Very few places can imitate The once hipster vibe of Rainey street but olive or twist is pretty good. Kudos to the bartender and his suspenders! I’ve had two drinks here. The Moscow mule had a good ginger zing but little carbonation. The hot toddy was perfect for a cold night in leaving visions of cinnamon spiced fairies dancing on my tastebuds. Prices are high-ish but it’s worth the atmosphere. Parking might be bad with rum house in the same lot, but a determined person will make it work.

I had brunch on Sunday at Olive or Twist and I must say I was delighted by the excellent service and awesome adult beverages. The food was priced very well but was a lil under cooked and the portions were small, however still satisfying. The staff was fast and friendly and very skilled on making any drink to perfection.

I have always had such a great experience. Bartenders are attentive and not arrogant. Informative suggestions are all I’ve ever received besides great delicious drinks! I love the atmosphere and vibe.

Hands down, the best happy hour in Baton Rouge because their cocktails are amazing. Top shelf liquor and top shelf quality. Food is great too, one my favorite(if not my favorite) spots in Baton Rouge.

LOVELOVELOVE!!! My friends and I went for brunch last Sunday. The drink special is amazing and the food is filling! We actually hung out for a while drinking mimosas. Had a great time checking out a new hangout. Loved the staff. So fun and all have great personalities! I will be there soon!

This place has a lot to offer including some delicious drinks from knowledgeable bartenders. Each drink was a donkey punch to my tastebuds. The layout is cramped and it seems as if they may have outgrown the space of this location. The parking lot is a hot mess as well. Go for happy hour and you won’t be disappointed. Recommended for sure

This is THE go-to spot for late night drinks… or as I like to call them… night caps. In Baton Rouge… I’ve found it difficult to keep the party going into the wee hours, so on the rare occasion I’m moved to chase the sun… I know I can depend on Olive or Twist to be open a smidge later than most spots. They have an array of drink options that range from old fashioned classics to a fun contemporary adult spin on snow cones. They have some legit food options and I’ve tried a few… some I love like the shrimp dish that was tangy and crunchy and yum, others I’ll pass on in the future like the shrimp and grit cake I ordered. Pictures I’ve seen look AMAZE, however my order was clumpy and falling apart… Less like cake more like pile lol. Tragic. Any way, overall I love this place. The décor is comfy and welcoming. The bar tenders are usually rather attentive and they dress spiffy with the likes of suspenders and bow ties. Oh… And they have cake. Nuff said. Lol

Why, oh why, hadn’t I known about Olive Or Twist when I lived in Baton Rouge?! First off, I must say that I did have a tiny bit of trouble finding them but for anyone that loves this spot, I’d hate for too many people to know about it. More booze than I can fathom drinking in at least 20 lifetimes stack the walls. Some bottles only accessible by a little rolling library ladder that you wish you could ride like Belle in“Beauty in the Beast” but instead of books, you’re singing about booze. It’s dimly lit for more intimate conversations with little comfy seating areas, a lengthy bar, and some outdoor seating. It was late(11ish) but their kitchen was still open(not sure if this is usual but I thanked the Gods!) and scarfed down some delicious crawfish beignets and various other things at our table that I can’t recall but were all really good! While their cocktail list is amazing and will make you ooh and ahh, I went with an Old Fashioned that they prepared very well. The service was amazing(I’m talking to you Oliver!) and I’m pretty sure we were there till closing but by no means were we rushed out. I will DEFINITELY be back! Would definitely suggest for a date night or for light bites with a couple of friends. Thanks for showing us such a great time!

Had a delish Brie plate yesterday on all day happy hour and told the wife today I really enjoy going with her here for a little escape for a relaxing libation and now a bit to josh on. Now about 10 trips for me so I can officially put this place on my local faves list.

I’ve been here a couple of times since my friend is obsessed with their happy hour. Haha! I really do enjoy this bar! I just wish they had all these cool places for me to enjoy when I lived in Baton Rouge for 3 years! I think my favorite happy hour drink is the french 75, least favorite is Moscow Mule. I had better mules… Service is good. Clean bathrooms. It can get really packed but we had no problem standing around until something opens up. I really want to try their other drinks and food next time I’m in town! They also have outdoor seating and I think dogs are allowed.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the idea of creating a drink. I was going for the adult snow ball but change when I saw the cocktail roulette. I gave the bartender a base which was vodka and sweetness and he went to work. I will be returning for the happy hour and possibly brunch really soon.

I’ve been here 6 or 7 times now, and I haven’t had a bad experience. The bartenders are helpful and knowledgable. The drinks are always made carefully and they don’t rush you. Another plus is that they put a local spin on some of their drinks. The owner was bar tending last night and made me the best gin fizz I’ve ever had. People also like their food. I’ve only had the boudin egg rolls so I can’t speak for the whole menu, but they were delicious. It’s a small place, so it gets crowded quickly, but it’s a nice young professional crowd.

