Paul & Verna Winkelman Park

Went by today around 2PM to find two large yards (one for small dogs, the other for mixed) locked. The remaining yard was rather small… with wood chips rather than grass… also had a lot of big dogs in. Was really disappointed, I have an older small breed and it would have been nice to find the proper yard unlocked. No explanation on the door why either! Bummer!

This dog park is the best in Beaverton!
I love the slopes, although I wouldn’t recommend your dog come here if he is prone to hip issues/​has arthritis. They have multiple gates for safety as well as a small dog area and a large dog area.
There’s a bark chipped area as well that looks like it’s for inclement weather. Lots of room for the dogs to run! They have some cute agility equipment that’s pretty fun to use.
There is water and bags available for use and the parking here is a lot better than out at Hondo in Hillsboro. I think this is my dog’s new favorite hang out spot!

I’ve been shopping around to find a dog park for my 2 boys since we moved from Colorado. While it isn’t as huge as they are accustomed to, it is a pretty awesome place. Nestled on a hillside of Cooper Mountain, this park has three different sections for dogs including a water fountain and hose if your furry friends get muddy during the rainy months. It’s all grass which is awesome. Highly recommended it!

This is seriously the best dog park I’ve seen in the area. There’s a huge big dog area as well as a generously sized small dog area. There is also a 3^rd area that has cedar chips for rainy days (some people also take their dogs who don’t play as well with others in there to play fetch).
The park is fantastic. Yes, there are some owners that could use to train their large dogs a little more diligently, but if your dog is gentle, you can always go into the small area. We have a puppy who loves big dogs. We just watch him closely and if anyone seems too undisciplined/​rough we’ll just take him to the small dog area. If no one is there, we bring a ball so he can at least play fetch to run out his energy. I love that this place has 3 areas to play — it makes it easier to just avoid people who do not properly train their dogs.

This dog park is fantastic. There are three different areas, each fenced securely: One for large dogs, small/​timid dogs, and an all weather area filled with bark chips. There is a middle area with a water bowl for your pup to drink out of. It can get crowded, especially around lunch time. My only issue, as with all dog parks, are with irresponsible owners. If you have a small or timid dog, please use the area for smaller dogs. It’s for the safety of all of the dogs in the park. It doesn’t matter how well trained or social you believe your dog is. You just never know how your dog is going to react to another dog and there are separated areas for both sizes for a reason!

This is the best most thoughtful dog park I’ve visited, with a beautiful country surrounding and so much space that it’s never crowded! There is a great fenced in space just for little dogs and a separate fenced in space for doggie buddies to play together if they want a smaller space! Absolutely beautiful and cute. and for the forgetful don’t worry, doggie bag stations and a water system are both great pluses for this dog park!

This place is AWESOME! Huge open grass area for the dogs that even has an agility course. I wish the grass area was open all year! There’s a wood chip area that is open all year, which is nice that there is that option. There’s also a smaller grass area for little tykes. The communal area has a water fountain for the dogs. It would be nicer if there was one in each area, but all in all this is one of the best dog parks I have ever seen.

My dogs and I had a great visit this afternoon! This was our first time at Winkleman dog park, and I have to say it won’t be our last. It was very clean, covered in healthy green grass, and there was a slope to it so that when I threw the ball, it went much further than it might have otherwise.
There were a lot of dogs at the park, but wasn’t overcrowded. I have two dogs, an Australian Cattle Dog and a Yorkie, and they both had a great time. There were all sorts of dogs there, ranging from 10 pounds to 120, and they played well together despite the size differences. The owners were friendly as well, and they were attentive to their dogs, which I thought was rather nice.
There is an agility course there, rather unique among parks in the area, there was a doggie water fountain, and there were lots of benches to relax on while the dogs played. There were two additional areas of joining the main park — one was a small grassy area for tiny dogs and the other was a mulched area, maybe for rainy days?
The park was comfortable, friendly, and well provisioned. Without a doubt, I’m going to be bringing my dogs back. Five stars!

My dog loves it here! Lots of room to roam and grassy hills to run up and down. Wares him out fast!

This dog park opened early last summer and is only a couple miles from my house so we were excited. I have a Boston Terrier who is super friendly and well socialized and when the park was new we enjoyed taking her there to play. We started out in the large area and it was fun.
As the summer wore on, more and more large dogs started coming along with Dog Parents who either don’t give a crap what their dogs do or have no control of their dogs behavior.
One dude in particular was allowing his large dog to dominate and growl/​bark at other dogs, including mine. My husband asked him to control his dog and he got rude. Every time we came he was there with his two big dogs and did nothing to control their behavior. We tried the small dog area and no one ever joined us so we gave up.
I will not risk my dogs health because stupid people continue to bring their ill behaved dogs to the park.

This dog park opened summer of ’13. I found it by accident while driving to Sherwood and I have been going here ever since.
It has a winter area and 2 grass areas. The winter area has large tan bark mulch which is nice because the dogs don’t get as dirty/​muddy. The smaller grass area is reserved for smaller dogs. The main grass area is for all dogs. It’s huge and doesn’t feel crowded like Hondo.

*Be cautious to let your dog run/​walk/​lay around on the flat playing field. The guy who lives in the red house is strict about keeping your dogs on-​leash when you are not in the off-​leash section of the park. He will threaten to call the park patrol if you don’t listen to him right away.

This is one of the newer dog parks in this area.
It’s built on a slope, at least the main part is. They do have two smaller sections for small/​timid dogs and just another area for other dogs.
They’ve had some issues with the water pipes leaking and causing some mud holes, but for the most part they’ve fixed that.
Nice park with lots of grass and space. Also has a built-​in mini agility area. They also have a dog water fountain.
It seems you have mostly responsible dog owners in here, you can tell cause there isn’t poop everywhere. :)
