Went there on a Friday night for karaōke with a group from work. Called and gave several days notice and still only one bartender working, which made for slow service. The karaōke is pretty archaic with a decent selection of songs, but very much in need of an update. Not very busy but still took 45 min for a song to be called. A co-worker had her purse stolen from under her seat. Orange chicken was good but will not be coming back to this place.

This place was very casual and kind of dirty. There were a lot of regulars and a very bustling lounge. It kind of had a 90s feel to it. I’m pretty sure it hasn’t been updated since then. The food was decent but not anything special and the waitstaff were uncomfortably casual. I don’t think I’ll be going back.

I love this place so much! Some people would disagree, but my family and I have been coming here since I was a kid(25+ years) and we will until they close their doors. It looks a little run down on the outside, the red roof doesn’t shine as bright anymore but the inside still has that awesome, dark & seedy feel. Take a trip to the basement bathrooms — my favorite wallpaper ever ;) I always order the sesame chicken –it’s the BEST. You can just tell the oil is clean, they only use white meat — it’s fresh. I order sesame chicken at every Chinese restaurant that offers it, and it never comes close to comparing to Golden Crowns. It will always be a family tradition when my parents are in town!

I’ve been looking for a good Chinese place that serves fresh, normal Chinese food. Like what I used to eat growing up. Found it! It took awhile. Most places tried to change traditional American Chinese food dishes to much or weren’t fresh. This was just what I’ve been looking for. Nice people, good food, big portions. I read a few reviews saying how expensive they are. They do charge a bit more but you get more. I ordered take out. I got four boxes stuffed with food. It fed me for dinner then lunch the next day. Super over priced, food was meh tasting. Portion sizes were smaller then most chinese food places. Sodas come in like a rocks glass and only get one refill. We won’t be returning.

Chow mien is a joke. Fried rice is really good. The few entrees I tried were great and portions are ok for the price.

I love this place! The food is great and the portions are huge. So what if its old, it’s called atmosphere! Wait staff are all very nice and run their butts off, especially in the bar. For those that say it smells like smoke, it doesn’t, I don’t smoke and it has never smelled like smoke to me. Don’t pay attention to the bad reviews because they are not true! No I am not affiliated, I’m just a customer that likes good food.

I’m giving this place a one star. The food wasn’t fresh, the waitress didn’t know how to cater to her customers, the drinks were watered down. Don’t go here, save yourself the misery.

How have I never eaten here after living in this area for so long? Sooo, I have still never stepped foot inside because my husband did the pick up for us. He reported back that eating there is not really an option — it smells of old cigarettes and looks worse. Take out all the way unless you like the seedy dive bar thing. And if you do, more power to you my friend! Personally, I do not enjoy the smell of an ashtray while I eat. We got pork fried rice(perfect — and a lot of pork!), pork chow mein(some of the best I have ever had — perfect sauce to sprout ratio), sesame chicken(they sent this separated and with like no seeds which was a bit odd and not that great BUT I intend to mix it myself next go and then let it sit), sweet and sour chicken(and this one they sent mixed so it was too soggy and my husband did not like it!), crab puffs(their dipping sauce is not great and the puffs were pretty good though disappointing since the rest of the food was so good), fried shrimp(some f the best I have had!), and cashew nut chicken(amazing). I cannot wait to order from here again! Also, pro tip — they are open pretty late…10pm weeknights and 11pm weekends.

I like the food, I have been eating there since it has opened. The food is always fresh when you eat in, and they give large portions for the money. The fried shrimp I love, The sesame chicken is wonderful. They have the best Chow mein. I have never eaten in the bar, perhaps it is different but I find the place clean and the wait staff is welcoming. The best Chinese food in Beaverton.

Wish I could give 0 stars. Awful service. Cashier was rude. I informed her she said no she wasn’t. Spoke to manager and he gave the same rude response. Don’t waste your time. The other Unilocalers are correct in their terrible reviews.

We went for karaōke on a Saturday night. We didn’t buy any food that night but we were buying drinks. The drinks were average for an average price. Mary, the karaōke DJ, was fantastic but the night went sour. What happened? They, without any warning or notice, decided to close an hour early with no explanation. We decided to give it another shot on a Friday, thinking maybe we had missed a notice or something. This time we ordered food and drinks and had a party of five. Again, Mary was fantastic. But they did it again! This time they closed over an hour early, after we’d been sitting there picking out songs to song and spending money. They said it was because there wasn’t enough business. But they advertised that karaōke went until 2 and by the time they informed us they were closing we were too inebriated to go elsewhere(the friend I’m visiting lives a block away from the bar). Had we known they were going to close so early we would’ve gone somewhere else and would’ve had time to plan for a ride home. We planned our night around them being open late and it was extremely disappointing to have my one late night out in town cut short. I believe it is exceedingly unprofessional to randomly close early without any advance notice of even the possibility. It should say on the website that they’ll close early if there aren’t enough people there. Not a pleasant surprise.

