I ordered the Asian sandwiches and an omelette, The puff sandwich was OK the sauce was way too sweet and just did not blend well, The omelette was disgusting it had a nasty gelatin goo on top we ended up throwing it away

My first experience here was not good. Overcrowded restaurant, decent food, not very good service. I did not go back for months. However, one of my friends loves this place and wanted to come by for takeout so I agreed. I have to say. Takeout is a MUCHBETTER experience. Get the spicy pork over rice and the Taiwanese pork bun. Both at a great price and SUPERYUMMY. I would definitely consider myself a return customer. I’ve been back at least 2 – 3 times in a two week span. I would not recommend eating in, it’s always crowded. However, get takeout. SOGOOD! :)

Ever since that whole tax thing, their portions have become increasingly smaller :( My two fav things: Pork strew rice and popcorn chicken(which are both still good). although the last time we ordered popcorn chicken, it literally came out right after he put in the order and it was cold. so pretty sure it was an extra order they had sitting around. Please stop cutting your portion sizes just to help pay back your back taxes .V.

First time eating Taiwanese food! I loved the five-spice fried chicken and the twice-cooked five-spice beef shank. So good.

The braised pork stew over rice is bomb, and it’s my go-to dish every time I come here. Their teas are also decent, and they have a nice selection of shaved ice too. This place is definitely worth a try, and I’ll usually bring visiting friends here at least once. Overall, it’s one of the better and more popular Taiwanese restaurants on the Eastside. The only downsides are the long wait times and finding parking during peak hours.

Food is phenomenal! Probably my favorite Asian restaurant on the east side. I’ve probably ordered all the dishes by now at least once, and I can’t think of a single one I did not like. The wait lines look intimidating, but it moves pretty quickly, especially the tables for 2. The only downside to this place is parking. There is NEVER any parking there. If they solved the parking problem I would be there all the time on a whim.

The wait is the biggest problem here. They will only take reservations for parties of 6 or more. I also secretly suspect that there is favoritism going on here because the people they seem to know get tables faster than the rest of us. The food is good. The pork burger of course. Anything pork on the menu is good. The rest of the entrees while good are overpriced and portions are small but that doesn’t stop me from coming back. I just usually do takeout now. The drinks are solid and have a good variety as well. The shaved ice is solid. This is my favorite Taiwanese place though I don’t think there is too much competition.

Authentic to the max, I’m coming back to try everything else on their menu. Got the egg tofu w/mixed veggies and pork(10.95 $), oyster pancake(7.95 $), sweet and sour spare ribs(12.95 $), everything shaved ice(small for 6.95 $). Best part of the first dish was definitely the egg tofu that was sweet and hearty and went perfectly over rice. Oyster pancake had these huge pieces of oyster in it, but wished there were more than just a few throughout. Sweet and sour spare ribs were like micro pieces that were mostly bone. It was as if they ran out and these are the leftovers chopped off the main pieces. The shaved ice was amaaaaaazing though, with generous amounts of jelly, boiled peanuts, red bean, green beans and some heaven poured on.

Very popular place with authentic Taiwanese food. There is always long line at the door waiting for table so arrive early. Nothing fancy. The dishes provided here are common Taiwanese street food like meat covered rice, noodle soup, but carefully prepared. The flavor is authentic and well balanced. For those who came from Taiwan, this is hearty comfort food for them. For me, the most impressive dish is the shaved ice. Layers and layers of ice, red bean, syrup piled up in a big bowl. Very visually satisfying dessert.

Visited Microsoft campus and came up on this restaurant nearby … Taiwanese Pork burger… great fatty pork belly slices with preserved vegetables between mantou buns smothered in crunchy peanut sweet sauce…4 stars Pork stew over rice…4 stars Oyster pancake… highlight of our meal, even my husband, who doesn’t usual enjoy this dish, loved it! Nice pieces of oysters wrapped in crispy crêpe like pancake, with Chinese Napa Cabbage, gooey rice gluten, and eggs drizzled in savory orange sauce…5 stars Sweet & sour spare rib… crispy, bone in, manageable pieces of pork spare rib… slightly more on the sour side with onions, bell peppers, and pineapple…4 stars Service was fast and friendly, refilled water often. Quality Taiwanese joint that stands up against any found in San Gabriel valley. (Written by husband)

