up a discussion amongst the table. We ended up just eating it anyway. It also comes a little on the spicy side so if you don’t want spice be sure to mention when you order to leave out the spicy peppers. The steamed rice was a little on the dry side and the soy sauce added a little flavor and moisture to it and was a welcome addition. I’m surprised how busy this restaurant was for the food that it serves. Maybe I’m a little spoiled coming from Alaska which I believe has some of the best Chinese food(Americanized Chinese food) ever. :-)

This place was recommended by a friend of mine and I enjoyed the food. Service was quick during lunch and overall the food was very good. Most of all i got out of downtown Bellevue for lunch under 20 bucks for 2 people. If you order the soup and want some flavor order the spicy one and you can tell them how spicy you want it.

The service was definitely better this time. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had the Peking Duck this time and had to wait over 30 minutes for it. The rest of the meal was delayed as well because they didn’t want us to finish everything else before the duck was ready. Their tip: call in and order it before you get there. Everything else was ok.

Monday is Chinese food day. One of my favorite restaurants in Bellevue is Toys café. I’ve been going there for over 15 years, obviously I like it. There is a lunch menu, but they have also a more extensive dinner menu, which you may order from anytime. I have many favorites, from the beef noodle soup, to their dumplings and pot stickers, to oil change noodles! Yes Oil Change Noodles, you read it right. Actually it is called: Ground pork brown sauce over noodles. One day my American friend came with me to have lunch. I ordered the food in Chinese. Once the sauce was thoroughly mixed, my friend said: This sauce looks so dark, just like oil change noodles! I said yes! And it is my favorite!

We accidentally came across this place while we were looking for a Szechuan restaurant. We were hungry, so we decided to give a try. Afterwards, I regret paying $ for the food. Most of our food was blanketed with by veggies and you were luck to find meat in your dish. I think the best dish was the white rice, but the rice wasn’t that great either. That said, my expectations for Chinese food may have been too high. Next time, I’ll go to Panda Express. I recommend trying it out yourself, but temper your expectations and don’t expect too much. Definitely, share your experience with other Unilocalers.

This is my go to place for home-style, Cantonese comfort food. Though I am a white guy, I grew up with tons of it in LA, an so often need a fix, that this place delivers. They also have nice little bakery up front, to get the basics. Red Bean and Coconut toast bread, swiss rolls, spoung cake cones, etc.

Pretty tasty food, got the king Pai chicken and sour veggie noodle soup. Both came out fast and hit the spot. Will definitely be back Yang

Went in for their beef noodle soup. Delicious to eat when you’re craving it. But beware, you might want a glass of water next to you. :) Their read bean buns are really good too. Might have to eat through the bread before you can eat the delicious red bean paste though. Server was kind and attentive.

I ordered the stir fry shanghai rice cakes and they were very tasty, almost as good as how they make it at Ding Tai Fung. The place is ok looking, when we walked in, they were rushing us to order our lunch. The waiter came by twice asking. Its good and bad in a way, like give us a few minutes, but if you are in a rush and know what you want, its a good thing. lol Anywho, if I want my rice cake fix, and don’t want to go all the way to DTF, I will definitely be coming back here for it.

My parents, brother and I got takeout for dinner. We ordered a baked pork bun, a ham and cheese bun and a slice of Black Forest cake from the bakery. The buns were wrapped in plastic and obviously didn’t come straight out of the oven, but they held up ok after a microwaving, especially the ham and cheese. The Black Forest cake was not what I had hoped for; I was expecting rich chocolate but instead the cake was bland and spongy. From the restaurant we ordered the Malaysian street noodles, beef chow fun, honey walnut shrimp, sesame chicken and broccoli beef. The chow fun was excellent, flavored with plentiful black pepper and covered in a light gravy. This is the dish I would be most likely to come back for. The sesame chicken was very run-of-the mill Americanized Chinese food, like something you would find at a Panda Express. The Malaysian street noodles were a bit dry for my liking, but had good curry flavor. The honey walnut shrimp were standard fare, though the portion was a little on the small side for the price. The biggest miss out of everything was the broccoli beef. The veggie to meat ratio was too high, and the veggies had all of their flavor steamed out. The sauce was too bland to salvage the dish.

I had heard so many great things about this place but sadly my experience was sub par starting from the service and ending with the food. We waited for about 15 minutes to be seated when eventually us and another group just sat ourselves. There were multiple tables open and a waiter who kept walking in and out of the kitchen but he never came over to seat people that were waiting. It wasn’t very busy at the time either. After that we waited about 10 – 15 minutes to order and another 30 – 40 minutes to get food. When the food finally came I felt the dishes were just okay. I think they could’ve been made better with more flavor and bigger portions. Another thing that I disliked was that there was a cold vent blowing constantly. Everyone in the restaurant were wearing their jackets. I sympathize with the owners because they definitely seemed short handed but their lack of attention to the customers was just not acceptable.