Everything was awful. The most disgusting Chinese food ever. They used spaghetti for curry. The SHRIMP egg rolls have more pork in them than anything. And then the manager tried to say we were at fault for not asking if the SHRIMP rolls had meat!

The food was just okay but not worth the price Service was not that much better –when I questioned our server about something I didn’t order 2 of on our bill she just said that okay you can take it home -?? Waited forever to get the check and Yeah it was still on my bill even pointed it out to the cashier(still paid for it) and it wasn’t worth taking home

So this place is pretty okay for an Asian inspired restaurant, but I gave it three stars because first the wonton soup was extremely salty I couldn’t even drink it. One of the workers was so god damn loud and basically screaming at me and my partner when we were two inches away from her, the chicken in the chicken fried rice felt like I was eating a damn sponge but atleast the lemon chicken was enjoyable

The best chinese food I’ve been able to find in the Beaverton area. The place has a very unique feel. The food has always been solidly good, not mind blowing, but I go back time and time again for take out and dining in.

PROS: It was a very busy night, but we were seated immediately. Woo. The pot stickers are ridiculous. Not only are they the size of a small fist, but they are crazy delicious. Just the right amount of everything, but in super size form. They come in orders of 3 or 6(random, but whatever). We ordered the large(6), but after 2 I had to stop myself or I would have been too full for my actual dinner. Really, really good(and I don’t really like pot stickers all that much.) The tea is free. My boyfriend loves tea, I’m hit and miss with the tea, and having it there without paying for it was great. And it tastes good and actually arrives hot. CONS: It took them a long time to take our order after seating us, even though people kept asking if we had been helped yet. Boo. The actual food is meh. I ordered sesame chicken, fried shrimp, and chicken chow mien. I asked for pan-fried noodles(thinking they were something completely different) and ended up with chow mien noodles that were tossed on the wok for a few seconds. Everything had the same general flavor, the sauce was overly sweet, not enough sour, and it all had that fried-in-oil-ness. There was an overall blah look to it. It was *okay*, but not good enough to make me want to go back. My boyfriend really liked his egg foo young, but I wasn’t as enthused.

It used to be that finding a good American style Chinese Restaurant was easy. You could go anywhere and find favorites like Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Pork, Fried Rice, Broccoli Beef and never be disappointed. Over the last 25 years, these places have gone, and where they have gone I don’t know. One of the last hold-outs for good Chinese has been the Golden Crown Restaurant on Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, but I am sad to report that I now have to scratch the Golden Crown off of this very short list. My choice to never return to Golden Crown is not based on a single experience, but rather a steady slide from good to bad over time. Both dining in, and take-out over the past year, I have seen one of my favorite restaurants transform itself into more and more disappointment. The service has been fine, the atmosphere(which I love — stepping inside the restaurant, I feel like I have used a time machine and stepped into the past. A classic dimly lit dining room with décor that screams 1975. There’s a lounge. And the smell — it smells like a Chinese restaurant of my childhood.) The problem: THEFOOD. Recent example: I’ll start with the appetizers. The BBQ pork used to be moist and melt-in-your-mouth. Not anymore — dry and inedible is how it’s prepared now. There’s no amount of dipping mustard that can fix it. Next, the handmade potstckers. To start with, they are doughy. The dough was very thick, too thick to eat. The filling was completely lacking of flavor, so much so that removing the dough and attempting to eat the filling by itself was not a good choice. They gave us some kind of vinegar and rancid chili oil. Am I supposed to mix it? Dip in one then the other? What kind of alchemy is required to make this meal tasty? The appetizers were not appetizing at all. The Pork Chow Mein was the high spot of the order. It was okay. The color was a near uniform grey, and they forgot to give us the crispy noodles that goes with them. The fried rice was a greasy mess. While there was plenty of pork bits in the rice, the flavor and texture were near gag inducing. Sweet and Sour pork? The deep-fried to death pork was chewy as hell. The sesame chicken was also overcooked, but instead of chewy, they opted for the dry and inedible, like the BBQ pork. Why would I come back to this? For a fraction of the money I can get marginally better crappy Chinese food from the Safeway deli. Not. Going. Back.

I always love eating here. The pot stickers are huge as well as their portions. It is pricey but delicious. I generally eat the same thing whenever I go anywhere and here I eat the Lemon Chicken. The sauce is just the right amount of lemon and the chicken is fried perfect without that old oil taste some restaurants have. And you get tea.

A couple of words come to my immediate mind when I stepped in here. The outside is quite unique, making you think maybe you stepped into Alice’s wonderland, but the inside definitely leaves something to be desired. DARK and SEEDY! I love it– this is in the bar part though, not the restaurant side. If you must go and don’t have the young uns, go to bar area! Not just for booze but for the atmosphere. It’s big and roomy. The Karaōke booth is cute, I like how they decorated it. The staff very friendly and attentive here. The food was ok– probably would not eat here again(not their fault) the food was just eh. I would go here to hang out though. They have video poker and tv’s if you are ever so inclined! Get to it! You may find me there with a cocktail!