I always love this restaurant. Delicious food and fast service. I feel satisfied when I leave. We went there around 5pm and the wait hadn’t started yet. We ordered beef wraps, five spice fried chicken, pork belly burgers(must try), braised pork over rice and noodle with garlic oil. Five spice fried chicken was juicy but some pieces were overcooked. Pork belly burgers were phenomenal as always. The flavors of fatty belly were marinated so well and tender. I also ordered their matcha smoothie with red bean. It was a little bit sweeter than I expected but still tasted great. We were thinking about the shaved ice but got too full in the end. It is a great restaurant on my go-to list when I crave Taiwanese food!

Smaller place that we thought it would be. Has traditional round tables for larger groups. Food comes out in waves. Pork burgers: Were definitely worth trying. Pork was soft and almost melt in your mouth consistency. There are pickled veggies inside as well – adds a nice tang and crunch. Pumpkin with salty egg: was good too – just the right amount of salt. They use Kombucha pumpkins. This was my favorite dish. Best eaten as a side dish. Five spice beef wrap: sauce was sweeter than expected, but still pretty good. Dried tofu, seaweed, fermented egg: tasty! Will definitely order it again! Fermented egg isn’t what you think – it’s not that black century egg stuff. It’s just hardboiled eggs that have been soaked in soysauce and then cut. Seaweed had a nice texture and taste – high quality and didn’t reek of that«fishy» smell. Dried tofu is basically a denser tofu that’s slightly chewy, which is my favorite!

I just have to say — I’ve been meaning to try this place for a LONG time. Everyone I’ve talked to have said this place serves legit Taiwanese food, and boy were they right! I’ve had great Taiwanese food in LA, and I go back to Taiwan frequently, so I know what it’s supposed to taste like. And to be very honest, this place is spot on in terms of food quality and style. I typically come on weekends since that’s when I’m free. They open at 11 am and I highly recommend you come right when they open as there’s always a huge gathering of people fighting for a table number. Get a spatula(rice cooker spatula that’s wooden) with a number on it and wait your turn. I ordered the gua bao(Taiwanese pork bun) which was delicious! It has fatty pork it in, cilantro, mustard greens, and toasted sesame sprinkled over it. Each one is $ 3.95, and it’s basically a little appetizer! They cut each one in half for you to share! Beef noodle soup — yum! Their soup is soothing and pretty sweet. But don’t despair of you want something spicy! They give you a platter with spice if you need it! Great flavor and you can choose from wife or thin noodles, both are great and it’s really up to personal preference! Sesame noodles — you’ll need to mix this up but very good! Great flavor and a lot of sauce builds up on the bottom so beware! They serve this hot, some places you can choose so just a tip. 5 spice beef wrap — pretty plain in my opinion, I wouldn’t order this again. It’s just cold meat with cucumber wrapped in a green onion pancake. Service: terrific service, they kept coming to make sure our water glasses were filled! Although when it gets busy, it may be harder to flag down your server. Overall, it’s REALLY cheap. For all this(which filled and stuffed 4 people, came up to $ 48 or $ 12/person before tip. I love this place!

It’s like this — the food is still really terrific. The service is good. The ambiance is good. But you know what is awful? Business owners evading the taxes they should be happy to pay. 490K in taxes over a couple of years? And that is just an estimate! Imagine how much she actually stole from the rest of us. Poor thing. I’m sure she was really struggling, and she had to cheat on her obligations just to feed her starving kids, right??? I have gotten a couple of nasty comments here about my review. If you are happy giving your business to an already very successful tax cheat — knock yourself out! Don’t call me names because we are different opinions please. Tax cheats hurt all of us.

