This is an excellent stop on the Rail Trail that runs through Bay City and into the Bay City State Recreation Area. There are restrooms that are well kept(or at least were when we were there), helpful staff ready to answer questions and promote activities(they had a self-guided nature ‘mystery’ hike going on), and an great little museum outlining the history of the Great Lakes Region, Saginaw Bay, Bay City and the local area. They also have an excellent collection of animals preserved by taxidermy representing the local fauna. There was even a display of the only Wolverine to be found having lived in MI, apparently despite it being the ‘Wolverine’ state there haven’t been any there for at least 200 years. It was also a nice spot to find out about local happenings, including concerts, events, races(5Ks, 10Ks and such) and other fun stuff!
