Nice and quiet in the afternoon during lunch time. The lunch specials are good and the prices are pretty decent. I would highly recommend the green curry if you don’t mind something mildly spicy. The rolls are cute and small and yummy. The staff is pretty friendly but I feel like they’re constantly watching over you… So it’s a bit weird but they’re still very friendly. Go and try it!

The service is excellent. The Thai tea is amazing and delicious! However the food is mediocre. Prices are great but they don’t have drunken noodles which is a Thai classic. Their chicken pad Thai had way too many nuts. Overall I give it four stars

I went there for lunch special with my sister few months ago and it was a good experience. The lunch specials came with one choice of appetizer and it was good. Staff was friendly and food was good but nothing special. One thing i did not like about this place is that its really small so i felt like i was talking to someone sitting on the table next to us.

I had the lunch special for takeout– $ 7 each for pad thai and basil noodles and they were delicious! Serving was plentiful and the tofu vegetable soup complimented the noodles very well. Highly recommend for takeout. The atmosphere of the restaurant, however was dark. Wouldn’t recommend for a lunch date.

Ordered takeaway of the basics — green curry & pad thai. They weren’t bad, but for my taste, they seemed a bit lacking in flavor — almost like watered down.

What we ordered: 3 lunch specials — $ 6.95 which included 1 beef pad mild thai, 1 medium chicken pad thai and 1 medium basil chicken noodle. The basil chicken was my favorite but the medium spicy is pretty crazy, getting mild next time! Thai Coffee $ 3 — really good, I would get this again Thai Iced Tea $ 3 — always on point Shrimp Tom Yum Soup $ 5 — a bit too strong for my personal tastes Staff: Is very professional and efficient. Due to some eat24 difficulty(see below) one of my orders was not ready. They apologized and when things were finally resolved they had my order out to me in 5 minutes. Placing orders on eat24(this had no affect on my rating of Thai 101): I placed 3 separate orders to this restaurant through eat24 so I could be cheap and take advantage of their $ 2 off $ 10 promo. At no fault of the restaurant, eat24 did not send my 3rd order and I spent 30 – 45 minutes in the restaurant trying to get in contact with them for help. Those of you who run into issues with eat24, make sure to use their live chat because no one ever picks up the phone. Restaurant staff also let me know that there are always issues with contacting the company when issues arise.

Great place to get some Thai food. They have lunch specials for $ 7 and their happy hour is the bomb(4 – 9:30pm). Service here is great! The waiters are very friendly and the do their best to make sure you enjoy your meal. I come here all the time and I must say, the portion size for all of their dishes are pretty big. For appetizers I recommend the crispy calamari and the satay. The calamari is well season and crispy and the chicken satay is very savory. Their pineapple fried rice is very tasty, filled with large chunks of pineapple, cashews and your choice of protein(I always get the beef). Their pad se ew is also very good, the flat noodle tastes great and the green vegetables provide a nice crunch. This place deserves more customers. Unfortunately bell blvd isn’t the best place to start a restaurant as it’s not very active during the day. Do yourself and this place a favor, come here and chow down.

I usually trash every Thai restaurant I go to. Simply put, I have yet to find a half-way decent Thai restaurant in NYC. There are phenomenal Thai places in California. Even better ones in Japan. But NYC has been cursed with the worst Thai food in the world. That said, I’m not going to trash Thai 101. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still not Thai food. I’m guessing it’s a first order approximation of Thai food as interpreted by a Chinese chef. However, the difference is, I actually kind of liked the food as long as I don’t regard it as Thai food. Thai food is all about the juxtaposition between salt(fish, bonito, nam-pla) and sour(galangal, lemongrass, kaffir leaves). There’s none of that in any Thai place I’ve been to in this city. There’s none of it here, as well. However, I did find the food to be enjoyable, so I’m giving this restaurant 4 stars. So far, I am a fan. I also have to point out that unlike many Thai restaurants in the city, this restaurant is actually quite affordable. So they get a double-kudos from me. Firecrackers: A– I’m not sure what makes these«firecrackers». Perhaps the way they look? It’s shrimp in fried batter. There’s a semi-sweet /sour dipping sauce that comes with it. None of it spicy, so I guess the«firecracker» moniker must be based on looks. However, it was very good. I just wish the batter were crispier. Chicken Wings: D I don’t like sweet and sour chicken wings. If you like that kind of thing, you’ll love these wings. The wings themselves are average sized, not the gargantuan wings you sometimes see at Thai places. Tom Kha Soup: B I don’t consider this to be Tom Kha soup since there’s no fish paste or nam-pla(there’s no fish taste at all). However, the flavor is nice. I vastly prefer my tom kha soup. It should’ve had an almost soap overtone from kaffir lime leaves, but I could detect no lime leaf aroma in the soup. Tom Yum Soup: B Too sweet. Not enough nam pla. I couldn’t detect lemon grass in the soup. The soup was good, but just isn’t tom yum soup. I vastly prefer my tom yum soup.

