Love coming here every time. Somewhere between a luxe treat and necessary maintenance for me but I leave happy every time and love that the owner is a local gal too!

All I can say is that I absolutely love this place! Jessica is a superstar! She is Absolutely, an amazing hair dresser! I have long, thick hair and Jessica always can make my Blo outs perfect! I highly recommend Blo! Monday’s & Tuesdays are only $ 30 for beautiful blowouts that last for several days!!!

Worst experience ever. Made an appointment two weeks ago after a great blowout from Jessica for an event today. Walked in 5 minutes early for appointment and was told by Amanda that it was no longer with Jessica because she had another request. Um, what? Amanda then said that I confused and spent the next 10 minutes refusing to admit that any scheduling error was made on their part. She actually said that appointments are not guaranteed with any stylist. Ok, if that’s the case, why take appointments? Jessica told Desi who they dumped me with how to do the blowout before I arrived at salon so clearly, she was mistakenly double booked. Why not simply say exactly that rather than lying and making the customer feel like shit. This is what should have happened: a phone call yesterday or even this morning saying«I’m very sorry. We mistakenly double booked Jessica for this time slot. Would you like to go with another stylist or perhaps rebook the appointment?» Blowout by Desi was ok; she was lovely and professional and was put in an awkward situation. She did the best she could. Certainly not what I wanted for this event, but that isn’t her fault. The convenience of blow dry bars is great. If you’re expecting anything more, blo at Hill Country Galleria is not the place for you. Blast would be a much better, professional option that has superior customer service.

So happy to have a blow dry shop in this area. Came here for the first time this week and was very impressed. My stylist did great work and was so friendly! *My only grip is that it has such a different feel from the Dry Bar experience(the franchise I would frequent back in CA). I love how their salons have a more fun and sassy vibe to them(chick flicks playing on big screen tv’s, champagne, magazines, phones charges at your seat, etc). Still would HIGHLY recommend this Blow Dry Bar. I will definitely be back soon! :)

Ladies! LADIES! Blo is fabulous. I mean this. With all my heart and every hair on my sexy ass hair do head! Here’s the thing: Ya gotta go on Monday or Tuesday. Here’s why: 1. Cost of a fabulous shampoo, conditioner, blow dry and oh so sexy ‘do is cut down from $ 40 to $ 30 from 9−5pm. 2. This leaves room on the budget to get a scalp massage. «Why, Shani,» you ask, «would a scalp massage matter?» Oh. Honey. Not only is it a great scalp massage, it’s a 10 minute escape to stress free heaven. The way they work their fingers through your hair has all that tension fluttering away like angry birds looking for another place to nest — cause it won’t be you! 3. The salon is also not as busy. Candace took care of me. She is just a gem! Great personality and fun to chat with. She and I talked about everything from her love for N Sync to men who wander in and make jokes about«getting a blow».(some men will never escape the nerdy teenager that thinks sex jokes are giggly) Everyone in the salon was so sweet and smiles all around. This is quite a trek for me from Central East Austin, but I can certainly see myself doing it just to return to Candace and her band of lovely blo dry peeps. Thanks, Candace, for taking such great care of me and giving me this super sexy fabulous hair, lady! LOVEIT!

WoW! How come I’ve never been to this place? I am so at a loss of what to do with my hair. I have a lot of it, and its stubborn. Enter Blow. You walk in and they have a book for you to pick out your style. I had a nice long shampoo(who doesn’t love this part??!) then over to the chair. My lady listened to how I wanted my hair to look. She put curls in my hair for a wedding I was going to later ANDTHEYSTAYEDINALLNIGHT! I think the only time my hair every kept a style other then straight was prom, and that took about 5 cans of aqua net. I was the girl in basic training always getting yelled at for my hair falling down. But someone she made my hair tamable, without making it sticky. If you have a special date, or just want to feel pretty, give blow a try. You won’t be disappointed!

I freaking LOVE this place! From the pink décor to the champagne to the stylists to the way I look afterwards. I’m a pretty tough customer and I’ve had three different people do my hair here and each one has been better than the last. AND — what might be a little known fact is that if you go on Monday or Tuesday it’s actually only $ 30!!! One week I’d had a really rough week so asked for two glasses of champagne and she had no problem fulfilling that request. lol. Hey — it’s the little things! I feel so pampered and special when I’m there… it’s now my once a week treat and I prioritize that WAY over getting my nails done or any other«me time» treatment.

The young woman who did my hair the other day was nothing, but kind, but… I was horrified at the way my head looked when I left this place. First of all, I have extra long, thick hair, which I figured wouldn’t be a problem, but I was wrong. I was going to an event that evening, where many people were going to be sitting behind me and my hair was so big, that I was asked to move. Do you know how humiliating that was for me? I went to this styling salon to get a simple bun in my hair. They have a bun on the menu, so that is what I wanted. Instead, I ended up with a gigantic bouffant that looked like it was something out of 1962. My hair was so big, it made me look even taller than I already am and people were literally pointing & laughing at me at the event I went to. Keep Austin Weird, huh? Not only that, but the girl who created this monster didn’t even pull my hair tight & slick in the front, where it should be smoothed. A bun should be smooth & tight in the front, then be a bun in the back. She did an extremely sloppy job. My hair was actually coming undone as soon as I started driving home to get ready for my event. It was also frizzy in the front where my hairline is. Overall, I was not happy with this girl’s ability. Anybody that does hair should know that you ALWAYS smooth the front and make a tight ponytail before creating a bun. She put the ponytail up in a tiny rubber band that didn’t even tighten. It looked like a sloppy ponytail that starts coming out in the front, like something you would do in a hurry at the gym, or something. It was even frayed on the sides. I didn’t even get a bun, I got a bouffant. My head looked like a freaking lollipop. I’m not exaggerating. Very, very sloppy work. Next time I need a hairstyle for an event, I’ll just get my 12 year old niece to do it, or I’ll do it myself! It’s my fault for not speaking up too. I’m usually assertive, but I was in a hurry. The simple fact is, I absolutely did not get what I asked for and the overall job was sloppy. She also burned the sh*t out of my scalp when she shampooed me. My scalp was scalded. I won’t go back to this place EVER!

The third Austin area installment… finally up in the Bee Cave/Lake Travis area! Yay! Conveniently located in the Hill Country Galleria in the strip behind Whole Foods and next t the radio station(you might miss it once). Most people are probably familiar with Blo salons and their concept(they are EVERYWHERE!; including Canada and the UK), so I won’t provide a detailed blow by blow(snarkle)…here’s the LD: No color, no cuts, wash and blowouts only. It’s the staff specialty and they know what they’re doing. Also, the fee is one flat rate — $ 40 — for any length/thickness of hair — and services are always pretty consistent. In my experience an average blowout ranges from $ 25 – 40; however, Blo does more than dry and run an iron through your hair. They have 7 fun«styles» to choose from(e.g., «Pillow Talk» [beachy waves], «High Society» [updos], «Go Fish» [very fun fish-tail braid])…something to suit everyone and for every occasion. My favorite is the kind of standard«Executive Sweet» — I love how they are able to get my wavy, frizzy, hair stick straight and it lasts for days! The stylists and other staff are all very friendly and helpful, which is icing. Gotta go to Blo! Tips: *This location just opened on September 19th so it’s bright and shiny new; however, they are already booking full quickly, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays(as is expected). **Every Monday and Tuesdays blows are only $ 30 from 9−5pm. ***All products used are by Unite, including sulfate free, color protect shampoo.
