I’m in solid«like» with this place. It took a while for anyone to notice us, but when they did, service was very friendly. We both got normal meals, burgers and wings, and everything was pretty OK. Garlic parmesan wings were dry and not great. Burgers were pretty good but nothing stood out. I don’t think I’d go out of my way to come back, but if you like to stick on the safe side for your meals, this place is very accommodating.

We went on a Saturday for dinner. We are looking to move to Belchertown and were house hunting. My Texas burger was fine and pretty good. My wife ordered the prime rib which was actually raw and had to be sent back. Still raw when it came back. The knife was not sharp enough to cut the meat and asked for another knife and told they didn’t have one!!! Good local place, just don’t order the prime rib!

I had the honey BBQ wings and a basket of fries. The wings had a perfect kick and the fries were super crispy. So far the best wings I have had. It was loud but what do you expect for a pub. In the end it was good food.

This place is the heart of B’town. Pub food is good and we love the homemade potato chips. Revolving monthly cocktail menu is a nice new addition. By far the best thing about this place is the atmosphere. We always see a familiar face and are made to feel right at home.

The food used to be great, I don’t know what happened. They’ve changed their menu within the past year and it is noticeably lower quality and some stand-bys that I always ordered(like eggplant fries!) are gone. I gave it a couple of tries before I resolved that I’m not going to eat here anymore. It’s a shame because it’s a nice place to hang out.

I LOVE McCarthy’s PUB!!! Double baked wings and a cold Beer, life doesn’t get any better. I always have a good meal, try the fish and chips. True Irish Pub not a bar, families and friend meet here.

Family has been coming here for years so when I moved to the area in February it was a must try. Let’s just say I haven’t been disappointed since. The food is outstanding. If you like burgers I recommend the leprechaun burger with a side of the bayou sauce and curly fries. But what I’ve been most impressed with is their pizza. Before«the pub» I frequented the chain pizza places that shall not be named, but since February that has been a thing of the past. Try the buffalo chicken pizza, my favorite, or even just a pepperoni and cheese — you can’t go wrong!!! I gave the pub 5 stars because not only is the food outstanding, but the staff are some of the friendliest and most welcoming individuals I have ever met. Keep it up!!!

A group of us go out for a weekly motorcycle ride on Monday nights, and this week we ended up by the Quabbin, so we decided to stop in here. It looked fairly busy, but we decided to take our chances. We arrived at 7:45 pm, and our presence wasn’t even acknowledged until 8:00. The waitress took our drink order, and was back in about 15 minutes with our drinks. I decided to try the McCarthy’s mixer drink special which was supposed to be Knob Creek maple bourbon with cranberry. She came back a few minutes later and informed me that they had run out of the maple, but that she could substitute regular knob creek. I hemmed and hawed for a moment and said I’ll try it. Wasn’t terrible, but I normally drink my bourbon neat or on the rocks depending what bourbon it is. I wasn’t informed that there would be an upcharge for the substitution, had I been made aware of this I would’ve just gotten my bourbon the way I like it. As for the rest of our drink order, The mixed drinks were sub-par, and the draft beer was flat. The DJ came over and asked if we were there for trivia, so we decided to play(I’m a huge trivia buff so it’s hard to say no). 25 minutes went by, and the waitress still hadn’t come back for our food order. We helped ourselves to peanuts and popcorn because by this point we had already been there an hour. Our table ordered a plethora of appetizers(chicken tenders, Fried mac and cheese bites, cheesy garlic knots, fried mozzarella, curly fries, and a Reuben egg roll), a wrap, and a pulled pork sandwich. We waited another 40 minutes for the food, which was decent, save for the Reuben egg roll, which was absolutely terrible. Even though we were tied for first for trivia we didn’t want to be there any longer than necessary; we paid our check and left as the last round of trivia was commencing. Altogether wasn’t an overly pleasant experience, someone had mentioned that there was a new Pizza Hut that had just opened up the street and we left remorseful that we hadn’t decided to pay for our drinks and eat there.

We stopped here for burgers they were wonderful charbroiled and deliciously cooked to our liking. Hand cut fries were great and also the sweet potato fries were wonderful. My garden salad tasted great seems like fresh homemade blue cheese dressing.

