It’s been a huge blessing for us that Insight Jiu Jitsu opened here in Bastrop. Jiu Jitsu is the ideal martial arts for both of my children. Their confidence has grown 100% in their ability to grapple with their peers. Coach Alex has gone above and beyond my expectations to teach my kids. He’s exceptional at keeping the mat time safe and fun. The atmosphere of Insight is truly family oriented. We love it!!!

Five of us(2 adults and 3 kids ages 11, 7 and 5) signed up with Insight BJJ when they opened a year ago and we haven’t had any regrets. Honestly, when we started, we felt like it was finally lined up where everyone in our family was interested in trying out the same sport and that made scheduling super easy for us. We had no idea at the time how it would change us. On and off the mat we have become a family absolutely in love with Jiu Jitsu and it’s been an amazing journey. One in which, individually, we have each grown so much, and as a family, exponentially. Obviously with a sport like this we have all seen physical changes but even more so we have seen our children learn mental focus, determination and grit. They have all gained self confidence and through competition either in class or at a meet, a mutual respect and sportsmanship with their teammates/competitors that makes us super proud. They have learned to handle defeat with their chins up and to keep working hard for their goals. The class environment under Coach Alex, all the other coaches and classmates always feels safe and knowledgeable and always leaves you coming back for more. It’s not one of those marital arts where you get a new belt every couple of months, you really have to work hard for it and earn it and their is something profoundly rewarding when your whole class and coach rewards you for that work. We’ve grown as a family and we’ve gained a family at Insight BJJ and you just can’t put a price tag on that.

My kids ages 9 and 10 love Insight Brazilian Jiu Jitsu(BJJ). We go 3 – 4 times per week. They will often give up other activities so they can make the BJJ classes. It’s a very safe environment. This is sport Jiu Jitsu and there is no striking involved. The classes are large with a good ratio of boys to girls, large and small. There’s a lot of opportunity for like size and like skills to train with one another. My kids have been going for about 6 months now and I have seen a dramatic change in their confidence, especially my daughter. Coach Alex is very good at teaching kids.(He’s kind of a big kid himself.) The classes are fun without a lot of rigorous training. There’s a good progressive reward system so the kids are recognized as they develop their skills. The cost is very reasonable compared to other schools and other activities. The schedule offers a lot of opportunities to train throughout the week. The adult classes are just as good. It’s an addictive sport. There is a good ratio of female to male so you can find partners that are like size/strength to train with. It’s a good sport for the more mature crowd. I’ve lost my love handles, built stamina and strength. The training family here is very welcoming and supportive. It’s a great sport you can spend years learning and it never gets boring. Bastrop is blessed to have Coach Alex and his school.
