Jazzercise

Yes really!
I’m doing a review of Jazzercise. No, my teacher isn’t Jane Fonda. Yes, the teacher does wear non-​shiny spandex, but YES — you do want to look like she does in said non-​shiny spandex. Why else would I go?!
Picture this: your mom working out in her sweats in the living room when you were about 7 years old. She’s huffing and puffing her way to the television images of a fluffy haired, make up dawning, bedazzled skin tight stirrup wearing Jane Fonda who is doing things that your mom not only shouldn’t do, but isn’t even coming close to doing well despite her best efforts.
Now — forget all of that because that’s NOT what Jazzercise is at all. I should know, I’ve been a fitness instructor for over 16 years (although admittedly not a Jazzercise instructor) so I know what a quality fitness class is. This? IS.
I’ve only gone to two different instructors’ classes: Meghan and Wendy… but mostly Meghan so this is my chance to get back at her for hours of intense, focused, sweaty, jumping, lunging, lifting, chasseing goodness. Although I won’t because she’s literate and likely vengeful.
In my years of experience, there are 2 types of fitness instructors (who are not dance specific): the cheer leader and the drill instructor. Meghan… «drill instructor» doesn’t even cover it! She’s motivating, inspiring, informative, stern… but all in a sweet sweaty package. I’m not sure what her game is. Maybe there are bodies in her basement or something, but I can assure you — they are probably some of the fittest bodies the CSI detectives will ever see.
But I digress.
I’ve enjoyed every workout I’ve done there. The instructors and staff are friendly and professional, the establishment is clean and well maintained and the other students are generally respectful and easy to exercise around.
Bonus: there’s always plenty of close parking. I love that.
There’s a reason Jazzercise has been around as long as it has (I believe it’s the longest running exercise franchise of all time). I’d recommend you go and find out why… or Meghan will find you!
