Friendly workers and always have my Absolut in stock. They also carry diet 7up which a lot of places don’t have. Can’t ask for more than that! I love the fact that if I pay cash or use my debit card I get a discounted price. The lines were getting a little long on this particular day. Maybe because it was the day before Father’s Day? Anyway, they quickly opened up a 4th check out line and got us all taken care of quickly. Hope the dads enjoyed all those bottles they got for Father’s Day!

Beer guy definitely tries. Got abyss here this year when in past years they never got any. This particular specs is small but seems to get stuff in a variety as much as some of other big specs. I dont expect to get every special release but they def try as hard as they can when one comes out. They also have a suprising selection of scotch. Ive seen some bottles here that ive not seen at arbor walk or brodie specs. people are friendly and the beer guys ALWAYS want to help, and if its not on the shelf, they didnt get it. Unlike arbor walk and brodie where if you dont ASK you will find they are hiding most of the rare stuff or saving it for others(or themselves) in the back, which is a pain.

This is a nice store, if smaller than expected. The staff is really helpful and excited to chat about good booze = my kind of people!

I like Spec’s and this is where I go for any alcoholic beverages. I just wish our Spec’s was like those in Austin. I would love some food items to be offered as well.

So this is where we went to buy alcohol for our wedding. We decided to get a keg of Shiner, and 20 bottles of wine. For red wine, we wanted to get 5 bottles each of Chianti and Shiraz. For white wine, we wanted to get 5 bottles of a specific Pinot Grigio(Tommasi), and 5 bottles of Riesling. We wanted to stay in the $ 10 – 15 range for bottles. The wine guy helped us out. He was quite friendly and knowlegeable. They prettymuch had what we wanted … I think for the Shiraz we actually ended up getting something blended(I think Shiraz-Cabernet), and for that price we needed to get a sweet Riesling rather than a dry one(we were surprised that the Riesling went so fast at the wedding, only to find out that it was the only one with a screw-top rather than a cork, and people were having trouble uncorking some of the other bottles). My guests weren’t big drinkers(surprisingly) so the keg was more than half full when we returned it. Oh well. We had wine left over as well, so we gave some of it to the friends that helped us set up for the reception, and kept the rest. We enjoyed all of the wine choices, though a little less so with the Riesling(Hogue) that we had than with the other wines, since it was so sweet. A note about our subsequent non-wedding-related Spec’s shopping: This is a mini-Spec’s. We were told this was because they weren’t sure that Bastrop could support a full-on Spec’s or something. So their«fine food» section is really, really tiny. I’d just come for alcohol if I were you.
