I am lucky enough to work in the area so I can frequent this place for lunch and happy hours. Comfy atmosphere with some«hipster“ness. I’ve never been disappointed. The quesadilla is a favorite for an appetizer and the hummus is fabulous. Although I’m not vegan, they are vegan friendly. I do appreciate the healthiness of many of their dishes. I know they’re expanding soon and am looking forward to see what they are doing with the space.

This place has really amazing food. I always get the Mediterranean plate to share with a friend and the lentil burger is delicious!

It seems they care enough to comment and try to make a bad situation right, so that’s nice, but it’s over and done with. I’ve gone back n forth with how I feel about Tula… Not sure if I’ll go back but if I do maybe it’ll be a bit more positive next time.(Can’t be worse)

Came here with a friend for dinner in August and this review is long overdue because I’ve been thinking about the meal ever since. Just the meal, not the friend ;) I’m not vegetarian but once in a while I do like veg options when I go out to eat since I don’t cook veggie at home too much. Last I checked my friend was vegan(snore) and he had plenty of options here at Tula’s. He chose the vegan Reuben sandwich and I went with the vegetarian moussaka. I didn’t try his sandwich; he said it was«ok» but not what he expected and that it was kind of disappointing. But I attribute that to user error because I probably wouldn’t have ordered a Reuben sandwich for dinner when there were so many other more exciting options on the menu. My mouth was watering over something called«Dragon Love» that I thought he was going to order so when said to the waitress, «I’ll have the Reuben» I was disappointed that I wouldn’t be trying a bite of the intriguing Dragon Love. The first of many let downs that night(but after we left Tula’s) ;) On the other hand my moussaka was out of this world and so filling I only finished about 1⁄3 of it. The sauce was amazing and everything about it was just fantastic. It rivaled a meat moussaka at a Greek restaurant. What a shame I forgot the doggy bag in his fridge, I was looking forward to a nice midnight snack and lunch the next day — that’s how big the portion was, I could’ve gotten 3 meals out of it. Well I could have — maybe not a large, hungry, full-sized man LOL. We didn’t order dessert, I was too stuffed. Maybe(no, definitely) next time. Oh, and the décor was warm, cozy and eclectic and there was a nice bar area. Loved everything about this place. Downtown Bay Shore — who knew?! Not I.

Everything about this place is special. The ambiance is Moroccan-inspired, which is warm and inviting. There is a good deal of seating and about a dozen bar stools. Even so, make a reservation for the weekend. The bartenders and bus staff are wonderful. The waitresses are pretty good. Drinks– I don’t typically drink alcohol, but I love the creative and seasonal cocktails. They also make a mean dark and stormy with some spicy ginger beer. Great wine selection, but no tap beer. Food– everything is cooked fresh, so be patient. There is an emphasis on homemade, healthy, and organic ingredients. They even purchase local produce. There is special attention paid to feeling all types of eaters– vegans, omnivores, and gluten-free. The soups are lovely; I particularly like the mildly spicy sweet potato and pumpkin soup. I like the cous cous salad and vegan walnut burger. And dessert! Definitely try the chocolate peanut butter pie; you would never know its vegan with the creamy cheesecake texture.

LOVE this restaurant! One of the very few vegan/vegetarian/health conscious restaurants you will find on LI. Dragon Love, Tula Cobb, and the Shrimp Quinoa are my favorites and I’m never disappointed when I try something new. Definitely a must try!

Love this place, amazing food, cool atmosphere. I’ve been here several times. AWFUL service last Saturday. Walked in at 5:15 with a friend. The blonde hostess(who may also be an owner? — I’ve seen her before) greeted us by saying«You have reservations?» My friend and I looked at each other, laughed, and said«No, we didn’t think we needed reservations for 5:15.» Hostess immediately said, rudely, «I can let you stay for an hour, but I have 6:30 reservations you’ll need to be gone for.» OK. I really wanted to leave, but my friend had never been before and I wanted to let him enjoy the food I had been RAVING about. Now, if you’re telling people they have to be out in about an hour, you’d think service would be quick. We sat for at least 10 minutes before we got water, and another 5 before our waitress came over(who was so great, helpful, and informative — my negative review is not geared toward her, but to the hostess.) She recommended drinks, we put in our order for drinks and an app. Took FOREVER for our drinks and starter to come out, and even longer for our order to be placed. We weren’t even served our food until 6:15, and the rude hostess continually came by to look at our table to see if we were close to being done. I get that you need the table, but I’m pretty sure rushing out paying patrons is not the way reservations typically are supposed to work. Food was delicious, drinks were great. Wish we would’ve had time to order desserts because they’re typically outstanding. It’s a shame that such poor service will keep me away from this restaurant for a good while. Guess next time I’ll make reservations for a 5:15 dinner…