Had dinner here last night, everything was great. The wine is cheap,(may not be the best bottle) but still a good price point. The appetizers are amazing. I highly recommend the wings. The Thai101 chicken dumplings are amazing! Everything was on point!

Planning a night in Bayside is easy. There are a slew of Manhattanized-priced restaurants with Long Island quality up and down Bell Blvd to choose from. Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t up for a bloated dining experience. Enter Thai 101. Nestled in between a slew of small storefronts off 39th ave and Bell, is an unassuming, railroad style space serving up delicious Thai food, however, I can not tell a lie when I say the extended happy hour brought us here! 4 — 9:30 pm? $¾/5 B/W/L! We decorated our table with Singha beer bottles and empty rock glasses formally known as ‘Princesses.’ A rosy mixed drink that every gentleman should court. Reservation are usually never a problem on the weekends and I’ve generally been here on the account of OTHER nearby restaurants having a long standby wait. This restaurant tends to mild your meal so you will have to be specific about your preferred spice level. The Tom Kha soup was delicious despite our longing for chili. Similarly, we were graciously satisfied by the Pad Ki Mao noodles and ANYTHING duck! Service is hit or miss, but I generally enjoy my meals here, particularly sitting in the back where there’s no cell reception, so you know… you can connect with people and food.

This is a very affordable Thai restaurant. They have $ 7 lunch specials and majority of their dinner entrees are $ 10. I ordered the chicken drunken noodles and a Thai iced tea. The Thai iced tea comes in a mason jar, which is cute. One of my biggest pet peeve when I order drinks is when they put too much ice & they filled it half way with ice. So I would skip the drink or ask for less ice because otherwise, it’s not worth it. The drunken noodles are really good and I didn’t find it too spicy! It could also have been because I was drinking Thai iced tea because my friend tried some of my dish and said it was really spicy. & her spice tolerance is much higher than mine. I thought the portions were big and I even brought back leftovers.

Thai 101 is definitely my go to Thai place in Bayside mostly because they’re dependable and the food is consistent. It’s also very clean inside and always has seating. I usually order the pad see ew with chicken, spicy eggplant stir fry, and the green curry with tofu plus extra vegetables(+$ 2), but have also tried the pad thai(ok, not the best), curry puffs(yummy), basil noodles(bleh, pass!), among others. Lunch special is really cheap and affordable! A limited $ 7 entrée menu that comes with a starter(think, a tiny 2 piece taro egg roll)? That’s pretty good bang for your buck. Happy hour beer prices are also pretty sweet. Nothing bad to be said about service or wait time. Why 4 stars and not 5? I find the noodle dishes sometimes a tad too sweet or just not really right 100%. Basil noodles didn’t taste much like basil — tasted like a sweeter pad thai sauce minus the peanuts, and the pad thai noodles I ordered once were very one-note and sticky. Also, they took forever on a pick up order once even though I called way in advance and the place had maybe four customers in it max.(PS, if you’re doing pick up/delivery, ask them to include A LOT of hot sauce. The one little container they sent me was filled 1⁄5th of the way — lol). But for the price, the cleanliness, and the pleasantness of the wait staff, this place is your place if you ever find that you have a hankering for some Thai food that’ll hit the spot.

Ordered a pick up of basil chicken noodle. Very flavorful and I enjoyed it. It was like a pad Thai but different sauce which I liked. Even the portion was smaller than usual but I was happy to finish my meal without having the rest go to waste. Cheap lunch but realized later she gave me the wrong change. Annoying … Next time I am getting lunch here I will probably get the pad Thai… And count my change!

I went for the lunch special not only was it VERY affordable but it was great tasting quality foods. I am huge Thai fan so I think I can put my two cents. I’ve been to soooo many Thai restaurants and I usually have great experiences with the service. This place was no exception the server was on point and the food sooo delicious. We only paid $ 15 for my husband and myself plus the tip. The fritter app was small but soo good I almost ordered a second. And my pork pad Thai was exactly what my pregnancy cravings needed. Will probably become a regular since I live 15 mins away and there’s always parking in the area. It was empty because we went pretty early after my Docs apt during the week, I am sure during the weekend would have a ton of people.

