Eat Street was a mixed bag for me. A friend and I decided to give it a try for lunch today, Monday. We were the first people in when they opened and only one other couple came in while we were there. I hope this isn’t an omen for the future as the place has promise. As it was the first time we had been there we decided to try four dishes to give the place a fair shake. So we ordered the pot stickers and the calamari for appetizers and the Taiwanese Beef Noodle soup and the Ja Jian Mien for the main dishes. The calamari was well prepared, nice and crisp with no oily after taste. It came with some sort of tasteless yellow dip on the side. Neither I nor my chef friend was sure what it was. Also, the calamari in the photo book looked like larger slices and it appeared to have a different coating. That said the calamari was goof and we’d order it again. There were four pot stickers in the pot sticker order, not six as you often get. The pot stickers were large and four was plenty for an appetizer. If I had a complaint it was that the pot sticker sauce was bland. The flavor was thin and very subtle. It could have used a more flavorful sauce. I added a little chili oil which helped. The Taiwanese beef noodle soup was quite good. The broth was flavorful and the beef was cook just right though the noodles were a little on the mushy side. Some of the pieces of beef had a nice chunk of fat attached. In this soup the fat is a good thing as it adds to the mouth feel and the soup would not have been nearly as good if the beef is too lean. Just be aware if your fat adverse you will want to stay away from this soup. The Ja Jian was the big disappointment. The meat was nicely prepared and the noodles were firm without being tough but the sauce was a downer. It was flat. Not enough salt and little or no chili. Ja Jian should have a little kick to it, IMHO. Adding some chili oil helped but it isn’t the same as a well prepared sauce. Overall, the food was good enough to go back for some additional exploration but not the Pok Pok level that we had hoped for. It’s almost like they are trying too hard. To please everyone so the cooking isn’t really strong in any particular cuisine. We’ll be back to try some of the other dishes. One last comment, I was disappointed that the take out menu didn’t list all of the dishes that they have on the menu. A minor point at best.

To reach Eat Street of World you turn off Cedar Hills Boulevard near the H-Mart store. East Street of World is in a strip mall between H-Mart and Beaverton’s popular JCD Korean Restaurant. A number of interesting eateries have occupied this location and Eat Street Food Of World is the latest. For starters Eat Street Food Of World is a rather stark and simply furnished restaurant. If they have an air conditioner it wasn’t working on our visit. The restaurant was hot and stuffy. Our service started out very reserved but as the night wore on our server grew on us. The menu makes for a fascinating read. Among the offerings here are salmon kimchi fried rice, lamb gyros, a Macau burger, French fries, sea snail with black bean sauce, bakery items, and desserts. Not sure where this menu is going but Eat Street Food Of World has one of the quirkiest menus in town. They even provide separate photo books so you can see what you are ordering! On our visit we sampled the pot stickers, beef noodle soup, Happy Family, and General Tso’s Chicken. The pot stickers were above average. The beef noodle soup and General Tso’s Chicken were absolute knock it out of the ballpark home runs! The Happy Family unfortunately fell flat on its face. A lackluster dish needing more flavoring. Special mention needs to be made of the General Tso’s Chicken. Eat Street Food Of World serves this classic dish up with huge chunks of chicken in the most delicious sauce. All of my diners agreed that Eat Street Food Of World’s General Tso’s Chicken was the best they had ever been served anywhere in the world. The four stars are for the General Tso’s Chicken. Note the mixed reviews for Eat Street Food Of World on Unilocal.I would attribute this to inconsistency in the kitchen. Iron out some kinks and Eat Street Food Of World could become one of the Portland area’s most interesting eateries.

Bottom line: would not recommend to a friend. I would not go back. My husband and I checked this place out yesterday after hearing good things about it. Also, we love street food. Scallion pancake hardly had any scallions, and it tasted stale. Mushroom wrapped in tofu was ice cold and bland. We held out hope for the entrée. We heard the microwave go off in the kitchen, and then our food came out shortly thereafter. The rotisserie pork on rice was really poor quality, and the mediocre seasoning could not save it. Our favorite part was the boiled egg and pickled vegetable on the side, both of which we could have had at home. Otherwise, we felt thoroughly insulted by what we were served. Pros: Service was excellent, and the boiled egg was good. Cons: What we were served was the most disappointing restaurant meal I’ve had in 3 years, and I eat out on a weekly basis(at least)

New Asian food restaurant. Stylish and delicious .just the size of the dish is little small.

Rate this place 3.5 stars. Only reason why I subtracted .5 star was because it was a bit dark for my taste. Came during a Saturday night for dinner from a recommendation per a friend and I must say I’m pleased. The menu at this venue is very helpful where they have it in a picture album depicting the selections. Even though you may not know what you feel for but the many pictures will start making you salivate! Ordered the fried pork-chop over rice dish and the south Taiwan dan dan noodle soup and was satisfied with the consistency of the taste and textures of each. Noodles weren’t soggy and the fried pork-chop was moist. For dessert, ordered the mango syrup with ice cream and tapioca and was in heaven eating every single bite even though we were so full from the meal! Would definitely return to try the other items on the menu.

Despite mixed reviews, our food group gave this a try. The seven of us almost completely wiped out the 9 dishes we got. I had to get my chili oil and soy sauce on the side to spike up my plate but I do have a salty palate and I like them spicy. The wait staff was attentive and very often they asked how things were… so if the dishes we got were just terrible, we would have said something. For me, the standout dishes were zhajiang mein(black bean noodles), braised combo cold plate, chao zhou fried rice cake. The cumin lamb was good but could be better with aggressive spices — i need to taste the cumin and perhaps a little sichuan peppercorn? Ask for what off menu items they may have — tonight we had tender snow pea leaves sauteed in garlic. That was amazing… better than a few popular restaurants in Beav. Yes the menu is all over the place and technically not all those dishes can be considered street food. Perhaps some downsizing is in order to have a better focus on the menu which hopefully will result in better execution. Street food should be paired up with street drinks… and perhaps some inventive cocktails, and international beer. Put a happy hour menu, and this place can shine!

My wife and I decided to give this new restaurant a try after seeing a review in a local paper. We are the type who usually try a new place and if it’s good we stick with it for a long time. This is a place worth visiting… not the best location perhaps… it’s a bit hidden… but certainly worth finding it. Some people judge ice cream by the vanilla ice cream… we judge Asian restaurants by their potstickers… awesome…awesome…awesome…handmade…cooked perfectly… as good as it gets… I could go on and on but give this place a try’…you won’t be disappointed.

My Boyfriend brother said this place had pretty good rating at this place and it just open up, so we decided to check the place out while we are in OR. This place should not be a 4 stars rating. Food was nasty and not enough flavor to it. I would thought this place would be good because they just open up and turn out everything here wasn’t good at all. We ordered 5 dishes to see how the food was. The first dish was had was the ribs, which was ok, not the best ribs I ever had. The second dishes was fries chicken wings and it was ok. Third dishes was steam fish with chill and there was no flavor to the fish. The fish didn’t even have enough salt to it, so you can’t even taste anything to it. Four dishes was soft tofu with meat and AGAINNOTASTETOIT and not enough SALT!!!(at this point I’m getting really mad already). Our last dishes was Sea Snail!!! The last dishes seem so freaking good on the menu and turn out it tasted so nasty. I couldn’t even take another bites!!! The sea snail doesn’t even taste like sea snail and AGAINNOTENOUGHSALT to the dish and no flavor to it. If I could rate this place, I wouldn’t even give this place any star!!! Not worth paying the price to come to this place and eat. Never come here again or recommend anyone to this place. Worst place to come and spend your money here.

I bookmarked this nice restaurant awhile ago because it seemed like a great concept, but it wasn’t until tonight that a friend and I had a chance to come and try it out. My first impression was that I liked the sign and title really well; everything is well-lit and cheerful-looking. We were greeted immediately by a very pleasant young man and shown to a table. He got us our choice of drinks immediately after leaving a photo album(with captions on the photos) of many of the dishes available. There is also a regular printed menu which has the complete listing of all dishes available. The photo album is not a complete roster, but is very helpful nonetheless. The food arrived rapidly after I chose Tokyo grilled spareribs, a little tougher than I would prefer, but the glaze was super tasty. I found asking for a knife helpful in getting the meat off the bones in order to eat it. I also had Vietnamese grilled chicken spring rolls. These were a little bland but still tasty. The peanut dipping sauce provided was OK, but I found the sauce from my friend’s General Tso was even more ideal. In fact, the most impressive dish of all was the General Tso Chicken. I was surprised by this for some reason. I thought things that were considered more to be the street food would be the best of all, but the General Tso chicken was the best I’m not sure what they used to bread the chicken for the General Tso dish, but it was light and crispy and did not detract from the super-fresh chicken meat. The sauce was deep and a bit smoky in flavor and not terribly sweet. I have a couple of suggestions that I hope that eventually might enable to me to give this venue a full five stars because I do want to come back(lots of dishes to try out after all). First, be sure that things are scrupulously cleaned. Our table had not been cleaned off well, and there were specks and lumps that could be scraped off by fingernail. The dishes and forks and spoons were spotlessly clean. The restaurant was empty when we visited, and our very pleasant host and waiter tended to hover over us. I know they were concerned about giving us the best service possible, but the waiter visited us too often to make it a comfortable experience. I think mostly it was the waiter being shy and working hard; I don’t think it was meant to irritate or annoy. On the other hand, I really appreciated the frequent water and drink refills. I definitely will return because of the very nice staff and overall good service here and also because much of the food was very tasty and also because there are many other intriguing dishes to try in the future. I really want to try the Baked Pineapple Fried Rice next time. So, Eat Street Food of the World, I’m watching and waiting for you to become the success I know you can be!

I was intrigued by the name, so a group of us decided to check it out. We tried the small plates of pot stickers, grilled spareribs, Thai crispy chicken wings, entrees of the sea snail(just to be adventurous), and sweet and sour chicken. The best of the lot was the Tokyo Grilled Spareribs. The other dishes were just okay, but all were edible. Had to ask for sugar, napkins, and a knife. Also, no salt and pepper on the table. Not a big deal, but just irritating. One nice thing is that they have taken pictures of many of the items and give you an album to look at which is helpful if you are unfamiliar with a dish. We will probably go back again and try some more dishes. There are a lot of items on their menu and I am sure there is at least one that has the«it» factor I am looking for.

We accidentally went to this place because the next Korean restaurant was closed. Thought it would be OK… but it wasn’t. We ordered General Tso Chicken and Salt&Peppers Prawns, chicken was stiff and dry also the sauce wasn’t delicious. Also prawn dish was too oily and no flavor. It didn’t seem like $ 13.95 dish. The staffs were nice and the place is clean. I don’t know about other foods there but our food wasn’t delicious.

Discovered this place by accident and I’m very glad I did. When I walked in, I thought it was just another typical Chinese restaurant with their assortment of sweet and sour sauces and greasy meat, but to my surprise, this restaurant had a wide variety of food. I ordered the«Taiwan Smile Pot Stickers» and the«egg wrapped rice» and both were delicious. I have never seen these items at other chinese restaurants. Definitely will go back.

Wow! Stumbled upon this gem with Street Food in the name and knew we had to try it. Turns out they just opened yesterday. Lucky us! Highly recommend it! Especially to anyone that loves authentic food from other lands. Quite the variety. We tried the Pumpkin Short Ribs served in a pumpkin, the Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Sea Snails, and Potstickers. All were exceptional! Then it came to dessert. We just had to try the Dessert of the Gods. So glad we did! Incredibly good! Worth stopping in just for dessert! We will be back and look forward to trying more. A new favorite!