I’m new to the Vegan lifestyle and have been looking for new places to try on the island and stumbled upon Tula’s. This place is seriously amazing! I came during lunch so the menu was limited but 9⁄10 they will serve you items off the dinner menu. I got the falafel appetizer and the tempeh reuben… they both were absolutely amazing!!! The service was great. Zero complaints here. I definitely will be coming back.

The atmosphere of this place is awesome. Dimmed lights with candles and very cool halloween decorations since it is October. Interesting portraits on the wall and staff is really nice. Great place if you’re a vegetarian or like eating healthy. They have a wide selection of dishes from shish kabobs to miso pasta to eggplant. Don’t expect burgers and fries here or any fried food. I wasn’t a huge fan of the food. We got the Mexican pizza which was a good appetizer but a little too much vegetables in it.(i’m not a big vegetable fan.) I ordered the miso shrimp pasta. An average dish, not too much flavor but i was full. The servings are pretty big. I Would give it a 2nd try. Their Mediterranean dishes looked very good.

I love this place because they make the best vegan food i’ve ever had. The hummus is awesome and the honey baked brie is fabulous. I always get the grilled shrimp spinach salad because its great. The bartenders and wait staff are wonderful. You can tell a well managed restaurant when you see it and this one certainly is. Worth a try for sure.

Not a fan. The food needed seasoning. I shouldn’t have to ask for Tahini sauce to make my dish palatable. So disappointed. I LOVE Grouper & they destroyed it! Overdone, tasteless &NOTCHEAP! The best thing was the key lime pie & that was only passable. No bueno!

So we don’t live in the area anymore, but we love visiting Tula every time we are around. We love them enough that we had them cater our wedding back in May. So this review is mostly about their catering. Everything was perfect. The food. The servers. The prep and clean up. Flawless. And we had quite a tall order: cater a vegetarian wedding for 100 people. We started with visiting the restaurant to plan everything out. Lina and Jackie were there waiting for us and walked us through the whole process. They helped us pick food out, the amounts of each dish, and how it would be served. They were both very helpful and friendly. And the cost wasn’t bad at all! On the big day, the three servers arrived on time and ready to go. They didn’t need to be told anything — they were utterly professional and all knew exactly what needed to be done. And again, they were all super friendly and on top of everything. All the courses came out exactly as we wanted to them, and they were all delicious! Oh the Tempeh Reuben… I still think about it. One of the servers even walked each tray of appetizers over to my father who has mobility problems, so he got to try everything! That made his night! And at the end of it all, the servers cleaned up everything and left the place spotless. I wasn’t even expecting them to clean, so that was an amazing surprise at the end of the night! I cannot thank Lina, Jackie, and the rest of the people at Tula Kitchen enough. We had a great wedding and they were a huge part of making that all happen!

Some of the best food on the Island. I get the Tempeh Reuben every time I get lunch there, it’s seriously incredible. My parents, who don’t like to eat particularly healthy, love this sandwich. The atmosphere is super romantic and and has a modern/antique feel. Realllllly good for date nights. You’ll see when you get there– it’s beautiful.

Excellent lunch with my cousin and her son. We were there for the lunch hour so it was pretty busy. Outside seating looked lovely, indoors is dark and inviting, though. This would make a perfect place for a date spot(as I see in the reviews) or a nice family dinner. As it was we were a little underdressed– most people weren’t in sweats or t shirts, just nicer casual gear like maxi dresses and polos. The lunch itself was delightfully fresh! I love veggie/vegan places that are health conscious. The menu made it really difficult to decide what we wanted to spilt. In the end we had the mediterranean platter to start. The hummus was so bright and lemony, it was a perfect treat for a summer lunch. The tzatziki was a little thicker than I like it but still very good. We also split the turkey and feta burger. I want to be fair: it was obviously fresh meat that was well cooked and seasoned with an interesting twist(carmelized onions inside). I just didn’t care for it enough to order it again. But if curious it is worth the try. Next time I’m going all veg with the lentil burger. The sweet potato salad was lighter than traditional potato salad and very tasty. By virtue of having my cousin’s son with us we got to see and sample kids menu. It’s age appropriate and the grilled cheese was super(hey, we have to taste test it). Too full for dessert on this visit. Will definitely be back in the near future.

