We just moved here and were looking for our new go-to take out spot. The restaurant was empty at dinner time which concerned me, but I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was! The chicken pad Thai is amazing! My husband ordered the sweet and sour chicken plate and he loved that too. We ordered a side of fried shrimp and weren’t disappointed with those either! Also, the fortune cookies didn’t come in the plastic wrappers and tasted home made, so I suspect they may have been. Overall very positive experience and don’t understand why this place doesn’t have better reviews!

So, if you have read my original review, apparently I had the bad luck to have been there on their last night open at that business. It doesn’t really excuse bad service, but I am sure they were distracted. They have since relocated just across the street in the same shopping center. Its a much smaller place, which suits them fine because I think much of their business if take out and delivery. Food is very good, and they get your take out order out pretty quickly. A very good local option.

Not one of my personal favorites. The food tends to be pretty boring. If i wanted I’m pretty sure I could cook each dish at home with the same reaults. All being said the food is safe and if you are hungry and don’t feel like going down the street than this place will do. They deliver so that is a plus.

Not too good of ambiance, more like roadside cafeteria. Rather small portions, too much breading on the chicken and pork, no spring roll with the meal or soup. The same company owns Happy Panda which is a way better meal for the money. Better up your game guys.

Meh. I live 10 blocks away but was in my PJs so I didn’t want to drive anywhere. I ordered the sesame chicken and the pineapple chicken fried rice. I got my order an hour later. The sesame chicken was soggy of course and just tasted like breaded chicken. The pineapple fried rice was basically steamed rice with soy sauce, egg, chicken, bell pepper and pineapple. I was hungry so I ate it. But overall it was just bland. Won’t be ordering again.

It seems like the best value at a Chinese restaurant is far and away the lunch. Same deal here. About 7.50 gets you an alright serving of entrée with scoop of steamed rice and a piece of crisp fried wonton wrapper(not filled). They dont use msg so that’s a plus but don’t expect anything other than run off the mill chinese entrees like Gen.Tsao. Mongolian beef, sweet n sour… and run of the mill execution). You get the picture. It’s moved a few doors down from its original spot(probably caused a majority of their business is take out/delivery) and it really hasnt changed much over the last decade or so. I don’t hate. I don’t love it. I never crave it. But it is consistent, fast and the employees are very kind. As more competition has moved in over the years my only suggestion would be to add a couple of new healthy items to differentiate them and give is something to be excited about.

The food is not good. I have eaten here multiple times and the food is bland. Not only that but for example, the Kung Pao chicken is more Kung Pao veggies. There is hardly any chicken. I would love to try this place again someday but they will have to fully revamp their menu. Until then, House of Good Fortune is 20x better and literally right next door.

Why is it so hard to find good Chinese food in this city… I had tried this place a couple times but I am over it.

We’ve eaten in the restaurant once, had take out twice and delivery once. All four times the food was excellent: quality, freshness, customer service, it’s all solid. The lunch specials, available Monday through Friday til 4pm are a very good value. Nothing over $ 8 and all meals come with seamed rice and fried wonton. I had the Cashew Nut Chicken($ 7.50): white breast meat(no fat, bone or gristle) with carrots, celery, bamboo shoots & water chestnuts, topped with cashew nuts. Deelish! Another time I had the Sweet & Sour Pork. I’m not usually a fan of this dish because of the cheap, fatty cuts of pork used and the sickening sweet sauce but Hot Plate does it fairly well. They use good pork tenderloin, but alas, the sauce was very sweet and the dish had no vegetables(which I guess is pretty standard). Today we had the Wor Won Ton soup, absolutely one of the best I’ve ever had. The pork dumplings were loaded with garlic and ginger and you could tell the chicken broth is homemade. Lots of chicken & cabbage, BBQ pork and shrimp, I’ll definitely be ordering that again. The restaurant never seems to be crowded but they do a busy takeout business. Very nice people behind the counter too. Parking can be difficult because of all the other businesses in the center but Hot Plate is a great addition to the Murray Scholls shopping center.

I’ve order here many times both takeout and delivery. Delivery is fast and they are super friendly. My kids loves the chow mein(Lo Mein)! I love that they use fresh vegetables-Broccoli, Mushrooms, zucchini, not frozen or canned. and they give you plenty. They use white meat for chicken dishes. It’s not the best Chinese, but for the quality, service and A-OK food, I’m a regular customer.

New to the Beaverton area, I called to order for delivery on a weeknight. I was excited that I could order Thai for myself and Chinese for my husband. My chicken pad Thai was great! My spring roll was tasty and the fortune cookie was the best I’ve had in quite some time. The best part was that it was delivered in about half the quoted time. I will definitely order from here again!

This is not just Chinese food. They have an excellent menu. We started with Salt and Pepper Calamari, Fried Shrimp, and Chicken Wings. All were excellent. The chicken wings however, are probably the best I’ve had from any restaurant. It’s nice to be in a restaurant where you can order chow mein and pad thai noodles. We ordered 6 different menu items. My two youngest boys don’t usually eat much Chinese food but they loved this place. Overall the staff was friendly, the food delicious, and the price is very good

The kung pao chicken was disappointing. I would not recommend. It has lots of celery, water chestnuts, and the flavors were bland. But the chow mein noodles were decent.(family style) The restaurant is clean and welcoming, friendly service.

I have ate here twice so far in the past month and the food is amazing every time. I love the chow mein noodles the best! Always hot and fresh tasting. The service is wonderful and food is great. Can’t say enough great about this place!

EXTREMELYDISAPPOINTED. Got home with my meal of Kung Pao Chicken, or better yet Kung Pao Bamboo Shoot, Carrot, Celery and Water Chestnuts. There was exactly 1.21oz of chicken and nine peanuts in this dish. Need I say more? VERYDISAPPOINTED.

This place is absolutely great. The Mongolian beef is super tender and delicious. Salt and pepper chicken/shrimp/calamari is the best. Its not too salty and just perfect!

I’m not sure what happened with some of the negative reviews. I’ve come here a couple times per year for the past couple years, and I’ve never been disappointed. The service is always good, portion sizes are adequate, and the food is delicious. Even my children enjoy the food. I typically get Kung Pao tofu, tofu with veggies, or sweet and sour shrimp. None have ever been greasy, and the quality never varies. The egg flower soup is decent and filled with veggies. The hot and sour soup is good, though I prefer mine a bit spicier; still, a good soup overall. They’ve recently moved two doors over from their previous, larger space, but the service and food are still great!

Very disappointed in the food, breaded shrimp was soggy. Food didn’t have much flavor. Will not be back. Super disappointed…

It saddens me that the food and service have gone downhill so much. We have been customers for years. Our last visit was sub par at best. The egg flower soup had an off taste, the bbq pork was mushy and the sweet and sour and sesame chicken sauces were burned and tasted gross. When we politely brought it to the waiters attention, he offered a replacement entrée. We ordered fried shrimp and it was ok(since it has no sauce). Sorry, asian hot plate. But you are no longer our go to place for Chinese food.
