Great service, great food and great pricing. You can’t go wrong with a cold beer and a burger from this place. We had Emily as our waitress and she was so nice. Couldn’t ask for anything better from this establishment.

We have lived around this place for 3 years and this is the first time we have stopped in there. What a big mistake that was. This place is the bomb. The food is exquisite. Joe and I shared a pear salad with roasted pistachio nuts and also we shared the macaroni and cheese that had pulled pork on top of it. both were excellent. We only went for drinks and appetizers but look forward to going back for a big meal. I could smell the other stuff going to other tables and it smelled wonderful. I would highly suggest stopping by for a meal and not waiting as long as we did. Is one thing I might mention is the bar area is very small so it’s really not the place to go basically drinking but a great place to go for a full meal.

*Great customer service. *Tried the Clean Slate Reisling and enjoyed. But huge markup on the wine. You’re charging $ 10. a glass for a $ 14. bottle of wine, not cool!(We actually bought bottle because it made better sense) *Tried the Scallops & Risotto. Scallops were small, few on plate & risotto was super heavy. Not terrible. just not worth $ 32. Wish the menu had more to offer. Even the dessert menu could be better. There were multiple root beer desserts. odd Didn’t order anything. I feel as though because of the locality you feel it gives you the right to charge very high entrees & drinks. You can still run a successful business, but don’t be so greedy. I definitely think prices & menu can be tweaked.

I wanted to stay close to home for Valentine’s day, thought this place would be a great place with character to try out. I have to say my boyfriend and I were so happy with our choice. We came for dinner, the staff was great and very attentive. The food, AMAZING! Their ingredients are locally sourced which is a big plus. I had the Belle & Evans Roasted stuffed chicken breast. Delicious! He had the Meyer’s Marinated Flat iron steak. Cocked to perfection! Place is warm and cozy, makes you feel so comfortable. I highly recommend them based on my experience. I must come back soon!!!

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner. I always enjoy visiting this place especially around Christmas time. I wish they would open one on the north shore of LI. We ordered the Mac and cheese, cheese board, seafood bisque, and cheddar burger. Service was great and the waitresses are always friendly. Food is always consistently prepared well and fresh. 5 stars!!!

Everything about Grey Horse remains the same, except, unfortunately, the food. It’s a shame I have to downgrade them from 5-stars to 3, but losing their chef has taken its toll. Service is still spot-on wonderful, and they still make a great burger. The rest of the menu, unfortunately, has lost the finesse it used to have. Watermelon salad, I must say, is NOT: four gigantic chunks of melon, with a few bits of shaved fennel, and NO dressing of any kind. Sorry… And to charge $ 12 bucks for 50 cents worth of ingredients? Sorry… not buying that as «inventive». The food is still«good», but no longer exceptional. The ambiance and bar scene remain excellent, however.

I loved the feel of this restaurant — it feels like you’re eating at home. The menu has variety, the drink menu was hard to choose from because of so many delicious choices and the service was good. To start we all got our own mac and cheese — very cheesey, very good. The people in my group ordered: Salmon over ratatouille — salmon was cooked nicely, person wasn’t into the ratatouille Fish and chips — fish was«alright» but fries were soggy Cheeseburger with cole slaw — burger was very tasty, would definitely try again Gnocci with kale and brown butter parmesan — definitely a lot of kale, gnocci was a little crispy which was different than what I’ve ever had before. Would’ve liked it better with less kale. For dessert, we had: Tates cookie sandwich with vanilla ice cream Ben and Jerry’s cookie dough ice cream After a nice meal, we were all stuffed but we enjoyed ourselves and we would go back and try other food options.

This is my fourth time at this restaurant(I drive 35 minutes to get here because the food is that yummy!) I love the food so I keep coming back despite the slowish service. I love that the menu is constantly updated to accommodate the freshest ingredients and the creation of seasonal dishes. I must admit that I am sad that the roasted chicken with the sweet potatoe gnocchi is gone because that is a top 10 best dish for me. I got the fried chicken this past time and it was a bit dry but I still enjoyed it. The mac and cheese appetizer and the pear salad are both incredible. I must also add — I dont remember our waiter’s name but he was one of the best waiters I’ve ever had. My whole family of 10 came to dinner on a saturday night and we are not an easy bunch to take care of. We joked and were loud and our waiter joined right in making the night more entertaining.

I used to come to this restaurant as a child(with my parents). It was called Hans and Katy’s back in the 1970’s. I waited a long time to come back, probably over 30 years. Boy, am I sorry I waited so long. My friend and I had an absolutely fabulous meal here last night, 7÷11÷2015. Our waitress(Emily) suggested I try Grey Goose Vodka in my Martini. It was the best Martini I have ever had. Thank you Emily, you are a top notch server who made every moment of our meal memorable because of your knowledge of the menu and the efficiency of your service. I had Fried Oysters, Poached Salmon and the Fruit Triffle for dessert. All of the food was incredibly delicious. My friend ordered the Skirt Steak with Fingerling Potatoes. Unfortunately the steak was overcooked, but they removed the entrée from our bill so we were more than satisfied how Irene(the owner) handled the kitchen blunder. I’s like to make special mention of the Ratatouille, which was the vegetable side dish that accompanied my Salmon. It was absolutely the best vegetable side dish I have ever had. I plan to go back just to have the Ratatouille again. To sum my meal up, I am a classically trained chef and a Foodie, this was, by far, one of the best meals I have ever had. Try the Grey Horse Tavern, you will love it too!!!