Cute spot! Parking is horrendous!!! I am having the #drinklocal cocktail and some boudin egg rolls. Very tasty. Kudos to the bartender for telling me the first drink I wanted to order really wasn’t that good. Truthfulness is always a plus. The Rum House is drowning this place out. I really hope more people frequent here! Good drinks, good food, good atmosphere. b

For a true, craft cocktail experience, one should always take their business to the classically trained and experienced bartenders in the city of New Orleans… Places like Cure and Bellocq immediately come to mind. But, when your in Baton Rouge, definitely give Olive or Twist a try — they get it right most of the time. Aside from my most recent visit, which was particularly disappointing, the small and rather plainly decorated cocktail bar usually turns out pretty tasty products. My first two trips left me stuffed and incredibly inebriated, so obviously I wasn’t left with much to complain about. So, before I mention my only caveat with this ambitious cocktail bar I have to admit I’ve only been three or four times. And, as I mentioned before, I’m accustomed to attending nationally recognized cocktail bars so I set my expectations fairly high when a bar portrays itself as cocktail heavy. Having said this, my complaint may seem rather nit picky considering they don’t really seem to be too concerned with their image in regards to their food. But, I think if somethings worth doing, its worth doing right. The small plates that they turn out have been pretty inconsistent in regards to both taste and presentation in my experience. Perhaps the kitchen itself is too small to serve the onslaught of people that attend their brunch on Sundays. Or, a combination of this and the fact that they only have two guys serving food and drinks for both the inside and outside patio areas. It has been commonplace for me to wait more than thirty minutes for my food to come out. Thankfully, the beer selection(for a cocktail bar) isn’t too bad and their cocktails are tasty and strong. Pair this with a good soundtrack and good conversation and Olive or Twist can redeem themselves for the most part.

Who stumbles into about one of the coolest spots in BR… Only the cool that’s who. This gem has Ballantine and in my book this place is only for the sophisticated and sexy. If you don’t know what Ballantine is… Get your grown up game and sexy game UP! This review is going to be short because this drink is mean the music is hot and so are the ladies in this place. Signing off because the drink is feeling nice and about to pour Ballantine in someones Valentine gleam the Lena Horne for Seven minutes in Heaven peak the diamonds and fade into the shade. See, Thats the Ballantine speaking… LOL(That may be off some peoples radar) Its Ok… Ballantine will help you translate and if not inbox me. Tone

Although more expensive than most bars in the area, Olive or Twist is worth the price and the hype. The bartenders take great care to make delicious handcrafted cocktails. Apparently they have also started making all of their food in house(except the desserts/cakes). The spinach and artichoke dip($ 6) is my favorite, with the shrimp and grits cakes and the duck quesadillas in a strong second and third place. Service is generally attentive, even when the bar is fairly busy. And I’m pretty sure suspenders are included in the required bartender uniform, which doesn’t hurt ;). Their menu(including happy hour) changes seasonally. Happy hour consists of several $ 5 cocktail options and food discounts, with the Moscow Mule my current favorite(very refreshing if you’ve never had one!).

What a great little gem! My bestie recommended we come try this place out for brunch. After reading all the positive reviews, I was excited. When I searched for the brunch menu and was a little concerned. The dishes sounded yummy(banana fosters french toast, crepes and shrimp and grits just to name a few) but all the dishes only costs $ 8…weird! I immediately was worried that they would only be small bite sizes and not really the gluttonous brunch portion that I was used to. Even though they only offer about 6 or 7 brunch plates, I must admit, all dishes were of good portions. My group of 3 all shared one dish(the boudain sliders :) and then each of us got our own… and we were full! I highly recommend the shrimp and grits cake, boudain biscuit sliders, and if you are into sweet… get the french toast. I also highly recommend the«It’s Bloody Hot» Blood Mary… its super YUMMY and it’s not too Hot, its juuuuust right :) As far as the ambiance, its very cool. It’s tucked away far from road noise in a back corner of a shopping center. My first impressions, more of a loungey gourmet liquor bar than a food place only because the lack of number of «real tables.» They have a patio out front with about 5 tables and more than enough inside bar sitting, then a couple of comfy looking couches that are good for groups of people coming to hang out to drink and snack of good conversation. Overall, I dig this place. I love how they have a wall of about just about any alcohol you could want to ask for. Bartenders are dressed like hipsters in their brightly colored shirts with suspenders and handlebar mustaches which I dig. Lots of good weekly specials too. I will def like to come back to try some of their specialty drinks and others food plates :)

«Most Awesome Bar in Baton Rouge». My fingertips have been so anxious to write a review on this place! I simply could not wait, but finally found the time! This place is amazing! This gets a WOWZA from me from all different directions! Get ready for my lengthy review because I am going to write about each and every reason why I adore this bar! Even though it is a small, neighborhood bar, I see why it can get packed, even on a weeknight! First of all… their customers: a non-pretentious crowd, very kick back and just want to have a great time with a few friends or a large group of them. I met some of the people there and they were all super sweet and even very kind, when maneuvering through a somewhat crowded bar. The Bartenders: I had the greatest pleasure of meeting Tim, Oliver & John(in that order)… OMG… some of the best in the business! I have been to many bars in my day, but I think I have met some of the most charming and professional bartenders around! They were so helpful and did not make me feel like I was not welcome there! I could see how this could potentially be a modern-day«Cheers». It was so nice to see employees that truly love what they do The Food: a unique menu of small bites… perfect for sharing. We ordered a variety to taste: Boudin Egg Rolls, Cochon De Lait Nachos, Shrimp & Crab Buffalo Bites, Shrimp & Grits Cakes and had a piece of their Coconut Rum Cake(we got the last piece and shared amongst 10 people. The Libations: What a list! I did not get to indulge in any of the cocktails because I was exhausted, still had a long night ahead and would be out like a light, if I did. From the different glasses of snowballs and ice cream floats poppin’ about, I knew I had to take a rain check on this part of the menu for my next visit! Believe me though, I have heard nothing but great things about these tasty beverages! Why come here? It’s clean, comfortable, trendy, modern, friendly, date-friendly, group-friendly, yummy food, excellent drinks and probably some of the most awesome bartenders you will ever meet! Olive Or Twist — You scored a homerun in my book… the perfect establishment for Baton Rouge! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and cannot wait to return. * Neighborhood Bar * Delicious Drinks * Lively Atmosphere * Friendly Bartenders * Fantastic Appetizers * Chill Crowd * Great For Groups * Date Night Spot
