This is the kind of place I imagine hanging out with my Grandpa at in the 70’s. Cool old building with a great sign, counter seating, pie case and Naugahyde booths that just beg for a conversation about the weather or crops. The menu is a no nonsense selection of home town favorites. Hot sandwiches, meat loaf, soups and salads. The recipes probably haven’t changed in decades. The servers are seasoned employees, with names like«Marge» or «Colleen» Tip these ladies well, they deserve it.

Good price for most of the dishes on the menu. Came here for breakfast and got the Fritter Breakfast. 2 slices of fritter bread, 2 eggs, hash browns and 4 slices of bacon for about $ 9. Service was fast and food was good.

Walkers is classic Beaver Dam. Very good food for fair prices. Arrive early on weekends to get in without a wait. Also, Walkers has a nice baked goods section to take home.

I do like the food here, but sometimes it’s so busy you can’t even move and that makes me very uncomfortable.

Not sure why I rated this a 4, it really might be a 5. I happened to be staying at the Quality Inn motel and checked Unilocal when I got into my room. To my delight this restaurant happened to be connected to the Motel. Normally I avoid hotel restaurants, like I owe them money, but the reviews on this had my curiosity and I was dog tired from driving 14 hours and working 7 so I was pretty delighted to not be driving looking for a honey hole… The travel Angels did their job. It was a Friday night around 6, place was pretty full, but they found me a booth in seconds. Service was friendly and very prompt. I ordered the Walleye fry special and it was almost as good as my mother would make. My mother could take any fish, knock it in the head, filet it, roll it in Egg wash and crumbs, fry it, serve it and the earth moved. This was near that good, but perhaps just a tad over done. The cheesy seafood chowder was stellar. I could have eaten it for breakfast if it was on the Menu. I finished with a piece of Apple pie that put me into a diabetic coma. Life was good. It was so good, I ate breakfast(House Scramble) and Dinner the Stroganoff special. Beef was very tender, with a nice sauce with a little sour bite over long noodles. There may be better places in this town, but it had everything I wanted and more. I took home(900miles away) a HUGE pecan caramel bun for my wife. I fit in a big box and cost under 3 bucks. Sadly I may never be back this way again, but one never knows, so I feel I must record this fabulous place for the rest of the world. If you happen to be in Beaver Dams, and jonesing for a mom and pop, do… DO try this place.

The quintessential diner experience. It has it all: food, interesting ambiance, and a rocking bakery.

My wife and I saw their sign and stopped in on our way north. A wonderful surprise. American fill ‘er up type food well prepared served by a friendly waitstaff. We enjoyed it so much we stopped in today on our way home. Our first experience wasn’t a fluke. Soups are very good. Breakfast is very good and served all day. Pies are outstanding. We don’t travel this way often, but when we do we will make a point of stopping in at Walker’s.

OMG, Walkers restaurant was amazing, make sure you go to the last page of menu where the burger specials are, comes with fries and homemade malt or shake, you just can’t get hand patted burger and real ice cream shakes like this any more, made right out front in the old metal cup and poured into a shake glass and topped off with whip cream and cherry, and to top it off they bring you the extra in the metal cup. Kristin was our waitress and she was a delight to talk to and gave the best service! Made my trip to Beaver Dam from San Diego.

Husband stopped off to buy a piece of pie. When you have a craving for pie and are in the area, Walkers is the place to go-even for carry outs.

Friendly folks and the service was good. The bread is freshly baked locally and was nice. The dumpling soup was VERY salty, as was most of the food. May try again with a different menu choice next time if I’m in the area, but wouldn’t go out of my way.

Server emma was very friendly and gave great service. Food took about a half hour though and the chicken cordon blu sandwich was impossible to eat with my hands. Had way too much hollandaise sauce and made the bottom. bread soggy. Other than that very enjoyable and we’d try again.

