I’ve been here quite a few times and have always left satisfied. The food is good, service is so-so, and the beer is cold. Besides the food tho, the décor is AWESOME! Steins all over! So unique and really makes the place. If its nice out they also have outside seating which is always a nice option.

My favorite place to grab a drink and dessert! If you have a sweet tooth ask for the dessert tray and the waiter will bring out a huge tray of different desserts and you can choose which one you want. It’s nice because you can see before you choose. I also love Lindeman Framboise, it is considered a beer but it tastes like a very fruity wine. Overall it’s a cool place to hang out where there is no tv and you can sit a talk.

Went here on a Saturday night for a beer and some food. Ended up getting the schnitzel which was good. About 15 beers on draft with good prices for high point beers. Waitress was fast and friendly, with outstanding ambiance. Very authentic German beer hall feel.

I’ve to the Stein Haus twice so far and planning to go many more times. The first time was for the DANK, German American National Congress, Oktoberfest and the second time for the WurstFest German Buffet evening. Both times the German Cuisine/food was excellent, the Schnitzel and Spaetzle were much better than what is served/sold at the HUGE restaurants in Frankenmuth. Each item I enjoyed from the buffet was excellent however I only picked German foods to savor and was stuffed from the many choices I chose. Please be aware the buffet is huge and I only took small portions of each item to eat. I’m guessing the«American» dishes would have been just as tasty. The Polka band played a very nice selection, variety, of polkas. There is a very large selection of family-owned craft beers and imported German biers to choose from too. My only issue with the Stein Haus is the extremely unpleasant yellow, very dim, lighting in the room where the banquets are held. The 14 watt/60-watt equivalent CFLs in the light fixtures should be replaced with either 100 watt equivalent LED bulbs or 23 watt/100 equivalent CFLs bulbs. If there was better lighting in the buffet room I would have given a 5 star rating.

A gem in the midst of this small town of mediocre bars and restaurants. The beer and ambiance get 5 stars without a doubt. I’d say the food is 4 stars considering price and you get exactly what you would expect in this town; you’re not going to get a meal ANYWHERE in Bay City that will blow you away. Love music on Tuesdays and I’ll definitely be back next time I am in town.

Just terrific atmosphere — beautiful wooden bar with steins lining every spot of wall. In town for one night and I happened in on Tuesday night with the Celtic music session and if just all felt right. The sausage platter was terrific and I took the bartender’s recommendation on a draft beer. I’ll be back if I’m in Bay City again.(nice to have a good beer with no TVs at the bar — so rare)

Beers are good, staff is nice. Always the spots for retirement parties or big gatherings because of the side room. Too bad that they use the kitchen from the Atruim. Overpriced food with disappointing flavors or over done.

TERRIBLE service! Awesome environment but takes way to long to get any kind of service, and the service you so get SUCKS. Stop in, have a beer but don’t bother trying to get food. Waste of time.

Darned cool atmosphere! My husband loves German-American food so we had to stop and the place didn’t disappoint. Great beer listen, good food, and fun conversation with locals and staff. Totally worth the stop!

I was in town for a convention and decided to try some german food. This place looks lovely, lots of old carved wood, a very old bar which I imagine it to be quite old, lots of beer stiens and a good german theme. There were a few people at the bar and one other table seated. After I sat at a high top and waited for 10 minutes for one of the two waitreses that were gossiping in the corner to finally come over, I felt more like I was interupting their night. I asked what they recomended and the waitress didint have much to say. I finally ordered a decent sounding beer, which was tasty. About half way through my beer the waitress finally came back to take my order. I decided on the schnitzel which I love. Well when it finally came out it was very dry, the potato salad was ok and so was the cabage even though there wasnt very much of it. I finished my second beer and of course waited for the gossping waitresses to finally come over so I can pay my tab. I think they are used to just filing up beer at the bar then actually serving food. I was very dissapointed poor service, medicore food, but a very nice atmosphere.

It is what you would think of, when you think of an old German Tavern. The atmosphere is great, and the service is fast and friendly. Since connected to the Atrium, the food is also great. What is also a bonus, is that about every other day of the week has music. But not the blaring pop music that you have to scream over to hear each other. The music is more traditional, especially on Tuesdays where it is Celtic Jam night(my weekly treat for myself). The Haus is known for is Beers on Tap, which is their bigger draw.

For drinks and atmosphere The Stein Haus is excellent. I would recommend it as a place to take a guest for an after dinner drink, when it’s not slam packed busy. It’s beautiful inside, a practical museum of German antiques. They offer a lovely patio,(bier garten) which is great in warm months. I would not recommend it as a dining experience.

I got the Italian sausage pesto and shared the sausage platter. I’m going to make this short and sweet. The service was good, the beer selection was good, the food was blah. I am all for trying things again, but it would be difficult for me to. Sorry guys. It just wasn’t my jam.

The closest thing to an old-world biergarten I’ve ever been to in the USA. No TV’s. Subtle German music in the background. Great décor. Friendly staff. Good beer selection of local brews, Hofbrau, and sometimes they get Warsteiner. Ample food choices. Four times a year(Oktoberfest, Wurstfest, Fasching, and Maifest) they have special buffet and authentic German Brass Band playing in the attached restaurant and the music cheerily spills through. People come here to talk and drink. I wish they would make us check our phones at the door.

This place is big. Big and German. It has the largest collection of steins I’ve ever seen. It has dim lighting accenting off dark hardwood bar tops and original brick walls. When I went there, the two-man live entertainment was well talented. The food menu was massive, a bit overwhelming. But the drink selection was top notch. Great place to go in Bay City

So… They do have a great beer selection and I appreciate German beer on tap. However the service was awful. The waitress was an idiot who then tried to pull me to her level. I asked if the hofbrau beer was the wheat beer or normal. She then told me it had a little wheat in it… Then I looked confused and told me that it is like miller or Coors. Yeah, that is not a wheat beer. The bigger reason I was confused because they had hefe-weissen in a bottle. I got a schnitzel(which I was not permitted to change my side) and soup. My husband had a pesto pasta and chili. Chilli was fantastic. My soup was OK(but my cup was only half full which was annoying). Entrée wise… Potato salad was way overcooked and had no flavor but bacon and vinegar. My schnitzel was pounded improper and had a hole in the middle and it multiple pieces. It did taste good. My husbands pasta was way way overcooked and the sausage was mushy. I noticed that most people were there for beer and maybe a neighborhood bar is its place in the community.

The food tasted like typical greasy bar food, and I actually was not impressed with their beer selection. Didn’t live up to my expectations ATALL

Review #2… Waitstaff is horribly overworked. Repeated experiences where we have watched the owners sit while the staff ran themselves ragged. If they can’t figure out how to properly staff, they should allow someone else to do it. The beer selection is top notch so the staffing issue is very disappointing. Owners appear to have no concern for their staff and I can’t promote or encourage people to visit.
