Brainwave PC — Don’t trust, Don’t buy, no ethics. Big box stores 1, small business 0. What happened to small business work ethic and morals? Does nobody stand behind their work or the products they sell? We heavily support local small business. We use Unilocal all the time to find good food and places to do business. We opened this account to review and comment on those places too. I really wanted this to be a positive experience but I feel responsible to say something here. We found this company by using Unilocal and went to them because of the reviews. I bought a used laptop and my experience was worse than buying a used car. Chose a computer, $ 225.00, Mark started it up and shut it down and took my money. Sent me out the door with a smile and told me if I had any problem with it to bring it on in. I didn’t even see the corny quote of their no return policy stenciled on the back wall and Mark didn’t think it was important enough to tell me about it. Late Friday after they close I proceed to set up the wireless connection in my home. No sooner do I get the connection set up, the computer goes out. After closer inspection, I see the AC adapter plug has broken loose and cannot connect with the plug. I take it in on Saturday and Mark asks me what I did to break it! It’s a cheap flimsy design and easy to do he says. I told him I hardly touched it and did not break it. He strongly fought back saying it wasn’t like that when it left the store but agreed to fix it. While waiting almost an hour, I had the opportunity to see several people come and go and listen to his partners’ sales pitch. «All work is done on a first come first serve basis» I heard several times from both of them. BUT, If you’re in a hurry, for $ 35.00 we will put you up ahead of everybody! The express service fee! Does that come with a list of who is ahead of you? I can almost see the next person coming in to pick up her PC. «I’m sorry Mrs. Jones but your computer won’t be ready until tomorrow because somebody paid to get ahead of you. But for a fee…» Really Anything For A Buck Mark returns and almost sounds apologetic and tells me he put more effort into fixing the adapter than the super glue repair he mentioned when I first brought it in. But still not accepting responsibility for the condition he sold it in. That afternoon I get it started and begin loading my wireless printer. After running the disk the computer seems to feel hot. I get the wireless printer installed and the laptop shuts down again! I try to restart with no success. I let it cool down enough to get my printer setup disk out. At reboot, I’m asked to go to a system restore point. I am also notified that Windows is missing a driver. $ 225.00 and I haven’t run the laptop for more than 30 minutes to this point. I call after hours and leave a message. I explain what has been going on, and let him know I can’t spend that kind of money for a useless piece of equipment. I’ll be in to return the laptop. I get no return call for any reason from anybody. When I take it in he looks surprised to see me and asks what’s wrong. I explain(again). He performs a search to look for information about what I told him and says he can’t find anything wrong, nothing he can do, and the windows driver error must have something to do with my printer installation!!! He refers to the no return policy stenciled on the wall and tells me he will charge a returned check fee if I stop payment on the check. I left his hardly working laptop with him. My guess is the next stencil on his wall will be no checks accepted. It surly won’t be anything about warranting his products. He continues to harass me by calling me at work and leaving rude messages and threats. Just OUR experience, I would hope there are not many more like that but we can not support his business and have zero trust in him.

I have used Brainwave PC for laptop repairs twice and have been pleased. Mark is professional and didn’t even laugh at me when I brought my laptop in saying it wouldn’t power on… and of course it powered on right in front of him! It’s so nice to have a reliable place to go that is locally owned, honest and fairly priced.

macbook air with a cracked screen due to impact. Apple wanted $ 450, I decided to try and save money. Bad decision. Paid $ 250 up front and was told approximately 2 days for parts to arrive followed by two hour repair. No problem with that. After a week I called to ask if the parts are in yet and felt like I was bothering him«I told you I would call when the parts arrived.». I mentioned it had been a while so I thought I would check to see if he had the right number etc. No issue with the time, just the poor customer service and interaction. Screen repair: one of the diffuser panels behind the screen was evidently damaged from the repair(not evident prior to repair), and a big scratch that was not there prior to repair on the opposite side of the screen. The diffuser sheet is badly wrinkled and damaged. He mentioned it might calm down over time, and Apple doesn’t sell the sheets. Basically, my screen looks like crap with bright white patches all over it and a fingernail shaped scratch that makes it look like a hair behind the glass. If he knew this was a possibility, and the diffuser screens were not available, he should have told me. The metal bezel around the screen is coming loose and light is leaking past it on the bottom. The black hinge now has several white patches on it he said looked like white paint… these were not there prior to this repair. The rubber gasket around the perimeter is also chewed up. No attention to detail, indelicate and very poor quality repair. I tried to save money and lost. I’m heading to apple to fix his fix. Overall a poor repair and a bad experience.

I came in to sell my old laptop. I had been putting it off for a long time but alas, I needed some cash. The laptop had to be nearly 5 years old, the exterior in great condition, however I couldn’t get it to turn on. I still got a better than expected offer for it and the owner was friendly. Would definitely send my friends here. And to the previous post, that fee is standard and even less than some places I’ve been to in Tigard. Should not have been a surprise.

I have used Brainwave PC multiple times and have always had great service. They are quick and very fair on the prices. I have also referred many people to them and they have all been satisfied with the work done.