My most recent visit to Tula might tempt me to become a regular! The service, food & cocktails were all excellent. I especially enjoyed the Mediterranean Platter and Key Lime Pie. The décor has been updated since the last time I was there and the atmosphere is very romantic and relaxing.

Another great experience at Tula’s! Tried a couple more appetizers this time since we were in a larger group but opted for the same main meal Shrimp Orzo because it’s just so damn delicious! The spinach pie was pretty good — but only four small pieces that was a let down. The falafel was very flavorful but could of been more crispy on the outside. We also got mussels which were a larger appetizer for perfect for sharing. The shellfish was very fresh the broth flavorful and the melted Parmesan shavings added a nice saltiness to the broth when dipping the garlic toasts it came with. Again if you haven’t been here — Get there!

Tula Tula, where do I begin this place is a gluten free, vegans dream. BUT the best part about it is I can bring my entire family here because they have fish and check on the menu also. The options are so hard to choose from, they all just sound so so good. I have been here about 3 or four times and have always tried different things and have never been disappointed! But I am never on Long Island so I cant make this place a weekly thing. I finally came back with a whole group of my family a few weeks ago… although we had to wait in the parking lot for it to open on Saturday… kinda weird they don’t have lunch hours but what ever. Now the ambiance is great, its very dark and romantic and decorated appropriately. The service is what really puts this place over the top, let be honest I am the pain in the ass person who asks to make a ton of substitutions and really tailor my meal to what I want given my allergies and strange tastes, waiters and waitresses often cant stand me and wont do what I ask. But our waitress didn’t even bat an eye at my requests she made everything happen and then some. So VERYACCOMMODATING is a phrase I would use to describe them. Needless to say just come in and try for yourself, they also give you an on the house bean salad appetizer with pita bread. This place is not to be missed.

Came here for dessert after the Long Island Wing Festival. We were initially concerned(3 people), that they would make us pay a fee for splitting our 2 desserts, but we were assured that this wouldn’t be the case. They actually make you pay $ 5 if you want to split an entrée. I really don’t like places that do that… Their desserts came out so quickly that we were a little suspicious, and rightfully so. We ordered the peanut butter chocolate cake — and it was CLEARLY frozen. Like, we had to let it sit for a moment to defrost so that we could eat it. Look, I get that you might need to freeze things, but I shouldn’t KNOW that. The texture was also a bit grainy like it had been frozen. FAIL, too bad because the flavour wasn’t that bad. As for the«cheesecake» that we also got, again, it was clearly frozen but the flavour was better. I’ve heard that the food is good, and the plates that came out looked pretty amazing, so I’d be down to try the food here again, provided that it was prepared fresh.

I absolutely love this place! My friend and I were trying to find a place to have lunch this afternoon that didn’t involve sushi, since that’s all we ever eat. She has been here numerous times and said such good things, and I trust her opinion, so I figured, why not? I scoped out the menu and was sold very quickly. The 3 of us arrive around 2pm and were seated at a table close to the door. The second I walked through the door I was hooked. The décor is adorable and unique. I loved the large bar! Our waitress was very sweet and helpful since I was having a hrs time deciding what to order! We started with drinks first. My friend ordered a green tea martini and my sister ordered a blood orange pellegrino. I decided to go with 6oz of white Zinfandel. I really like that most of the wine options were 3oz, 6 oz, and a full bottle(full bottles are $ 5 off on Wednesdays.) This allows you to be able to try a few different wines without breaking the bank since the 3oz’s were around $ 3 – 4 each! The wine I picked was light and refreshing! Now, onto the food. My friend had the mussels and adored them, my twin sister had the Mediterranean spread, and I had the turkey sandwich with lemon potato salad. I asked for the turkey in a wrap. It was amazing. Turkey was hot, Brie was melted and perfect, apples and honey Dijon were an amazing addition! I’m not a potato salad fan, but I was assured these would be good. They were roasted red potatoes covered in this incredible lemon vinaigrette! My meal was perfection. They have a long lunch menu and each offering is only $ 11.95! Can’t wait to come back for happy hour and dinner with my fiancé!
