The Hitting Zone

I had old cards for the batting machines that are no longer there. Never got any notification that the cages were gone or that my cards no longer had any value. Tried to get the OWNER to let me just use a tunnel (to pitch to my son) for 15 minutes (only 1 tunnel was in use, lots of tunnels sitting empty) and he wouldn’t let me do that As the OWNER, he could have– and should have– made the decision to give me a break, for the sake of good customer service, but chose not to. Basically out of luck. I won’t go back, and neither should you.

This place isn’t bad. I took my brother here for batting practice. It’s nice that the cages are indoors, because the last thing we needed on a hot day was to be outside. There are 5 cages set up for hitting, with varying levels of speed. He opted for the one and only fast pitch cage (70 – 72 mph). $ 20 will get you 15 tokens, each token getting you 12 pitches. That seems like a pretty good value to me.
The pitching machine broke down halfway through his practice. Apparently, if you throw a ball at the machine, it will get going again, which he had to do several times. Then it just crapped out completely. He walked away, and then a pitch came. Not so great if you happen to walk in front of it when it decides to start working again. He continued his batting in a medium pitch cage, but was bothered by the mat on the back of the net behind him, which was loose enough that it would hit him if a ball hit the mat. He had to swat it away and then try to get back into a rhythm before the next pitch.
The vending machine for water was broken. I put $ 1.50 for a water, which said it was sold out. I told the employee about it and she opened the machine, saw that there was water, and told me it isn’t sold out, then closed the machine back up. Oookay. I put my money in again to show her, and it in fact said sold out so she opened the machine back up and we exchanged water for money. I feel like she should have done that the first time around. Oh well. You should probably bring your own drink so you’re not dependent on a temperamental machine.
There are other features of this place, including a cage where you can have someone pitch balls to you behind a pitching fence thing, like they do in the MLB with the home run derby. Overall, it’s a good option for batting practice.
