This is a great place. If I was rich I would probably go there every day… but unfortunately I have to keep my shopping here limited to when I entertain people and every now and then when I wanna treat myself to some real quality food. I have never had anything from this market that was anything less great. The prepped food is wow… the produce is top quality and always fresh… huge cheese selection, top quality meats. I’ve gotten catering acouple times and they have always been great. I am addicted to their homemade tortilla chips and salsa… seriously. Good store.

Bayside Milk Farm is overpriced, really small, and has incredibly slow customers that can get in the way of your overall shopping experience. So why come here? Why the four stars? The quality of their product cannot be beat. I work in the area and if I ever want a meal before 11am that isn’t a bagel, Bayside Milk Farm has been my go-to. Their packaged food is delicious and easily microwaveable. Or you can get a sandwich or pre-cooked food by the deli. It’s honestly some of the best food I’ve eaten, especially when you compare to other lunch options on bell. Their produce is incredibly fresh and they have just enough options to keep me coming back. I think there are better options when you’re shopping for the week. But if you live in the area or you’re stuck in the bell area, and you want some fresh organic produce or well pre-cooked meals, Bayside Milk Farm is great. P.S… the flower shop next to Bayside Milk Farm is incredible.

I must say this is the pricest super market around. But the customer service is why I give it 5 stars. Literally the sweetest kindest employees I’ve ever encountered. And most of the customers that come here are super sweet too.

Started working in the area a few months back and discovered this fine little market towards the end of the strip. Appreciate the great service behind the deli counter and the selection of fresh produce etc in such a confined space. The products leads more to an italian deli then general specialties, but hey have most of the necessities, and prices that aren’t ridiculous considering the location and size. All in all pretty good.

I love it here! Everything is always fresh & delicious! I love their lentil soup & tuna salad. Perfect for getting a few things without dealing with a large supermarket and crowd. I highly recommend for their to-go meals, like prepared salads, soups & wraps! Always tasty!

They do have great packaged food and tend to have the«one thing I forgot for my recipe» most of the time, but they’re pretty overpriced(and they never have the dates on them! Why??) — and I’ve never encountered a nice or even remotely friendly cashier during the 8 years that I’ve been frequenting this place, which is a huge turn-off. Nowadays, I try to hit up the other neighborhood grocery stores popping up as of late and try to avoid this place if I can.

Three stars for their great selection of food. The deli goes above and beyond for the neighborhood. Minus 2 stars for their cashiers who are always rude.

One of my favorite places in all of NYC! Great quality produce, Italian food staples, just incredible freshly prepared foods, great bread, some hard to find specialty foods.

They have great produce and the quality of the other food, including the deli and pre-cooked stuff, is consistently great. The staff are helpful and it is always clean. It is not the cheapest place, but I don’t have to throw away bad tasting, mushy or moldy produce, so it is worth it. Parking is tricky, but it is also worth it.

Prices are high, but the quality of the food is spot on. The staff is very friendly. The produce is juicy, the baked goods are fresh and I even tried the meats(which was also very good). For a quick meal, head to the deli(the food array is awesome).

I agree with the other posters that the prices are a bit high. but between the convenience of being able to walk to it, the high quality of most of their product, excellent prepared dishes, and supporting a neighborhood market, this is well worth it! I highly recommend the Capellini Bolognese a try — My Favorite prepared pasta when I don’t wan’t to or don’t have time to cook.

I come here, every once in a while, when I’m really in need of something quick vs driving over to Waldbaums for most of my groceries, mainly cuz the prices are a bit high for my taste. But I can’t complain. It’s convenient, have fresh products, and good service. Haven’t tried the deli yet, probably cuz I’m not into the whole deli thing like the NYers are, but I’m sure they do a good job due to the long lines I see there every time I do come in.

This is my regular stop for lunch probably 3 – 4 days a week. Always fresh food, great people work here. It’s also very convenient for a quick stop to pick up dinner when we don’t feel like cooking. Long time favorite, same owners who are on top of every detail. They have a lot of different dishes to choose from. There is a lot, street parking. it’s a place that you should definitely check out.

The location is supremely convenient and they have a front and back parking lot! The food is super fresh. I can tell because the bananas there are often green and look nicer than the ones from other supermarkets. Staff is friendly and nice. This is where I go to get stuff!

A great little supermarket. One of my favourites. It’s bloody expensive though. i hope they’re not losing out too much to Fairway which opened nearby a few years back.