You are my favorite place when dining Local. Went for brunch today and enjoyed chicken and waffles. Our waitress Lauren was a gem. Wait staff is always so pleasant. Great live music with two guys on two acoustic guitars. Ryan’s summer shandy is the best kept secret on the south shore. I love you GHT

I love this place. There hasn’t been a time that I’ve come here that was a bad time in any way. The drinks are great, the wait staff are personable and helpful, and there’s always at least one excellent vegetarian option. That said, if it’s a weekend, definitely make a reservation, because it can get busy. Every time I’ve come the menu is different. Check the website to have a look before you go.

Wonderful food combined with unfriendly management and rather steep prices. I realize they use good ingredients, and have no complaints about taste or quality of meals, however prices are rather high for what one gets. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive, but each time I have been there the hostesses acts as if I dropped into her house unexpectedly. Despite having made reservations I could not have been made to feel less welcome. The wait staff displayed an entirely different attitude and were beyond pleasant this time, as well as during previous visits. The management is fortunate that everyone doesn’t share their dour outlook or the place would be empty. Each time I have been there it has been like this. Despite the quality of the meals, I would not have returned had I not been given gift card and unless given another gift, will not be likely to return.

Farm to table food. Service has always been great even when they are packed out. You gotta check out the bar, it’s like being in a time machine to another era. Always ask what the specials of the day are when dining here.

after hearing many great things about grey horse i was finally able to check it out… overall a terrific meal in a very nice setting with some great staff our group of 4 started with one of the appetizer specials, a set of four(how convenient) grilled cheese sliders that were really fantastic and the house made pickles that accompanied these crispy yet gooey masterpieces put them right over the top dinner for me was the mac & cheese with pulled pork added on… i thought it was very tasty & filling, but unfortunately i was left a tad disappointed after tasting wifey’s which had bacon instead of the pulled pork… envious is probably a better description than disappointed, that was quite possibly the tastiest mac i’ve ever tried… dining partners had a meatloaf special and a pear salad with chicken that they enjoyed as well while not usually ones to order dessert, our servers were unusually adept at upselling their customers(more on this later) and so we wound up with coconut gelato that was very reminiscent of almond joy and really good, as well as a bread pudding that i found to be extremely dense & somewhat disappointing… dining partners left me again envious when i saw their root beer float getting back to these hard selling servers — as i stated earlier they were super friendly and accommodating from start to finish, but they also knew how to push all the right buttons when it comes to enticing the clientele to buy more in terms of drinks food and dessert… if they had merely taken our orders the bill would have been considerably less, but their friendly pushiness roped us into extra drinks as well as the desserts, also best to keep an eye on entrée prices — while the sandwiches, burgers etc were reasonable there were some much pricier offerings as well(if i’m remembering correctly the meatloaf my buddy ordered was close to $ 30)…i guess what i’m saying is if you’re on a budget stick to the basics & don’t be sweet talked into the deliciousness of their featured goodies like we were one other word of advice: the parking — it’s a very small lot, and a very busy place — you can park on the street and walk right in and you’ll probably save yourself alot of headache by doing so definitely a spot to check out, great food and all that — just watch what you’re ordering if you’re not looking for an expensive night out

I recently came here with a group of friends for lunch when we were visiting the pumpkin patches on Long Island. The atmosphere is homey with a touch of pub flair. There was an Arsenal game on while we were there… appears to be where all the Long Island Arsenal fans gather… random, but fun. The food is mostly locally sourced and the restaurant prides itself on using the freshest ingredients. My boyfriend is still talking about the Mac and Cheese at Grey Horse, and he isn’t a huge fan of cheesy things. He said the cheese and pulled pork combination in the mac and cheese is perfection. I loved my fish and chips, and everyone else seemed very happy with their dishes as well. Prices are not cheap, but not overly expensive either for the quality of food. Overall, a great restaurant for a low key night out or lunch. I would happily return.

American Wow– pretty intersting restaurant that is very easy to miss. Having seen the Grey Horse on Unilocal many times and never actually going in there, we decided to give it a whirl. Located in an old house, you can drive past it in a snap — it really blends in with the neighborhood. We parked and headed in — we only hit the bar area so revue is for that portion only. The bar is the way I like them: dark, lots of wood and with candles. Awesome. Bartender was a champ both times we went. Took pride in his job and was happy to explain the menu. The bar proper is good sized and sort of zig-zags to maximize the amount of seats — plus a very pretty back bar area. The menu is not what I would call extensive but there is generally enough items that everyone should be able to find something. There are specials daily too from what we saw. We decided to try a few things to get a feel for the different varieties of offerings. One of the apps was some pickled veggies– wow, they really knocked it out of the park with that. Very tart and tasty. Nice. I had the black bean, corn and quinoa burger off the menu and it was very good. We skipped dessert as we were full from our dinners and drinks. The place gets hopping with plenty of diners — so plan accordingly. Restrooms were clean and well kept. Parking lot is behind it.