We have stopped before and had decent burgers– I had Cobb Salad that was gross! The lettuce was rotten, «pink» tomatoes(c’mon its summer– how about FRESH produce???) cold rubbery bacon and chewy, burnt chicken… if we weren’t in a hurry I would have sent it back… ALSO– Waitress– please DONOT keep refilling drinks unless we request! The Sheperds Pie was corn and ground beef??? gross…

Every time I drive through Belchertown I stop in for a beer and a bite. I’m always treated like family, the staff remembered my name the second time I ate there! The food is home cooked pub fair, and far better than you would expect from the average bar and grill. The hand cut fries are a win, and the fish and chips is easily the best in the valley. The owner is usually working the bar! You can’t find places like this anymore, it’s a special kind of place that is a must if you’re passing through, and definitely worth a special trip.

Ugh… well I live in Belchertown and sometimes I have to go there if I want to meet up with friends. Didn’t turn out good… again. This time I got a small like pin object stuck in my throat. That’s not the bad part… well I did go to the emergency room to jave it removed, although the bad part is management didn’t even offer to buy my meal… that’s how you lose business. …at least mine!

This place is a hidden treasure! Stopped for lunch and could not have been more pleased. Delicious home cooked, tender pastrami on fresh rye with a perfect amount of sauerkraut. yum! Fantastic selection of beers and coctails and the waitress turned out to be the owner herdelf. She was very friendly and welcoming and was willing to provide us with anything needed to make our visit a good one.

Monday night trivia is a lot of fun at McCarthy’s. Beer and drinks are reasonably priced, waitstaff is great and super friendly. pizza, fries, and ruben are very good. I ordered a burger once and it was over cooked, granted it was super busy and it’s amazing that they can feed everyone in the place with the very small kitchen.

atmosphere is great, nice place to stop after a bike ride. tough getting served and then once served, you don’t see the waitress again until you wait and wait and wait for the bill, the French fries were soaked in oil and had a burnt oil taste. we also ordered, potato skins, after showing a different waitress our plate of rotten potatoes she said oh there just burnt. No sweetheart they were rotted. 6 against one,. we did eat here 2 years prior and the food was good, did you change cooks? wait staff?

This is simply a local pub in a small town that is a comfortable place to go in, watch some sports on the big screen, grab a bite of pub food or irish fare, and and a decent selection of beer. I have eaten here a few times, mainly burgers, and wraps, and had the Guinness Brats yesterday, which were excellent. Disappointed in being served cold garlic mashed, though. It wasn’t enough to bring me down. They used fresh green beans, which is good in a pub(usually you get canned garbage in most places!). A friend ordered the prime rib special, which he was more than happy with. During the summer a lot of bikes stop here as it is right on 202 which is a popular route for motorcycles(which is the reason I stop here as well). Waitstaff are always friendly with a smile. Reasonable prices for what you get.

Thirty years in business does count for something, unfortunately it has not done anything for their food or service. The service can be hit or miss. There are a few servers who can be a real drag to have wait on you. The food really isn’t good at all. I wish there was something good to elaborate on, but there isn’t. When you are the only game in town what incentive do you have to improve?

This is a local hot spot for my main-squeeze in his hometown of Belchertown, Mass., and I’ve been here a couple of times now on trips to see the family. It is a very standard Irish Pub that serves standard pub fare… but I must give major props to their wings. Seriously, those wings are a knockout. Other highlights for me are the local bands they have come rock out(serenade?) us patrons, and the unlimited free popcorn available. Great(cheap!) prices on drinks, and friendly servers.

McCarthy’s is a pleasant bar for the most part. The servers and bartenders take the time to get to know you. Food is surprisingly good, especially the seafood. Beer is cheap, cocktails on the pricey side. A double vodka drink costs at least 10 bucks, which is kind of a shock in Belchertown. Similar drinks in Amherst or Northampton are generally $ 6 – 8. Sometimes the crowd gets a little strange when you have families with small children mingling with the rowdy drunks. Other than that it’s your basic small-town Irish pub, with better-than-average bar/comfort food. Cheers!
