I have been frequenting this venue since it opened. In the last month the staff has become less friendly and the offerings/selection is not as good as it was. Today was the kicker. I came in with a medium sized tote/crossbody bag and was told to leave it at the counter– c’mon that’s just weird and unnecessary. I understand large backpacks and duffle type bags– but you can’t expect someone to leave their handbag. I have visited at least 50 times and never been asked to leave my bag at the desk. I spoke to the owner briefly who was friendly but simply said«I am sorry to lose you as a customer». And… He also said they take large bags so people don’t knock into stuff– which when he looked at my bag I am sure he felt silly saying that because my butt is more of a hazard than my bag! This kind of stuff usually doesn’t bother me but, today it did! There are plenty of other places to shop where this kind of stuff doesn’t happen! And… who are we kidding it’s almost real yard sale season– so the need to go here will be non existent. Is it worth stopping by if you live super close, sure– but should anyone drive out from the other side of town(like I did frequently), nope!

Worth a visit, if not a tad dumpy. A lot of stuff inside, and we actually walked away with some stuff. Very friendly staff. They even have a café inside! Place was basically empty on a Saturday afternoon(weird). It’s not really like a garage sale, but instead an antique mall, so don’t let the name fool you.

With the opening of The Garage Sale Warehouse empire, westside is now becoming the Portland metro area’s go to destination for antique and second hand shopping. TGSW newly expanded store is now the largest store in the Pacific Northwest. The Western ave location includes an auction house, café, artisan and craft loft(work in progress 3⁄2015) antique mall, and other rooms dedicated to miscellaneous household items. I should also mention that TGSW has two other stores in the area. The Annex and the Walker road location. There is more savings, deals, and rock’n retro finds in a few blocks radius than ever before. TGSW has excellent price points, better than most shops on the east side. TGSW and many other great antique/vintage/retro/second hand stores in this area further proves that the westside has a lot of great retro/second hand shopping opportunities.

I came across this place on the way to a much pricier consignment store. It was fate because I had been looking for a bookcase for months and I found this beautiful bookcase(photo attached) which was originally $ 75, but marked down to $ 60. I want to also say that the customer service was wonderful, from Denise who was very helpful and reserved the bookcase for me until I was able to get there to the delivery team, who were amazing. This is my new go to place, including the location on Walker.

I have been coming into this location for a long time now and this was the first encounter with a woman named Denise. I had tried to ask her a question about an item I found and was completely ignored. When she finally did acknowledge me she was condescending and rude. I was sorry to have bothered her, felt unwelcomed and put the item back. The only reason I gave this place 3 stars instead of 1 is because I am grateful there are places like these that aren’t Goodwill, and one employee(a younger man with a hat) was very nice to me as he was coming in and as I was leaving. He asked if I needed help finding something. Since this experience I have been perusing through the reviews of this place and noticed a few other bad reviews that mention her. Hmm. I can definitely relate. Not sure why she is in the position she is in, she seems to be losing money for the company. I know she certainly lost my business. I hope she isn’t ever at the Walker location, I will just keep going there from now on.

I totally loved this place at first. Since the remodeling, the prices have skyrocketed. I have cringed when I saw a very used item that was just a few dollars less then A new one at Macys. This is suppose to be a garage sale place. They have basically the same things at the Goodwill store. I think we will shop there instead.

I posted this review a while back, and it shows up on my list of Unilocal reviews, but does not show up on the business’ Unilocal page. So here it is again: Tons of stuff here! It’s like a big indoor yard sale. You will find old stuff, like 200 year old furniture and household items, kitsch-y stuff, like all the fads from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and even newer electronic merchandise. I’ve been here a few times and really enjoyed browsing around. There is no pressure to buy anything, and the staff is friendly and helpful. They have a lot of formerly-fashionable clothes, but I don’t think they have a try-on area. The updated styles of today aren’t suitable for my body type, so I am always looking for outdated styles, newish old stock, and vintage. I could definitely spend a lot here if I knew things would fit. PS– make sure to check out«Ladies Nite» Here is the link to my original review:
