One of the best kept secrets in Beaumont. Classy bar, friendly patrons, and the ability to taste test your liquor before you order a drink. Plus, they frequently serve some Zummo sausage at the end of the night. The bar is 30+ but if you treat others with respect, they may wave the age requirement. Not really a happy hour spot, but the kind of bar you put on your dancing shoes and expect an entertaining night out.

I went to Nell’s Place on my birthday, August 19, at the invitation of my brother who is a Beaumont resident. I was visiting from Key West, Florida. I was somewhat surprised when we walked toward the entrance and a sign was posted informing potential customers that there would be an additional charge if you used a credit card! Ok, strike one for a welcoming atmosphere. Then, upon entering the establishment, we were accosted by a beautiful woman who informed us that since it was Karaōke Night, Wednesday, mind you, there would be a 5.00 cover charge for each of us. Okay, we pay to hear someone else ruin a Frankie Beverly and Maze classic! :-) Strike Two, for welcoming, inviting, and classy. Nell’s Place might be a wonderful place for locals and a quaint place to socialize and meet new people, but it struck out for me on that day, and I doubt if I will ever go again when I am in town visiting relatives. Oh, strike three was the sheer lack of customer service and inattentiveness to those not seated at the bar. All the Locals were adequately taken care of at the bar while those seated on the floor seemed invisible to the Nell’s Place staff.