I stopped here for lunch a few weeks ago and though I was initially quite skeptical, I found myself pleasantly surprised. They had a huge menu with a lot of the standard diner fare you would expect, a dessert case full of delicious looking pie and other treats, and a specials menu that caught my attention with the hot turkey and gravy sandwich with mashed potatoes. Now, I LOVE hot turkey sandwiches. A lot. I generally feel pretty awful about myself after eating them because it is a huge plate full of white-ish food and almost pure carbs and fat, but man is it ever comforting. The sandwich really hit the spot and it was confirmed by the waitress that they roast their own turkey and the potatoes and gravy are made by them as well. The bread even comes from a local bakery. The potatoes and gravy were flavorful without being too salty and the turkey was moist and tender. Top notch and totally worth the guilt! The coffee was standard diner cofffee — nothing special, but it was filled often and it was hot. What more can you ask for at a small town diner? Anyway, next time I come back I will be trying a burger, fries, and a milkshake –because that is what will keep me going back for more.

I’m not sure whey I don’t see more 5 star reviews of thei place. My husband and I stumbled across this restaurant on 9÷7÷2014 while on a drive. They served the BEST cup of coffee that either of us have ever had. We did not want to leave when we were done, just because the coffee was so good. We ordered the traditional skillet type meals for breakfast. But, the BIG difference was in the quality. They were very flavorful and did not have all kinds of grease left over on our plates when we were done. The meal settled very well. When we were leaving, I picked up several items from the bakery and boy and I glad I did. They were all very amazing. If we lived closer, we would be frequent customers at this restaurant. Keep up the good work.

There’s not much for good eating in Beaver Dam, Walker’s is an exception. That said, there’s not a ton I have to say about the place. It’s a great little diner with a huge menu. In the world of small town diners, it holds it’s own and probably out-competes some offerings in much larger areas. Usually I cringe a bit when I walk into a place and it’s filled with the old bitties; I’ve never known the places old folks seem to like to be… well, very good. Walker’s is an exception to the rule, though. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The food comes quick, and the prices are low enough to make this a reasonable option for sure. If I ever pass through Beaver Dam again while hungry, I’d consider this one of the best options out there.

This place is fabulous. Back home in San Francisco you would pay twice as much for food this good. They actually make everything in the kitchen. The soups are wonderful. Walker’s is an excellentl spot.

What an adorable little gem of a place in Beaver Dam! The menu is extensive. Nay. Exhausting, but I stumbled across some baked chicken early in my perusal and didn’t find anything else that sounded as tasty! And boy howdy, was it. Delicious spices and crisp coating, not too greasy because it was baked. All around awesome meal and the dessert case looked rocking!

Took forever for our waitress to do anything. 20minutes to get our drinks another 20 to get our food on top of that. The restaurant was not even busy. Once we received our food it was just ok. Big disappointment…

20 years ago this was a fabulous place to eat. Lately it has gone really down hill. It’s nothing special… but where else can you eat in Beaver Dam? Small towns in Wisconsin have mediocre food and people are used to it… they don’t know any better. The pies are nothing special… they taste like they were frozen. The breakfast is okay. The place is very outdated and very crowded. The wait staff is okay but very busy.

This place has a big menu and attentive staff. It seems to be a local favorite with the older citizens. The food is ok. Avoid the sandwiches and melts. I’ve given them more chances than I can count and they are always soggy with butter. The pies behind the glass in front are fun to look at, but taste like they were made from boxes and pudding mixes. If you do go get a shake, they are the saving grace. Their salads are big and their dinner specials are always great for the price. Get cookies or brownies for dessert and skip the pies. It’s nice for a quick bite to eat on a budget, but I wouldn’t seek it out.

We ate here on Friday afternoon expecting a pretty big crowd given that there was an airshow in town. We parked and went inside, informing the hostess that we had a party of 4. The wait was about 4 – 5 minutes(not bad). The restaurant is probably the only decent place to eat in the area. Our server appeared to be new, she did not know the menu very well and had a difficult time retaining the information. I almost expected our orders to be wrong(luckily everything was perfect). There isn’t anything too exciting on the menu, regular diner food including breakfast options, lunch and dinner(sandwiches, soups, salads, etc). I had the chicken caesar wrap with grilled chicken on a spinach tortilla with side salad. Average. My other friends got the berry salad which was actually good and it came with a scone! How delicious! Staff were great about going around refilling coffee and waters. A busy restaurant with above average food compared to the local establishments. Be tempted by their pastries they have in the front. ALL looked AMAZING!
