Excellent place for a walk. Views of meadows, woods and over Barnstable harbour to Sandy Neck. Mostly flat and pushchair friendly. I’d say limited access for wheelchairs. Many different types of trees that are all clearly labelled. Pens with goats in. Free for Mass Audobon members, otherwise $ 4. Gift shop and restrooms. Interpretative bee exhibit. Access to beach for walk along Barnstable harbour and seasonal boardwalk.

I loved this place, so glad I decided to visit. It would definitely be great for kids. They had a bunch of little critters in cages for visitors to view. Outside was this display cage which held these huge caterpillars you could hear crunching through leaves. Also, there’s one of those beehives that have a sheet of clear plexi-glass or something, so you can see the bees in the hive doing their thing. The visitors center was great too, it had a few more live critters to check out, but was packed full of all sorts of other interesting stuff too. Outside there were tons of birds. Also, you can walk to the marsh, but this walk is super short compared to the Natural History Museum in Dennis. When I was down by the marsh, one of the staff was down there too — she got in the water and grabbed a horseshoe crab to show me. It was awesome! It’s free to visit, but they have a box for donations, and I would encourage you to contribute and help support this wonderful place.

I organize a family photo shoot every couple of years. Mom wasn’t around so my daughter and I met my photographer friend, Laura Bowen Price at Long Pasture Sanctuary. This place is a gem. It is on the road to Harbor Point in Barnstable. The meadows were breathtaking full of wildflowers, milkweeds, birds, bees and brilliant sunlight at 5PM. Our photo shoot was fun. It was a lovely day.