The food is authentic classic Taiwanese cuisine and a great find for anyone who has spent considerable time in Taiwan, China, or other parts of Asia; however, Facing East is also a little forgettable … Like I seriously forgot to write a review after eating here. Luckily, you(and me) can check out my pics on Unilocal and Instagram for a reminder of the Taiwanese tastes at Facing East. I was also lucky to try Facing East family-style with three Chinese so we could share more of the authentic food and fantastic flavors. Check out some of my pics for a mouth-watering temptation. * Taiwanese Pork Burgers Distinct Preserved Veggies and Braised Pork in a Milk Bun * Soy Flavored Chicken Bone-in Chicken served hot in a pot with a thick Soy-based Sauce * Braised Seaweed, Dry Tofu, and Preserved Eggs Great plate for sharing as an appetizer or a part of the meal * Haaka Style Chow Fun Thick Noodles tossed with Green Onions & Crispies * Spiced Pork Stew over Rice Simple, but so yummy; Perfect for a one person lunch * Pumpkin with Salty Egg This was the table favorite with Pumpkin sauteed with Egg * Braised Pork Hock Classic cold dish; Add Ginger, Cilantro, & Sauce to taste When you are faced with a decision on where to get Chinese food in Bellevue, choose Facing East for some authentic and tasty food.

I love this place! Food: The pork belly burgers are a no-brainer. The beef noodle soup is yummy but messy. The braised pork stew over rice is delicious. The fried rice with Chinese sausage and dried tiny shrimp was tasty. However, you always smell like the food when you leave. The smell of the food doesn’t leave your clothes, which is one of my biggest pet peeves. Drink: The matcha milk tea without tapioca was good, but it didn’t come in a cool glass as if you ordered it with tapioca. Kinda disappointing. Service: The waiter was nice enough, but I couldn’t always hear him. This might not be entirely his fault, as I am not great of hearing. However, he was quite quiet as well. He was nice to me, probably because I spoke English and I was there with my caucasian boyfriend. He has waited on me and my friends in the past, and he was not so nice to me back then, probably because they all spoke Taiwanese Mandarin and I spoke English like an ABC. For the record, I can speak Mandarin(not Taiwanese Mandarin, but not obnoxious stereotypical Beijing Mandarin either), I’m just not so great at it and I’m embarrassed. Waiting: We waited for maybe 10 minutes for a table at 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday in December. We hardly waited for our orders to be taken or for our food to arrive or for our check to be delivered. Payment: I believe they take American Express. Overall: Delicious food, almost couldn’t finish it all. This place needs better ventilation so the patrons don’t leave smelling like Chinese food.

The pork burgers are the best I’ve ever had and the food all has a very Taiwanese spice taste. I recommend this place if you are craving authentic Taiwanese food and have money to spend because it stacks up really fast. The food is family style and the lines get crazy so get here early or plan to wait.

I love newish places… Well it was new to me. Facing East seems pretty authentic. I like the dishes on the menu because they remind me of good olé home cooking. The short ribs are good, the eggplant was nice, the fried chicken very tasty. The lines are long so make sure you show up at a non peak hour time. If you don’t mind waiting 40 mins to get a table show up as you please. The milk tea’s are ok, they are fresh but lacked any high notes. Everything else was definitely delicious.

Amazing Taiwanese food. Everything is delicious! Expect a long wait though unless you come right before closing or a weird eating time. Have been here a few times and I have never not liked anything that was ordered. The pork buns are as delicious as everyone says. Must try! It is so good and addicting. Some of the other dishes I’ve tried and loved include: the bamboo shoots and salted egg, the shrimp rolls, the eggplant, the Sha cha lamb and veggies and the braised beef. Everything is great, you can’t go wrong really.

Ok, I love this restaurant. Why can’t there be more like these restaurants in the South bay or Bay area. This restaurant offers Taiwanese food. I heard about this restaurant from my friend, Eric L. He told me that I had to eat there. Fortunately, I did try it… but I ate there like 3x. Hahaha. Gosh, the people next to us ordered some good food too. Dammit, I can’t order everything on the menu. :/Ok, so here’s what we had when we ate there. Pork burgers– comes with 2. I ate a lot of these when I was growing up. The radish does help finish it off. Beef noodle soup-I ate this when I was growing up too. I remember my grandma making it. Gosh, it was perfect since it was cold outside. Shrimp & veggie pancake-it’s actually perfect. Good amount of veggies & shrimp. Pork with rice bowl-rice bowl with minced pork on rice. Tasty. Garlic green beans-tasty and crunchy. Heard that there are other places are better. I thought it was pretty good. Milk tea-just the right sweetness Citrus tea-like how my friend’s mama makes it(that’s what she said). :) I will be back!!! :)