Sorta new to the area and don’t have many quick places to stop in and grab something good so bayside milk farm has been my spot. They have ready to eat food and although the prices are high, it’s sometimes(or most of the time) worth it for the convenience. I’ve had mostly very nice encounters at this place and the deli guys are always very friendly, helpful and attentive. It’s often refreshing to deal with people who have honest opinions and seem like regular Joes. The only bad experiences I have had were with other customers who seemed like manhattanites, quite honestly, and didn’t appreciate the homey feel(and maybe pace?) of the milk farm. Whatever… I came to Unilocal tonight because a pretty young lady who was in there wasn’t treated very well and left saying something like, «you better believe I’m going to Unilocal this…» So naturally I was curious to see what she said and find out her side of the story, at least until a response is posted. I was on line at the deli and the woman(J.O. on Unilocal) was asking to see a manager, when the manager was pointed out, he had reacted in a surprising manner(at least compared to the manner in which I’ve been treated there.) «J.O.“‘s description of what happened was pretty accurate all the way through the part where she’s throwing her food on the floor. It made me laugh at the time and figured she was another manhattan-type woman who couldn’t deal with the more relaxed Bayside attitude. Then I read her review… …20 years? Come on, Bayside Milk Farm! Seemed like tonight might have been the last straw for J.O. I just hope I never reach that point. It’s the only place I have out here! I didn’t think much of what happened tonight, but can only imagine the frustration it would take for me to spike some olives on the floor because the manager didn’t treat me properly after 20 years of loyalty… in front of other, maybe not so loyal, customers. Shame on you, manager guy… I hope I’m valued as a BMF customer, even if I’m a Bayside transplant.

I’m sorry to write this review b/c I have been a very loyal customer to Bayside Milk Farm for over 20 years, but this one incident has ruined the way I view Milk Farm and as a result I will never step foot in this establishment ever again. Quality: In terms of quality and freshness, I give Milk Farm 5 stars. Prices: The prices are pretty high, in fact they are comparable if not more expensive than Whole Foods! And they’re not even organic, but that’s a separate issue. Service: Today I went into Milk Farm looking to pick up a few things for dinner and also to discuss the bad olives I had purchased just yesterday. As soon as I went in, I noticed an older Italian-looking gentleman, and asked if he was a manager. He didn’t answer the question but proceeded to ask me what I needed. I told him I had purchased a pint of olives yesterday and that they tasted bad. Long story short, he tells me «they’re supposed to taste that way.» I gave him a funny look and again, asked if a manager was present. He told me there was nothing he could do b/c they wouldn’t take it back. I said ok, disapprovingly and proceeded to collect the few things I needed for dinner and checked out. As I was checking out, I decided to ask the cashier if a manager was present. She answered«yes» and pointed to the deli. MISTAKE #1: Old man lied to me. As soon as I paid I went over to the deli and the line was long and people behind the counter looked busy. I went over to one of the people who worked there on the floor and kindly asked him to get the manager for me as I had an issue to discuss with him. He comes out and tells me the manager says he’ll be out in 5 minutes. MISTAKE #2: Putting the customer 2nd. Although upset about having been put off, I patiently wait, hoping he comes out in 5 minutes ready to discuss the issue in a civil manner. 5 minutes go by and I’m still waiting to speak with him. I get on line and kindly ask the guy behind the counter to let the manager know I am waiting to speak with him. The manager, PAT, turns around and abruptly says, «I KNOW. I TOLDHERTOWAIT.» Excuse me??? MISTAKE #3: Disrespecting the customer not only directly but in front of all the people in the store. I finally got so fed up that I took the olives and threw them on the floor! If they’re going to treat their customers like shit, then they deserve the same. I’m very disappointed by the blatant disrespect I received today from PAT, the manager. Pat, you’re dick and you just lost a whole family of customers. And in case you didn’t get the message, GOFUCKYOURSELF.

Live in the area, shop at and i’m a Fan of the Milk Farm but word of caution — watch the prices at the register to ensure you know what you’re paying. Recently went shopping and had items on sale which did not ring right at the register. Additionally many items aren’t marked with a price and depending what staff you ask for a price, same items has multiple prices. In today’s economy, everyone is watching their pennies and Milk Farms could do a better job with their price point transparency.

Convenient location for me; I live a 3-minute walk away. Some of their stuff is a little pricey, but one can find some nice deals. I’m not complaining about the prices; I love supporting a mom-and-pop store like this. They have an outstanding selection of stuff. The deli counter has weekly specials on cold cuts, and the spread of salads and entrées is just ridiculous(in a good, good way). One of the best cheese sections around, they’ve got dozens of quality cheeses from just about anywhere. Same for the little things: all kinds of jellies and jams, spreads, biscuits, crackers, etc.

Fact: I applied to work here when I was 16 years old. They didn’t hire me, but I’ve never let that impact my love for the Bayside Milk Farm. Well, maybe for a week or two. But we’ve long since reconciled. Fact #2: When I was a little kid I thought that Dr. Brown’s Black Cherry soda was something you could ONLY get at the Milk Farm(and delis). This place is a well-known gem in Bayside. For a small-ish store they really do have(almost) everything you could need. Their fruit is fresh, and their deli counter is filled with fresh meats and really delicious prepared foods and sides. Definitely be warned that it gets BUSY, and there is a small parking lot in the back, as well as some spots in the front — but at peak times you will wait for a spot. The store is filled with tons of delicious foods, but it doesn’t seem messy or cluttered. I do think that the prices can be a little higher than your average supermarket, but you’re definitely getting what you pay for — high quality and fresh food. They also cater! I currently live in Boston, but every time I make a trip to my parent’s house I request a few things from the Milk Farm: 1) foccacia 2) fresh-baked corn muffins 3) fresh-made guacamole. I think that the best thing about this place is that it’s family owned and they know all the regulars! Whenever I walk in with my mom they always say hi(and remember my name!) and ask me how«Baw-ston» is treating me.