Stumbled across Thai 101 last night, lucky me! Originally planned on going somewhere else on Bell, but my girlfriend noticed the«Happy Hour until 9:30» sign, and there was no discussion that plans had officially changed. It was pretty empty, plenty tables open at around 7:30pm on a Tuesday night. Our waiter, though he didn’t speak much English, was extremely helpful and pleasant. He made food suggestions and of course suggested a happy hour drink.($ 5 cocktails, $ 4 wine and I believe $ 3 beer but don’t quote me on that). The food was affordable also. We ordered the firecracker shrimp, which wasn’t bad but not what I expected. It was shrimp wrapped in fried wonton and drizzled with spicy mayo. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with mixed seafood and cashews — amaze-balls!!! I can’t wait to come here with the hubby, so needless to say I def recommend and will be back!

I’ve passed by this restaurant so many times but never went inside. I was in the mood for some pineapple fried rice and Thai iced so my BF and I went in for dinner. It was pretty empty with only two other tables occupied. They had happy hour going with some drink specials. We shared the soft shell crab special in garlic sauce, pineapple fried rice, and roti. The roti the wasn’t what I was expecting. I thought it would be puffy and thin and large. But this was cut into triangles and a bit thick. Reminded me of little pizza slices which were dipped into the curry sauce. The Thai iced tea was pretty good though. The soft shell crab special came with some salad and rice. The waiter recommended it with some curry sauce but I didn’t want anything too spicy. The garlic sauce was good and it didn’t taste soggy. The crab was crispy and came with quite a few pieces. The pineapple fried rice was lacking in pineapple and seasoning. Even though it was such a large portion(enough for leftovers) it was quite bland. Little pricy for dinner but maybe come back to try their lunch specials.

Came here for lunch with my best friend on a Sunday. She suggested their $ 7 lunch special. At first I thought… that’s sketch, but decided to still give it a try. The place is small but clean and nicely decorated. It was empty, but it was that awkward time between brunch and dinner so I’ll give them a pass. We got the golden fritters and spring rolls as our appetizers(included in the lunch special) and of course Thai iced tea which was great. The fritters were okay. I liked the spicy sweet chili sauce on the side. For our entrée we went back and forth over who would be basic and get pad thai. My friend won(she’s a princess) so I went with the Sriracha chicken. It was an interesting dish. The chicken was good. Nothing spectacular, but it was tasty. Between our drinks and meals the bill was only about $ 22. Can’t beat that. I’ve definitely had better Thai, but for the money it’s worth it.

Great tasting Thai food that is light on your wallet while delivering delicious Thai flavors in the Bayside area. The lunch specials are $ 7 with your choice of an appetizer, definitely a winning combination. For appetizers you can choose between the Golden fritter or crispy rolls, the perfect sized bite to complement the lunch. The golden fritters are filled with minced shrimp and fried up golden brown and packed with flavor. The crispy rolls were nice and crunchy and stuffed with a vegetable filling. Also get yourself a Thai Ice tea, I did, cold and refreshing! Now for the $ 7 lunch special we ordered the basil beef noodle, the noodles were perfectly cooked and the basil was infused nicely throughout the dish, not too basil overpowering with the hint of basil in the background. The Bangkok chicken was delicious stir fried with veggies and bamboo shoots. I liked the way they shaped the rice into what resembled a traditional Thai headdress. It made me dance around the rice with my fork but after a few dance moves with the fork, it was time to chow down! Service was on point and I would like to return to try the dinner menu. Now don’t be fooled by the name of the restaurant. It may be called«Thai 101» but this is not an introductory restaurant in Thai cuisine, they already have passed all the prerequisites and graduated!

Did anyone say happy hour? Because that’s the only reason my girlfriend and I first stepped into this cute little Thai spot on Bell Blvd. $ 3 beers, $ 4 wines, and $ 5 cocktails~! We really enjoyed their apple martinis. Also ordered a few appetizers, since we were feeling a bit peckish. Curry Puffs, Crispy Spring Rolls, and Chicken Satay — all pretty good but portions were small. I have ordered delivery countless time from here through Seamless since. So quick and convenient! Always arrives at my doorstep in less than 20 minutes without fail. All their curries are a bit thin, but nonetheless delicious and spicy.(I especially recommend their red curry.) The $ 7 lunch specials come with a side of white rice and a choice of a starter, and are large enough for two meals. Super affordable, will definitely continue ordering from these guys again in the future. :)
