The only reason I’m scoring this place so low is due to their lack of menu availability. This place has been known for years for their champurrado and Churros but they always run out. I don’t understand why they can’t make enough. They have a second location down the street and it’s easy for them to say to go there but as a customer that is not convenient. During this season they should be more prepared as it’s the season for champurrado and Churros. Being in Bussiness so long they should know better. Within a week and a half both times I’ve gone by they’ve ran out, and both times I’ve gone by are before 10:00am.

I was planning on going to Portos, but the line was out the door and I didn’t want to deal with the long lines. So I checked Unilocal and saw this place. Friendly customer service. Carmen helped me and made my churros. She was nice and informative of what they make. The cakes looked delicious. But I only came for the churros. They were really good.

Churros and churros rellenos, need we say more? Get ‘em fresh and hot in the morning! Genuinely polite cashier lady, old school. Haven’t tried their 3 leches cake, but will eventually. Limited parking.

Horrible service at this place!!! I have given them more than one opportunity to have my business but they fail every time. I made an order for churros early in the morning to make sure they would have it on time because they are very bad so I thought, okay if I pre-order and pay it in advance and then give them 6 hours to make them it would be more than sufficient time, well they did it again I went there and my order isn’t ready btw not the first time this happens to me or other customers, hate this place I am just mind blown on how they are still in business.

Churros are 0.50 each! These churros aren’t small at all. They’re the size of the ones they sell at concession stands. They also sell churro rellenos which is churros filled with chocolate, cream, vanilla or guava for $ 1.50. The churros are warm and covered in cinnamon sugar. Texture is good but just a bit hard. not as soft and fresh like what I’m used to. But it is better than what you can find at amusement parks and WAY cheaper. Parking here is TERRIBLE. Only 3 – 4 spots and you basically have to go in and back out the entrance to exit.

Love the cakes. It just sucks that you order with time and your cake isn’t ready. Pick up time was suppose to be at 12 and it is now 1:50 and the cake is not ready. Such a pain in the button when you have a million more things to do.

I have a client who’s about a half of a mile from Lucero’s. Before every visit I stop in and get a dozen or so Churro. They are hands down THE best I’ve ever had.

If your looking for a churro then this is the place to get it… but if what you want is cake then don’t bother. I came to buy a last minute birthday cake, I asked the guy in the register to help me choose the best cake. He didn’t want to help me much so I guess that’s why he sold me an overpriced tres leches cake with no filling just the bread… it tasted really bad that we didn’t even finish our slice. I guess that’s what I get for buying last minute cakes:/

Everything from the cake the sweet bread and Churros are delish! They also have cajeta(caramel) filled Churros which are really sweet and good. I always pick up some churros for work when it’s breakfast Fridays and it makes everyone’s day!

My husband and I have been coming here for 15 years at least. The churros are big, sugary, crunchy and warm. This place always has a line. The other deserts that we’ve had that are great are the milk jello cups. They are sweet and have the perfect firmness. The only reason I have it 3 stars is because you have to wait soo long to get your order taken and to get your churros. I will keep coming back but only if I’m really craving churros.

Chuuurrrrrrrrrrooossss hehehe. Soooo yummmmyyyyy! New location… if you have bigger orders, make sure you call ahead of time, so that they will be prepared. But they have other cakes and stuff too. Would definitely go back to try out their other stuff.

So we have been having to go to Lucero Café because our favorite churro place is out of commission for the time being. We are not sure what happened, but now we have to get our Churros here. The place is cute and we recently bought a tres leches cake with nuts, it was freakin delicious! I was also really excited that during my most recent check-in, I got a 5% coupon — gotta love Unilocal. The only complaint I have of this place is the parking. I am not sure what the architects were thinking here, but for the churros and the cake, you make it happen! Enjoy.

Yummylicious churros! Wow only 40 cents! Amazing especially cus they are pretty big. I also got flannd cheesecake which are both yummy too, But nothing is as tasty as the churros and I still cat believe what a bargain, a hidden gem, will definetly make this a regular place for me!

$ 3.25 for a large«Mexican Mocha» and $ 0.75 for a mango empanada(turnover)… As much as I REALLY want to help businesses that are trying to bring quality to my part of town — Southeastern Los Angeles(Bell, South Gate, Downey, Huntington Park, Bell Gardens, etc.) — I have to be honest. My first experience at Lucero Café was less than ideal. I came in early and it was empty. I asked if they had a Mexican Mocha or something similar and the guy at the counter said they did. HOWEVER, they use a «Mexican Chocolate» SYRUP… The syrup does its job well enough but still it’s just not the same. I really hope they start using real Mexican Chocolate when their business is more prepared to sell quality drinks. I mean they are owned by Lucero Bakery which has an enormous reputation in my part of town. The guy at the counter made a BIG mistake today. He immediately bagged the empanada instead of asking me if I wanted it to go. I mean, they have tables here. I actually wanted to eat and drink my stuff here. Helloooo! I didn’t say anything. The empanada was very tasty. Nice and tangy. Great consistency in the bread. HOWEVER, the filling seems über artificial. Disappointing. It has a dayglo orangey color and looks like milky jello. I’m used to natural fillings at Mexican panaderias. Don’t expect nice chunks of mango in your empanadas here :( They also sell tortas. There are chips and they also sell cakes which I am sure are as good as those at Lucero Bakery. So I noticed that there is a big Marilyn Monroe Picture here. I began to wonder if Lucero was now some mean old queen that took over the businesses from the original CHIVA loving owners haha!!! Marilyn replaced the CHIVAS posters they used to have at the bakery… horribly enough… I asked the guys what happened to all the CHIVAS paraphernalia they used to have at Lucero Bakery. I found out the owners are the same. They told me that a CHIVISTA and an americanista(fans of Mexico’s two most popular soccer teams) were about to get into a fight when one asked the other to take his shirt off. I assume it was the americanista that started it because they have been losing to CHIVAS of late. Who knows? So the owners took all the CHIVAS stuff down because it became too controversial. LAME!!!
